Chapter nine

The atmosphere was elated. Everyone around her was screaming, watching the Veela flood onto the pitch, it had taken Mr Weasley two tries to explain to her that the beautiful women were also counted as creatures. They didn't seem to be doing anything yet, and it wasn't until all of the Veela had flooded onto the pitch that anything did.

The Veela had started to sing. The immediate effect on most of the male members of the audience was scary. At once, Fred, George, Harry and Ron were hanging over the railings of the box, looking as though they were in some sort of trance. Mr Weasley and few others who were wise enough to know about the effect the Veela had, had stuffed their fingers in their ears. Levi had clearly informed Reece of this, but the boy still looked confused, which was a comical look with his fingers in his ears.

"What on earth is going on?" Raven questioned Hermione, looking at the boys in fear, half-thinking they had been possessed. Hermione shrugged.

"I don't know, I've never seen them act like this before... what do you think it is?" Hermione had gone into full mystery solving mode.

"It's the Veela! It has to be!" Raven declared, looking from the boys to the pitch and back again. Ron had started to shred the shamrock on the hat he had bought, but his father took it off him, shaking his head at his son.

"You'll be wanting that after the Irish have had their say." Mr Weasley told the boy, who was staring at the Veela with his mouth hanging open.

"Huh?" He asked stupidly, causing Raven, Hermione and Ginny to hold back their laughter. Between them, the three girls managed to pull the four boys back into their seats, all of them muttering about how stupid the boys were acting.

The Veela stopped singing and were greeted by the angry cries of the crowd, who definitely didn't want them to leave. They settled themselves at the side of the pitch, obviously waiting to support their team. And then what seemed to be very much like a gold and green comet zoomed onto the pitch. Thousands upon thousands of eyes were trained on the comet, obviously waiting for it to do something spectacular. The strangest thing was that at closer inspection the comet was not in fact a comet. It was merely made up of hundreds of little creatures dressed in gold and green, flying in a formation that looked similar to a comet.

"Leprechauns." Mr Weasley explained, when Raven asked the man what they were.

"I didn't realise they were real." Reece muttered, Raven nodded, she felt the same.

"They are strange creatures." Mr Weasley explained, "but no less real."

"Can we get one?" Raven held back her laughter at the question she heard Levi ask Charlie.

"Levi, we are not getting a leprechaun." Charlie answered him, causing his friends face to fall.

"But why not?" Levi moaned, looking crestfallen, he pouted at Charlie, who just laughed at him.

"We live with dragons, they'll eat it." Charlie pointed out. Levi sighed.

"Not if it lives in the house." He decided. Charlie just looked at him and shook his head.

"Levi, we're still not getting a Leprechaun." Charlie told him.

"The dragons don't live in the house Charlie! It'll be fine." Levi tried to argue his point, but Charlie was strongly opposed to getting a Leprechaun.

"If they don't, Lilliana will." He said.

"You don't know that." Levi argued childishly.

"She's a kneazle, she'll chase it until it dies." Charlie told him.

"But-"

"Levi!"

"Fine."

Charlie grinned at his victory, but Levi watched the leprechauns with a crestfallen expression. Charlie started up another conversation with his friend, returning the smile on the young man's face.

The Leprechauns had begun to shower people in gold, people were screaming and it was obvious that they were all ready for the match to begin, so Ludo Bagman began to announce the players. When Victor Krum himself was announced, Raven borrowed Hermione's ominoculars and zoomed in on his face.

"He is not as good looking as they all say." She stated examining his face. She didn't see George's smug expression as she said this, but Hermione and Ginny certainly did.

"But," She continued, causing George's face to fall. "He is kind of hot, in a strange, bird-like way." She said. Hermione rolled her eyes at this statement, and took back the ominoculars, sighing again when Ginny agreed with Raven.

"A strange bird-like way." Reece shook his head at her. "Oh Raven."

"If you were into boys, you would understand." Raven told the boy, who didn't look that convinced.

"Honestly, first the boys over the Veela, now you two over Krum, what is up with everyone today?" Hermione was not impressed.

"Hermione's right you know, looks can be deceiving." Charlie stated wisely. Levi, Raven and Ginny stared at the young man in shock, they hadn't expected him to say anything that sounded so smart.

"Wow, didn't know you were so smart!" Raven spoke sarcastically, causing Levi to snort and earn himself a glare from Charlie. Reece patted his arm comfortingly.

"She's right though." Ginny added, causing Charlie to scowl at all three of them.

"Shut up! I want to watch the match!" Charlie ordered, Levi rolled his eyes, but didn't sit back in his seat.

"Is he always like that?" Raven asked Levi, as they talked quietly to avoid being glared at by Charlie.

"Most of the time, you get used to it after a while." He shrugged.

"You live together then?" She asked, he nodded, looking slightly uncomfortable about speaking about himself.

"Share a house." He added.

"Why did you agree to go to Romania?" Raven was sort of quizzing him now, but that was what the two did on the occasions that they met up.

"I like dragons." Levi answered.

"Do you even like quidditch?" She asked her finally question. Levi shrugged.

"Meh."

"then why are you here?"

"Charlie thinks I don't leave the sanctuary enough." He answered.

"He made you come?"

"In a manner of speaking."

their conversation had gotten louder, and the glare they earned from Charlie was enough to shut them both up.

The match was a long one, halfway through the referee tried to flirt with the Veela and then send them off. But now it was all over. Ireland had won, but Victor Krum had caught the snitch. And there were only two people who had expected that outcome, Fred and George.
