Chapter Two
"Are you alright?" Mason asks concerned.
"I'm changing can you turn around?" She says quickly.
He turns around quickly and his cheeks heat up, even though he didn't see anything.
Ana was almost done with putting her shirt on, but because he messed it up she puts the shirt on and takes it off four more times, but doesn't feel right because she only did three before Mason interrupted so she has to do it once again.
She's confused as to why Mason seemed so surprised. He could see she was changing, but his eyes stayed a little above her. Then it hits her. She begins thinking about it, it explains the hand on the wall, the way he walks, where he looks when people are talking, and just how didn't react to seeing her without a shirt on. She wonders why he hasn't told her.
"I am changed now, you can turn around." She says making sure she said 'I am' and not 'I'm'. She didn't want to have to say the last word again to make it an even number so, changing the 'I'm' into 'I am', fixed it.
"Sorry about that. Just used to walking into my room." Mason apologies scratching his neck.
"It's alright." She says and he nods his head. "Why did you not tell me?" She questions about his sight.
"What do you mean?" He questions confusion written on his face. Ana takes four more steps toward him and he doesn't change where he's looking.
"That you can't see." She replies making his eyes open wide.
"Well, I, um...How did you figure it out?" He stutters.
"The way you walk, where you look when you talk, how you ran your hand on a wall when you were at the home. You didn't look at me when I was changing. You look above me, not at me." She finishes staring at his eyes. They're so blue and bright.
"I..I just didn't want you to know right away." He confesses to her.
"Why? What wrong with knowing-knowing?" She asks wishing he would look at her eyes, but she knows he can't.
"It's embarrassing to have others know and they feel sorry for me. I don't want that, I'm perfectly fine." He says and runs his hands through his hair.
"Well, I won't feel sorry for you as long as you don't feel sorry for me." She says and takes two big deep breaths.
"Why would I feel sorry for you?" He questions.
"I have an Obsessive Compulsive Disorder." She says looking up at him to see what he thinks.
"OCD, is that why you say a word twice or why you pushed me again after running into me?"
"I can't just do something once. Odd numbers are bad, they...they're just not good." She says frustrated, that she has it and can't do anything about it.
"How long have you had it?" Mason asks and hears how her heart rate has picked up. Talking about this seems to make her nervous.
"I remember when I was younger, when I was in a pack, someone I was playing with was digging in the sandbox. I counted every time he did it. He did one under 40 times and I told him he had to do it again, but he refused. I tried to tell him something bad was going to happen and then I had a freaked out because he wouldn't do it." She finishes and starts to knock on a dresser. Mason's concerned because each knock got harder. His wolf tells him that she hurting herself, but Mason knows she has to finish or she'll have to start all over again causing more pain.
David had known someone with it and told Mason all about the issues they had.
Mason hears the knocking stop. "Is your hand hurt?" He asks and Ana stares up at him. He didn't stop her, he let her finish. She doesn't understand why. Without thinking any longer she nods her head.
"Oh, kinda." She says remembering he can't see. He turns and walks out the door. Ana flips the light switch ten times before walking out. Mason had continued to walk and gets ice for her hand.
He made sure there were six in the bag and then handed them to her. He heard her get on the chair twice and then fumble with the bag of ice.
"Thank you." She says quietly while putting the ice on her hand.
"I'm sorry, I won't ask any more questions about... that." He says trying to make sure not to trigger her again.
"No it's fine, I'm normally better at hiding it-it."
"You don't need to hide it from me," Mason says sitting next to her.
"Where is my bag?" She questions.
"I'll go grab it." He says standing up. While walking back to his room his wolf won't leave him alone. He wonders if she has any other issues, how she looks, if her skin is soft, why she thinks she has to hide it. "Will you be quiet?" Mason says out loud to his wolf.
This just makes him ask more questions. Mason grabs Ana's bag and continues to tell his wolf to shut up.
"Here's your bag." He says holding it out. Ana smiles because he holds it to her left instead of at her. She doesn't know why it makes her smile, but it does.
"Thank you." She says and opens her bag. She finds her medication and opens the cap four times before grabbing two of the pills.
"Would you like a water bottle?" Mason questions going to the fridge.
"Um, can I just have a glass of water-water." She says trying not to think about the cap on the bottle.
Mason realizes that water bottles probably aren't fun for her and feels like hitting himself on the head. "Sorry didn't think about the water bottle."
"No, no it's fine." She says grabbing the glass. She takes one pill at a time because then it adds up to two drinks.
"My wolf is going to drive me crazy. Do you mind if I ask you a few questions?" He says trying to get him to shut up, but it only excites him more.
"Good ahead."
"Why do you feel you have to hide it?" He asks and he hears her turn in her chair.
She stares at him for a while, before answering. "I don't like how people look at me when they know. Some think I do it because I want attention, others say it's weird and I need to get help. People just don't understand how hard it is to have it. It makes life easier if I can hide it. I don't need to clean things constantly, I just really really can't have odd numbers. I wish I could show people why I have to do something many times or why I only eat or drink a certain amount of times. If they know they just laugh and think it funny, but it's like another person living in my head. They tell me if I don't do this or that, that I will hurt someone." She finishes and she didn't even count how many words she says. "She also has a question. When did you lose your sight?" She asks for her wolf and for her.
"I had it until I was eight. I don't remember what happened, but since then I can't see." He says letting out a breath. Ana was about to say sorry, but remembered he doesn't want people to feel sorry for him. It's not that she's sorry for him, more of sorry that he was forced into such a change at such a young age, however maybe it's easier rather than when you're older. "What's your favorite color?" He asks and Ana takes a moment to answer.
"I don't know if I have one. I don't like yellow though." Ana replies thinking about it.
"Yellow. Like the sun." He says trying to picture the color, but it's been a while.
"Yeah." She says and then she asks a question of her own. "What is your favorite music?"
Mason laughs lightly and Ana turns her head. "I really don't have one. I like most, except rap, that's just not my thing. What about you?" He returns the question to her.
"Instrumental. It helps calm my mind down when it's buzzing around-around." She says and then realizes how hungry she is. "Do you mind if I grab something to eat-eat?"
"No, grab whatever you want." Mason says and listens as she walks around the kitchen.
Ana opens the fridge twice and grabs some yogurt. "Where are your spoons?" She asks looking around the kitchen. Mason stands up and walks over to her.
Ana watches him walk, but when he comes a little too close she moves quickly to another counter. He turns his head and looks near her. "Are you afraid of me?" He questions with hurt in his voice.
"No, no, no, I um, have this haphephobia. Well, it's not really a phobia, more of I just don't like confrontation. Hugs, holding hands, brushing passed someone, it makes me uncomfortable." She replies feeling embarrassed.
"When did this start?" Mason asks while opening the silverware drawer. Ana grabs a spoon before answering.
"Um.. after my pack was attacked, I didn't like people touching me. I'm sometimes ok if I end up brushing passed someone, but I prefer not to-to." She replies and goes back to the table. She doesn't like the floor because they are in little squares and she has to step in the middle of them.
"Oh." Is all Mason responds. His wolf starts asking a million questions, but he asks one of his own. "Can you describe yourself?" This makes Anas head pop up.
"Um, I can try." She sets her spoon down for the tenth time and thinks. "I'm 4'11, I have blonde hair, which has natural highlights, I have blueish eyes, um... people tell me my hands, feet, and ears are really small." Ana laughs as she says that one, making Mason smile. "Here see." Ana grabs Mason's hand. "Hold your hand like you'd do a high five." She says and he does. She puts her hand up to his and her fingers only go a little passed his palm. "Guess people were right," Ana says and removes her hand.
They both felt the tingles and Mason wishes he could have just grabbed her hand. "I don't think I can describe myself anymore in depth." She says and then a question pops into her head. "What do you do for a living?" She asks genuinely curious.
"Let me show you." Mason says and this makes both him and his wolf happy. They get to show her something that he loves. Ana stands up after Mason and follows behind him.
Ana's wolf wonders what he could do and how he can show them. Mason then opens the door and Ana sees the piano. "You play?" She asks and stares up at him.
"Let me show you." He goes and sits on the bench. After opening the keyboard lid, he hits a few keys before finding the right one. Then he starts playing a song.
As he plays Ana slowly walks closer to him. When she's close enough she sits on the bench next to him, but not touching him. She closes her eyes and sways a little.
"Did you like it?" Mason questions.
"Yes, you're really good. Wish I could do something like that-that." She says and he gets an idea.
"I can teach you. It's really not hard." He says and Ana's eyes open wide.
"You can try, but I haven't played in a long time." She says and he shakes his head.
"Ok, can you read the music?" He questions.
"Yes, but I don't remember which keys are which and there are still notes I never got to learn-learn."
"Um, ok. I still have a few books." Mason stands up. "Can you stand, there in the bench." (Ok, if you haven't seen a piano bench, some have it where it opens and things can be stored in it.) Ana stands and he opens it. "You can grab any book." Mason says.
Ana looks through the books and finds one for beginners. "Ok, I have one." She says. He lets the top close and sits back on the bench.

"See, perfect." Mason says as Ana played a whole song. She's not bad, but not great either.
"Wow, that was horrible." She says and laughs.
"It was good." Mason argues and she shakes her head.
"Right." She says sarcastically. "I'm going to grab something to eat. Would you like anything?" She asks. He shakes his head and she walks out the room.
It takes her around fifteen minutes to make her sandwich and to grab a bag of chips. While she walks back to the room she hears a familiar song. She doesn't know where from, but she hums along with it. When she steps through the door that's when she remembers the lyrics. She starts to sing them, she only gets a verse in because then Mason stops.
"Why'd you stop-stop." She asks and takes a seat on the floor looking up at him.
"Have you heard yourself sing?" He asks turning his body in her direction.
"Yeah, what about it?" She asks completely confused on what he's trying to get at.
"You sound amazing. Like you can sing really well." He says making Ana's cheeks heat up and he can tell her heart rate picked up a bit.
"I'm ok." She responds and he shakes his head.
"No, you're great." He says still turned toward her.
"Well, thanks." She says and takes a bite from her sandwich.
"You can eat a lot of food. I'm still full from the salad we had." Mason says and Ana looks up at him.
"That's because I'm hypoglycemic or something that sounds like it. It means I burn calories faster than I can eat them. I have to eat a lot or I get really shaky, but that also goes along with my hyperthyroidism. Anyways, if I don't eat I can end up passing out-out." She says and takes another bite.
"What's hyperthyroidism?" He asks. Ana swallows before answering.
"It's the reason I'm always in warm clothes. It makes me cold, like all the time. There are other side effects, but I don't remember what they are or if I even have all of them."
"Do you have any other...conditions?" Mason asks confused as to why a werewolf's body couldn't beat passed her conditions, typically werewolves don't have any medical issues because of how strong their bodies are.
"I'll just say all of them. The OCD, I wear glasses or contacts, not that it's really a condition. I have hyperthyroidism, and hypoglycemic, I get sick easily, and I have asthma. I think that's all." She says and Mason's face holds confusion.
"How did you get these conditions? Your werewolf gene should have been able to push them away or get rid of them." He says confused.
"I was born two months early." She says and Mason's eyes open wide. He knows she's lucky to even be here. Werewolves aren't in there mother's stomachs for as long as humans already, but two months is like a thrid of the time they're in their mother's stomachs.
"Wow, I've never heard of a werewolf born that early and surviving." He says surprised. "How were you diagnosed with all of these? You couldn't have gone to a real doctor."
"I know a doctor from my old pack, he joined another, but always helps me when I call." Before anyone can say anything David yells through the house.
