~Chapter 3~

Upon waking, you felt as though you were hallow. Your thoughts wondered aimlessly and you were almost clueless as to your surroundings. It took a few minutes to shake yourself awake. Sitting up, you looked around, remembering your schedule. You yawned and stood, joints popping as you stretched. Flowey's head bobbed in the doorway and he smiled.

"C'mon (Y/N)! If we leave now we can catch a ride with the river guide and be there in less than an hour!"

You nodded sleepily and looked at your disguise. Still drowsy, you put on the getup and applied the right cosmetics to pale your skin. With ear in place and tail now fastened, you put in your contacts and looked at Flowey.

"Hey Flowey? Can you carry me? It's too early for me to be going on two hour walks in the frigid snow."

He snickered and winked. "Don't worry (Y/N)! I made a shortcut for your convenience."

He yanked you towards the empty space that had been in front of the fireplace, where a large hole now resided. Within the hole you saw a long tunnel and the walls were lined in greenery. A throne of vines sat waiting for you and you grinned.

"Thanks Flowey." You smiled, hopping into the hole. Your previous clothes were pressed against your chest. You sat in the seat and looked at Flowey.

"Hold in tight (Y/N)!" He chirped.

Before you could even question his words, you seat shot forwards. Vines twisted over your limbs, securing you into the seat. Your heart pounded as the moving air attempted to blow away your firmly planted wig. You had to close your eyes to protect them from the sting as you kept the death grip on your items. Two minutes later, you slowed, quickly coming to a stop. Your body shot upward and you were hit with a wall of cold air.

Shuddering under the sudden temperature change, you opened your eyes and looked around. The vines disappeared and you landed on your bottom in the inches of snow, no trace of them left behind. Flowey had plopped you down next to the river. You stood and shook off the snow, grabbing the bundle of your belongings and hiding it in your large hood.

Taking a moment to fix your disguise, you approached the riverguide and smiled. "To Hotlands please." You requested. "As close to MTT resort as possible if you can."

They nodded and allowed you on. You smiled politely and made sure to act as innocent as possible to sell the character. Once on board, you sat on your knees and folded your hands in your lap. You could feel eyes on you as you boarded and looked around. Far away from the river, next to the library, you saw him.

He looked at you with a mixture of emotions and your face reddened. His gaze showed awe, recognition, confusion and betrayal all in one. Upon meeting his gaze, you felt a chill run through you and you fumbled to hide your face. Luckily, the guide had just pushed off and you were hidden in the cover of frozen timbers. A sigh of relief fell over you and you relaxed.

"Tra la la~ a fate made fake will lead to deceit. One's enemies are forgotten and allies secretly enemies. Tra la la~"

You rolled your eyes, looking at your hands. That old coot was spitting nonsense again.

I could almost feel her. Her soul was so close I felt as though I could wave my hand and it would wrap immediately around her, but I couldn't see her. The aura her soul gave off was strong and odd. A mixture of poisonous and torturous emotions giving her a strength almost too uncontrollable.

I stopped in my tracks, looking around. She was nearby. Turning around, I didn't see her, only the usual monster... and someone new? As my sockets glazed past the river guide's post, I saw someone new.

She was dressed from head to toe with white. A large hood rested against her back, seeming more well-used as a backpack than a coverup. On the top of her straight snowy hair were two perked white ears. A white tail flicked from a hole in her dress and her skin was pale. When I caught a glimpse of her face, she seemed eerily familiar. Though her eyes were frost blue.

She seemed to have noticed me and net my gaze. Her ears fell and her tail flicked as she tried to hide her reddening face, but I couldn't help but stare. I could sense it coming off that girl. She had something to do with (Y/N), I knew it. But how am I going to get that out of her? Will I even see her again?

We finally arrived at Hotlands about half an hour later. As the boat came to a stop, we were actually very close to MTT resort. Smiling happily, you flipped a coin to the guide and disembarked, waving goodbye. "Thank you!" You chirped, then turned back to the resort.

You could hear a crowd of monster around, sharp notes and the clearing of throats filling the air. You walked to the noise and found a line of monsters, all holding papers. You felt vines tug at your arm and you turned, only to find a single paper slipped into your hands.

On it you noticed Mettaton's name printed in a large Papyrus font.
Mettaton's Fabulous Show~ Looking for Talent
To the monsters brave enough to try out, come to the studio for your chance to be on air for the whole underground! If you wow the crowd and get the love of Mettaton, a permanent spot is available! Auditions start at dawn and go to 4pm!
Don't be shy beauties~

You lowered the paper and sighed. "Of course there's competition." You huffed. "This didn't happen in the last timeline."

You walked closer to the door and stood on your tiptoes, peering at the line in all of its entirety. It was too long to see the end of, yet Mettaton's show wouldn't be that popular yet. Maybe everyone just wanted to be on television.

You checked the time and squeaked quietly. It was noon. There was four more hours to the auditions but with this many people you wouldn't make it. Stretching on you toes again, you peered at the line. As you lowered your body, gravity pulled you the wrong way, making you tumble through the line. Groaning, you stood shakily and brushed the dirt from your white clothing, surprised it remained white.

A large figure loomed over you and you squeaked, shrinking away. The monster was a large, red-furred wolfish character. He snarled at you, his papers crunched in his fist as he looked down at you with angered eyes. His clawed hand batted you to the side, knocking your down. You hissed as your hand hit the ground, scrapping your palm.

"No cutting Neko. Back of the line."

You shook your head rapidly. "N-No! I wasn't trying to cut! I just fell and-"

He growled at you again and swiped at you. You squealed as you ducked, falling further away. A long cut severed the sleeve of your dress and left a shallow gash on your arm. He smirked. "Now go." He barked.

"Excuse me Mr. Wolf, but is that anyway to talk to a fellow monster?!"

You looked up and your breath fell short. Over you stood a familiar fridge, offering you his hand. "Oh look at you poor darling~ are you alright? Are you hurt any?"

The monster looked at you and growled. "That stupid Neko was trying to cut in front of me." He snarled.

"No I wasn't." You retorted. "I just fell. I promise it was just a mistake sir!"

Mettaton awed at your innocence and snapped towards the monster. "You sir, are no monster to be on my show. When a innocent girl falls in front of you, you help her up. You certainly do NOT attack her!"

You felt your body leave the ground as two arms lifted you. Mettaton looked at you and smiled. "You're coming with me so I can patch you up, then you can go next for your audition! That's what you're here for, right?"

You hesitated a moment, then nodded quickly. "Yes Mettaton. I wanted to audition with my singing."

The monsters ahead of us all watched with wide mouths as Mettaton towed you into the building. They're expression towards you was bitter, but just before the door, Mettaton turned and cleared his voice. "Attention Potential stars! Do not blame this innocent monster if you believe it to be unfair. If you wish to blame someone, blame the monster that made it so she required the medical care in the first place."

In seconds they turned on the wolf monster and his face fell. As he ran away, you felt a guilty kind of satisfaction. Minutes later, Mettaton placed you down on a table and reached around you to grab bandages. You smiled greatfully and bowed your head.

"Thank you Mettaton." You cooed.

"Oh no problem Beauty~
You're lucky I got there when I did though! I was seconds away from leaving with another person!"

You snickered. "I guess I'm lucky then."

Mettaton laughed. "Yes, yes you are... uh... what exactly is your name darling?"

Your ears perked up as you looked at Mettaton. "Oh, my name is (Y- er, my name is Snowflake." You grinned.

After fastening a bandage, he lifted his front to you. Since he was back to being a box with a unicycle, it was hard to read his expression. But he seemed to be enjoying himself as he took care of you, that's a good things.

Finally finished, he wheeled himself behind the desk and you hopped off, facing him. "Okay Snowflake, let's get down to buisness. What will you be doing for me?"

"Oh, uh, I-I sing. Do you have any request?" You asked.

I really should've prepared something. Dammit (Y/N)!!!

"Sing whatever you're comfortable with dear~" Mettaton chirped.

You pondered the decision, your entire playlist running through your head. You needed to impress, this was your only chance to get into society. Deciding, you cleared your throat and smiled. Okay. Here goes.

Sorry, really don't wanna write out the lyrics.

As your voice died out, you watched your feet, waiting for a response. Every fiber of you cried for him to say something but silence pursued. After a minuge, you sighed. "I'm sorry if I wasted yo-"

"Oh my goodness darling! That was adorable! You sing so well and you look cute when you do! You're like a two in one package!"

Darting from his seat, he wrapped an arm around you and zoomed away. "Come Snowflake! You're making your debut today! If you manage to make the crowd happy, you've got yourself a job!"

You smiled. "Thank you Mettaton but what about the other people who want to audition?"

He waved his hand submissively. "Oh I wasn't going to pick any of them anyway. Just glancing at the lot of them told me that."

"Oh, okay."

You were put on your feet and Mettaton pushed you into a room. As you looked around, you remembered it was the dressing room. "Get yourself out of those torn clothes dear! We'll practice a new song until four then you can take a thirty minute rest. After that, your debut!"

You gulped. "Already?" You asked.

Vague memories resurfaced and you choked them down. Mettaton's hand fell on you shoulder and you met his screen, eyes to glass. "Don't worry Darling, I'll be right next to you."

You nodded uncertainly and smiled. "Okay."

Mettaton's screen flashes a heart and he whooped. "Okay! I'll go take care of some things while you get dressed."

The next second he was gone and the door was closed. You collapsed against it with a heavy breath.

"This is gonna be good." You said, sarcasm possessing your words.
