CHAPTER 53

Alfred's PoV

After 18 hours of nonstop flight, we finally got here in New York.

Marami naman na akong alam na lugar dito sa new york. Sometimes we have our family vacation here. That's why I know some places.

We stayed at Dad's house and it was really big. I slept for only 4 hours.

Nag-aayos ako ngayon. Nakaharap ako sa salamin dito sa kwarto. I think I look good.

I guess I am ready to meet my fiancee.

Yeah. Ngayon kasi pinaayos ni Dad ang dinner namin para kilalanin ang pamilya ng pagmemerge-an namin.

Nauna na sila Mama at Papa dun sa restaurant. Ewan ko kay dad, sobrang excited. Iniwan nila ako dito at sinabing before 8 dapat nandun na ako sa restaurant.

The maids will take charge of Dad's house when I leave.

I took my wallet and phone. Lumabas na ako ng bahay at kumuha ng taxi.

Nang makasakay ako sinabi ko sa driver ang lugar. Then he drove and I sat back.

I'm getting a bit nervous. Parang ayokong kilalanin ang babaeng mapapakasalan ko. But I have to, because of my decision.

Tumigil na ang taxi sa tapat ng restaurant. I gave my payment and went out.

I walked in the Reataurant and looked for the table where Dad and Mom is.

"Sir, are you Alfred Marquez?" Pagtatanong ng isang waiter na foreigner na nakatingin sakin.

"Yes." I answered.

"This way sir." He said and led me to a table.

Sinundan ko lang yung waiter.

"He's here!" Dad exclaimed ng makita ako.

Naglalakad palang ako palapit sa kanila.

There was Mom, Dad, 2 other people looked as the same age as Dad, and a girl.

Nakatalikod pa sa akin yung babae. She was sitting facing the table. I can only see her back.

Tumayo si Papa at Mama at nilapitan ako. Dad held my shoulder and looked at them.

"This is our son Alfred Marquez." Pagpapakilala sakin ni Dad sa parents ng babae.

"Nice to meet you Alfred. This is our daughter,"

Nakita kong pinatayo nila yung babae at hinarap ako.

My eyes widened right after I saw her face.

Her?

I know she was schocked to when she saw me. Halata sa expression niya.

They looked happy nang magtama ang tingin namin.

"Zoe Chrisselle Villaflor."

Pagpakilala ng Mama niya sakin.

Wtf?! Why her?! Ang dami daming babae sa mundo. Bakit siya pa?!

"You?!" Gulat na tanong ni Zoe.

I didn't said I word because I'm still shocked too.

"You guys know each other?" Nakangiting tanong ni Dad sa amin.

"Yeah.." I answered looking at her.

"Yes po. I met him already when I had my vacation in the philippines in tagaytay. Tsk, siya pala ang fiancee ko." Zoe answered and rolled her eyes at me.

Nakakairita yung pag ikot ng mata niya. Tsk. Bitch talaga.

"Zoe, be good." I heard her father warned her.

Tumungo lang si Zoe at tumingin ulit sakin ng masama. Does she have a problem with me? I thought she liked me? Psh.

"Come on let's sit first." Sabi ni Mama.

We followed mom at naupo na. Katapat ko si Zoe. At magkatapat ang parents ko sa parents niya.

"So magkakilala na pala kayo? Then hindi na kayo mahihirapan mag-get a long?" Tanong ng Mama niya sakanya.

"We're not close enough." Sagot ko sa Mama niya.

"Ah. Well that's not a problem. You two would be living in the same house, anyways."

Nagulat kaming dalawa sa sinabi ng Papa niya.

"Same house?!" Sabay pa naming tanong ni Zoe.

"Yes Son, inayos na namin. Pinadala na rin namin ang mga gamit niyo dun. You two already have your own house." Sagot samin ni Dad.

This is way too crazy. I'm 18 for heaven's sake! And they are letting me live with her already?!

"Dad!" Zoe said and seemed as if she doesn't like the idea either.

"What Zoe? Para lalo kayong magkakilala. The house is well-ventilated and It's really big. Plus, may pool pa." Sagot ng Papa niya.

"We know you guys know your limits. Kaya we have nothing to worry about." Sagot ng Mama niya.

"Ugh." Narinig kong bulong ni Zoe.

"Di naman kami nagmamadali. Ang kasal niyo siguro would be after Alfred's birthday next year. Para both of you would be 19. Legal age naman na." Sabi ni Dad.

I just nodded.

"Yung school pala na papasukan niyo Alfred, pagmamay-ari nila Zoe. Villaflor university. VU for short. Dun na kayo mag-aaral next sem." Sabi ni Mama sa akin.

Tumango lang kaming dalawa.

"By the way Alfred, I'm Sophie, and he's Clifford. We're Zoe's parents. You can call us Mom and Dad too if you want." Sabi ng Mama ni Zoe sakin at ngumiti.

"Okay po." Sagot ko lang at tumango.

Nag-order na si Dad ng makakain namin. We talked alot of stuffs too and I just nodded and nodded. Whatever. Bahala sila samin.

Napatingin ako sa kaharap kong si Zoe at nahuli ko siyang nakatingin sakin. She then rolled her eyes, again. Will she keep doing that? Baka di magtagal wala na siyang mata dahil sa'kin. Damn her eyes nakakairita.

Why is she my fiancee? A bitch, hardheaded, stubborn girl? I wish it was somebody else.

Mahihirapan ako nito.

"Goodbye Zoe and Alfred! Take care for the both of you!"

Pagpaalam ng parents ni Zoe at parents ko dito sa 'bahay namin' . Tumango kami at umalis na ang sinasakyan nila.

We weren't talking to each other the whole time. Pumasok na kami sa bahay. Dumiretso ako sa kwarto namin.

Yeah namin. Iisa lang din ang kwarto namin.

Napatingin ako sa pintuan ng kwarto ng bumukas ito.

Bumugad sakin si Zoe na ang sama ng tingin.

"What's your problem?" Masungit na tanong ko sakanya.

She's like that since we met a while ago. She looked so mad at me. Why? I haven't even done anything to her!

I'm being pissed off right now.

"Bakit ka pumayag sa kasal?!" Mataray at galit na tanong niya sakin.

"What's the problem if I agreed?" I asked her.

"I'm asking you first. Don't ask me back!" Sagot niya.

Maldita talaga.

"I want to, okay?" I simply answered.

"Why? I thought you didn't like me?" Poker face na tanong niya.

"I don't and never will. Sinunod ko lang ang utos ng parents ko. Now can you please shut up?" Tanong ko sakanya.

"I can't shut up cause I have a lot of questions. Psh. Ako din naman napilitan lang dito sa kalokohang 'to." Sagot niya at naiinis na naupo sa kama.

"I thought you like me?" Kunot-noo kong tanong sakanya.

Naalala ko pa kaya ang panlalandi niya sakin sa tagaytay.

"Ha ha ha. Are you kidding? Me? Like you? Oh please. I only flirted with you. That's all. And damn! Now I'm tied up with you for the rest of my life, I can't flirt with somebody else anymore!" She said looking all exhausted at sumubsob sa kama.

"Malandi." Tanging sabi ko lang.

"I have my reasons." She answered.

I didn't answer her anymore.

"We have to stop this marriage." She seriously said.

I looked at her with a poker face. "How? It's not like I have brother, and I know you don't have any sister."

"UGH!" Sigaw niya at sumubsob ulit sa unan.

'Di ko nalang ulit siya pinansin at nagsimulang mag-ayos ng gamit.

Bigla siyang bumangon. She then looked at me.

"Wait a sec, I thought you have a girlfriend? Hm, Chloe's her name right?" She asked curiously.

Di ko siya sinagot.

"Did you two break up because of me?" She asked and smirked.

Nang-aasar ba siya?

I glared at her for a while and walked to the door.

"Oh san ka pupunta?" Pagtatanong niya.

I looked at her before answering. "Away from you."  I said and opened the door.

I walked out and slammed the door.

Tsk. Does she really have to bring that topic up? Nakakairita talaga siya.

I guess I would be having a hard time living with my her.

But this will surely help me.

To forget her.
