"Try to figure out what happened to Hannah? Curiosity killed the cat, Amaya." My friend whispered to me when I motioned her towards me.

"Shut up and help me lift this up."

She gently wrapped her fingers around the metal of the fence and looked at me.

"Are you sure about this?" There was sudden concern that dug its roots in her voice.

"Why wouldn't I be?" I crawled under when the fence snapped, closing it behind me.

"Amaya I can't open it again!" Alyssa frantically pulled at the fence gate and I shushed her.

I heard a slight disturbance in the bushes and I pulled away at one of the bricks from the wall surrounding the house.

"Amaya no bad idea."

"Alyssa shut up."

I climbed up the wall which only stood about eight feet high. I heard her shout's for me to come back to the safety of the fence but I ignored her pleas and pushed myself off the top of the wall, landing on the ground with the silent thud of my boots.

I pulled out my small flashlight and turned it on to illuminate my path. I heard small giggles in the distance and shone the light upon the sign leading up to the steps. I knocked at the metal when the door almost immediately pushed open, revealing to me the inside of the hallway.

Dim lights scattered the walls as cheap wallpaper tore from them. The long rug that laid on the ground was tainted with stains and dust clung to the railing of the stairs as I brushed my dirty fingers on my pants.

"Hello? Anyone here?" I waved the dust from the air as I pushed open another door, showing shelves full of books.

I examined the books closely and looked around at the sound of feet shuffling across the hall. The dust was disturbed from the table in small fingerprints as more childish laughs rang through the halls.

I hurried toward the source of the laughing when I slowly opened the bedroom door to show twins sitting upright in their beds, facing away from me and looking out the window.

"H-hey," I muttered slightly, "A-are you here alone?"

"Alone?" A twin whispered to the other.

"Alone is an adjective meaning having no one else's presence." The other clarified before the both turned to look at me.

"In that case," the first began again. "We are not alone. If you are asking if we're lonely, quite frankly we are."

They both climbed out of their beds and stood about three feet high. They slowly made their way towards me and I backed up out of their room.

"Would you like to play with us?" They asked in unison and I bolted down the stairs.

I attempted to pull the doors open but they refused to budge.

A small girl, around the age of three, pulled on my jacket and began to cry.

"Momma left me here. Please stay with me."

I widened my eyes at her white dress stained with old blood. I pushed her to the ground and scurried around the house looking for a way out. I pushed open another door when I saw a young woman sitting at the desk. She looked up from her work and stood up instantly to shut the door and lock it.

"W-what is this place?" I breathed heavily and she pressed her ear to the door then sighed in relief.

"I assume you met Pasley, and the twins Aaron and Anna. My name is Elenora." She smiled innocently and I stared at her blankly.

"Do you know why this place has been shut off?" I asked and she nodded slowly.

"I was tasked with watching these children. The reason we have a wall and fence is to solely prevent anyone from getting in or out."

"But why?"

"To protect the community of course."

"You're merely avoiding my question," I stated quite annoyed.

"These children are of course, well, troubled." Her thick English accent appeared ver present when I shook my head.

"How are they troubled?"

"Well, some are mentally unstable, others are quite odd, some can be sent here by government orders, and there are those who commit slight crimes."

"Like what?"

"Darling I can't hand out classified information," she said quite harshly.

"I stumbled here and I need a way out. Can you help me?"

"You didn't happen to stumble in here by accident. You have had to climb over the wall and fence. You purposely came here."

"I'll be seeing myself out."

She smiled gleefully as she unlocked the door to reveal Pasley.

"Momma isn't coming back is she?"

Elenora bent down and stroke the child's head softly and pointed to me.

"She is right here my love."

"Another one?" A young teenage boy came over and grabbed Pasley's hand.

"Oh hush Adam."

"Wait no I need to go. My parents are going to be worried sick."

"Sick? Do I need to perform an operation?" A mid-teenage girl set her hand on my shoulder to reveal her milky white skin and white hair.

"I really need to go." I laughed lightly and the twins approached us.

"Elenora," Aaron mumbled and Anna pointed to me.

"I didn't like the way the other one screamed."

"O-other one?" I questioned and looked at Elenora.

"I believe her name was-" she was quickly cut off by the other girl.

"Her name was Hannah."

"What happened to her?" I felt the color drain from my face and the twins grabbed each of my hands.

"This!" Pasley beamed brightly and showed off her bloodied dress.

"Pasley got mad when she told her no. She got her head bashed in."

"I tried to perform a surgery to no prevail." The white haired girl shrugged and the twins continued to pull me away from Elenora.

"No wait please!" I screamed as loud as I could and Pasley began to stomp her feet.

"Emma she is being loud!"

"I'll shut her up." Adam smiled and I felt tears pour from my face in horror.

Elenora's words rang through my head in quite thoughts.

The reason we have a wall and fence is to solely prevent anyone from getting in or out.
