Chapter 6
•Hiccup's POV•
I smirked as I looked over at Jack and Elsa. They were cuddling. Looks like Frosty finally got a girlfriend.
I felt a little jealous as I sat up with no one next to me.
If only Merida noticed me in that way. She seemed so strong and brave. She wouldn't need me. She's independent.
I stood up and brushed myself off and took a peek at her.
She looked so calm while sleeping, unlike her usual observant look. Always watching everything around her as if someone might attack at any given moment.
I smiled as she murmured in her sleep about bears. Cute.
I looked in my backpack and found a few eggs I could cook. "Punzie." I lightly shook her awake.
"Hm?" She hummed, still half asleep.
"Do you mind if I use your frying pan to make breakfast?" I asked. She shook her head and went back to sleep.
I quickly grabbed her frying pan and the eggs and looked for a sunny spot with a rock.
I found a flat one and set the pan down on it, waiting for the pan to heat up.
I laid back and just stared at the blue, blue sky, and the clouds. So white and puffy looking.
I smiled as I looked at one that reminded me of Toothless, my dragon. I'd left him in Berk when my face became known on wanted posters.
I had immediately fled to Corona, hoping to find an old friend.
I remember spotting Eugene at the Snuggly Duckling, before he became known. We quickly caught up and made a search to find Jack.
Every night, we'd call out the window, "Jack Frost," until our throats were sore.
And one day when we felt like giving up, he finally came. He came back, just as funny and care-free as ever.
I smiled on the old memories and remembered the food.
I got up and walked to the rock, inspecting the heat radiating off of the hot metal.
I quickly grabbed the eggs, cracking them open and pouring them into the pan. I used a stick to stir them around, making sure to leave one sunny-side-up for Eugene.
It felt weird calling him that. Eugene. I've always known him as Flynn.
I shrugged it off. As I started to think more and more about Eugene, I started to wonder if he had feelings for Rapunzel.
I'd noticed that sometimes he stared at the blonde a little longer than most would.
It'd be funny if he developed feelings for her. Especially since I had for Merida and Jack for Elsa.
I smirked to myself as I pulled a few bowls out of my bag and poured the eggs into them.
I also pulled out some cups which I filled with water from the stream next to us. I only had five, but since Jack and Elsa were so lovey-dovey, I figured they could share.
I brought the food to all of them and they all slowly woke up. Merida being the first.
"I smelled food," she grinned, sitting up immediately.
I laughed, "Eggs?" She nodded and I handed her a plate and water. She thanked me and started wolfing it down.
I chuckled and she looked up and with her mouth full of food said, "What?"
"Nothing." I shook my head. "You just eat so fast." She chuckled. "I've always wondered where I got it from. Me mum eats so proper, always complainin' 'bout how I should eat like a lady."
"That's just it though." She continued. "I don' want to be a proper lady. I don't want to have all these rules. I want to ride, fly! Chase the wind an' touch the sky!"
I laughed as she landed back on the soft grass, her hair flying everywhere.
"Back where I'm from," I told her. "My dad wanted me to be just like him. A brave warrior, strong, fierce, bold."
"What happened?" She asked me.
"I could never do it. My dad believed dragons were bad creatures. He claimed they wanted to destroy us, but I knew different."
She looked at me quizzically but nodded for me to continue.
"I met this one dragon, I call him Toothless. He definitely doesn't want to destroy me. I know it."
"I was eavesdropping one day, during my Dad's meeting with the others in charge." I confessed.
"They said they were planning to capture all the dragons and put them to death. So, I started stealing the cages. I stole them faster than they could make them."
"One night, someone saw me and told my dad who it was. He put out arrest warrants for me, but I hid Toothless in a cave before I left. I haven't been back for three years."
I was surprised as Merida hugged me. She didn't seem like the hugging type, but nonetheless, here she was, hugging me.
I hugged her back and thanked her.
When she pulled away she said, "That must 'ave been really hard for you ta do." I nodded.
We sat in silence before the others started waking up.
Eugene and Punzie gratefully ate their food, but Jack and Elsa stumbled a bit at sharing a cup.
•Jack's POV•
"Please, you take the water, Elsa." I begged. "No, you take it. I'm okay."
I sighed and tried again. "No really, I'm fine." She shook her head, about to say something before Rapunzel interrupted us.
"Why don't you two share?" She proposed.
We looked at each other and shrugged. I motioned Elsa to take the first sip and she did. I took a sip from the same side, not feeling like it mattered anymore.
"You know, they say that people who drink from the same side of the cup will be married." Hiccup said nonchalantly while taking a sip of his water.
I did a spit-take and it covered Hiccup from head to toe.
He grimaced as Merida snorted while laughing her head off. I looked to Elsa and saw she was blushing as Rapunzel elbowed her in the sides.
I smiled, "You caught me off guard, Hiccup, but you never know."
I laughed as Elsa's blush got even darker and she shot me a pleading look. I chuckled and just took another sip of my drink.
It's kind of fun to tease Elsa.
