Chapter 7

•Rapunzel's POV•

I sighed as I looked over at Eugene. That hair, that smile, and those dark brown eyes.

Just everything about him seems so...perfect.

"Punzie? Punzie!" I snapped out of my trance to see Elsa. "Its time to go," she told me.

I quickly stood up and brushed off my dress. How long was I day dreaming like that?

"You were just sittin' there for fifteen minutes," Merida said, like she read my thoughts. "What were ya thinkin' about?"

"Nothing," I blushed. Just Eugene Fitzherbert, the most amazing human in the world.

"So, Rapunzel," Eugene started.
Oh my gosh, he's speaking to me!

"You girls want to see the lights?" He asked. "Yes, for the past.... almost eighteen years," I told him.

"So, what's so special about these lights?" He inquired.

"Well, they appear every year on our birthday," I explained. "Wait, so today's your birthday?" He exclaimed.

"Oh my gosh, it is!" I realized. "Elsa! Merida! We're finally eighteen!"

I watched Merida face palm and Elsa just looked like she might kick herself. "I can't believe we're so stupid!" Merida yelled. "We forgot our own birthdays!"

"Happy birthday," Eugene grinned.

Oh, there it is. That smile. Is it possible that he actually...likes me? No, don't think that way. Don't get your hopes up.

But maybe, just maybe....

•Elsa's POV•

"So, you're eighteen now," Jack grinned and I nodded.

I blushed as he hugged me from behind as we walked and whispered, "Happy birthday," and kissed my cheek.

"Jack, what are we?" I asked him.
"People?" He chuckled.

"No, I mean, what are we, me and you?" I explained. He was silent before he said, "Whatever you want us to be."

"But, I need you to tell me," I laughed, a little frustrated. "What would you like us to be, Jack?"

"A couple," he whispered and I giggled. "Okay," I whispered back.

"Is it hard for you to walk like that?" I asked him. "Behind me?" He just laughed, leaving me confused.

"Elsa," he said, "I'm not walking. I'm flying." I gasped at his words and looked behind me.

Sure enough, he was just holding onto my waist with his legs drifting behind him. "How are you doing that?" I demanded.

"I met a boy once who said that, 'All it takes to fly is faith, trust, and a little bit of pixie dust,'" he laughed.

"For him, it was true," he said, "but I can fly simply because I'm a Guardian."

"What's a Guardian?" I asked.

"Like the Easter Bunny," he told me. I just gave him a bewildered look.

"She really had you locked away from the world," he mumbled. "Guardians are beings that protect children."

"Like parents?" He laughed at my comparison.

"No, let me explain. I'm Jack Frost, the Guardian of Fun. I bring fun to the world." I smiled at the thought of Jack playing with children.

"Who's the Easter Bunny?" I asked and he groaned. "Only the most annoying Guardian ever, but he claims the same about me, so it's alright."

"What is he the Guardian of?" I questioned. "He's the Guardian of Hope, his holiday is Easter."

I gave him a look and he continued, "Easter is a day in the month of April when children do these things called, 'egg hunts' where they search for eggs that have candy in them."

"Bunny makes the eggs," he told me.

"Are there other Guardians?" He sighed, "There are so many, but I'll tell you about the ones I know."

"There's Sand Man, but everyone calls him Sandy. He brings good dreams. There's North, kids call him Santa Claus. Guardian of Wonder."

"Then, there's Toothiana, the Tooth Fairy. Guardian of Memories. She's nice, but a little obsessed with my teeth," he laughed.

I tensed up as he talked about her. "Is she pretty?" I asked warily.

"Yeah, she's fairly pretty," he commented. "Why?" I gulped, "No reason."

"Aw, is Elsa jealous?" He chuckled, pinching my cheeks. I pushed his hand away, "No! I was just wondering," I excused.

"Sure you were," he teased. "C'mon, Elsa, you know you're the only one for me."

I blushed at his words. That was the sweetest thing anyone's ever said to me. "I love you, Elsa."

•Hiccup's POV•

We all sat around the fire for the second time. We'd recently set up camp since the Sun had gone down.

"Merida, why don't you sing a song?" Rapunzel suggested and Merida sternly disagreed.

"Oh, c'mon Merida, I'd love to hear you sing," I grinned.

"Oh, fine," she grumbled. "It's a story of sorts." She got comfortable on the grass before she started to sing in the most beautiful voice I'd ever heard.

"When the cold winds are a callin', and the sky is clear and bright! Misty mountains sing and beckon, lead me out into the light!"

"I will ride, I will fly! Chase the wind and touch the sky!" Her Scottish voice sang, "I will fly! Chase the wind and touch the sky!"

"Where dark woods hide secrets," she wiggle her eyebrows to suggest mystery.

"And mountains are fierce and bold! Deep waters hold reflections, of times lost long ago!"

"I will hear their every story, take hold of my own dream."

I grinned as she broke a thick twig in half singing, "Be as strong as the seas are stormy, and proud as an eagle's scream!"

"I will ride, I will fly! Chase the wind and touch the sky! I will fly! Chase the wind and touch the sky!"

"And touch the sky! Chase the wind, chase the wind! And touch the sky!" She finished and we all clapped for her.

"That was wonderful," I congratulated.
"Thanks, Hiccup," she grinned, a faint blush on her cheeks.

Was it possible, the independent girl in front of me, liked me back?
