A sigh of relief escapes my lips as I throw my fatigued body onto my temporary bed. After a solid two hours, I finally finished the assignment I have been tirelessly working on.
Once I left school in Australia, my focus was football, however there is life after football, therefore I also wanted an education. Furthermore, I went to university and studied physiotherapy. I was on a scholarship at the university and I was fortunate enough that they let me go to London and finish the final assignment here. All I had to do was submit it via email back to my professor.
Hence the big sigh, I just finished and finally submitted my assignment, which now I only needed to wait to get the results back.
Lying on this bed is ever so satisfying, however hardly productive, and I have some apartment searching to do.
The computer was running low on charge, so plugging in the charger, I open the screen and proceed to log on. The photo of my mum and I when I was seven, pops up on my lock screen. Later being swiped up to open my laptop.
My curser ventures to the left of the screen ready to click on google chrome. My hands type in something to do with appartments and flats in the vicinity of north London.
Some apartments and flats that popped up, were ones that are ready or are available to move in. I liked the sound of that because my stay at this hotel will be coming to an end.
After scrolling down a bit, a nice flat that is close to the training centre, catches my eye. It's in the halo tower which means there is an amazing view of London. If I can recall, Gracie lives at that place as well
It is a bit more expensive than I can probably afford at the moment, but the flat already has one person living there that will share the rent. That could possibly make it cheaper than what it needed to be which is great. If I pass my assignment, I should have extra cash because I can then get a job as a physiotherapist which will provide me with money.
The flat seems ideal and is a perfect distance away from the training grounds. In fact, it's not too far from Mesuts either. I come to a conclusion and decide this is the right flat which meets all of my needs. I apply for it.
Once I enter my details, the page takes me to another link which gives me times of when I can meet my potential flat mate.
Today's Thursday, and I have a training session this after noon, then another tomorrow. Followed by a game on Saturday. The time that appeals to me the most, is probably the Sunday in the afternoon, after my recovery session.
I flick an email of the time that I'll come, to the email provided in the box above. Now that the stress of finding an apartment is over, I shut my lap top and jump back on my unmade bed. Only to realise I indeed have another training. I could complain, but this is what I committed myself too.
For another time today, I get my tired butt off my still unmade bed, and turn the handle for the hallway cupboard to grab a towel. I usually train better after I shower, so that's what I will do. Today is my first official training for Arsenal, so I have to show that I am meant to be there, which means training my best.
After my shower, I did what anyone would do to have to prepare for training. However I came across a dilemma. In Australia, before matches and trainings, I would have a protein drink to give me more energy. I haven't had them recently, even before the trials, but now that I'm here, I should probably think of getting a Nutri bullet or something that will do the job.
All of this talk about smoothie and protein has made me hungry and crave for a shake, so I'll see if reception has one, or knows any local shops that have one. I still have 2 hours before I need to leave for training at 4pm, so I will have time to do so.
However my body is confused by the vibration in my pocket, which I soon realise is my phone. Taking it out, and turning it on, Mesut's name is present on the screen. What possibly could he want?
I slide to answer and talk into the phone.
"Hello Mesut," I greeted. He is soon to respond, sounding like he is in a rush.
"Hey Lana, was wondering if you needed a ride to training. The ladies usually train at the same time as us. 4pm right?" He questioned. Although I wasn't too keen on reuniting to the awkward terms we left on.
"Are you sure Mesut, I can get a taxi or an Uber. I don't want to bother you," I replied. Trying not to sound like I didn't want his presence.
"No no, I insist. It will be no problem. You are only a few minutes down the road anyway," he urged, like he was eager to see me. In that case I'm sure it won't be too awkward. It's not like Mandy will be with him this time.
"Okay, that would be lovely thank you Mesut. When will you be here?" I questioned.
"Sometime before 3pm sound alright?" He suggested. Honestly, that would be perfect timing because I still have time to go to reception, and shops if I need. And I'm all ready for training anyway.
"Yeah, Mesut that sounds great. Thank you," I reply. We say our goodbyes and soon after, hang up. Finally, I am able to sort out this smoothie craving.
In no time, my walk down the stairs is at an end because I'm only 8 floors up. The lady at the front desk is already looking at me weirdly, probably wondering why I didn't take the lift.
I soon approach her confused face that is still staring at me. Her face was caked in makeup, so I could barely make out what she would actually look like, but I'm not going to judge, because it's probably what she has to do for work. I'm so thankful that my job does not require me to wear makeup and uncomfortable outfits and uniforms. As footballers, we in fact have the comfiest clothes to wear, as it is deemed appropriate to wear tracksuits and kits almost everywhere. But I like it like that.
I come to the point where I should start talking to the lady, as I have been here staring at her caked face for a few too many minutes. After I ask her if she has any sort of smoothie or shake making appliance in the hotel, she denies any sort of thing, and is unable to inform me of any shops that may do either, which sucks. I'll have to go myself. I thank her anyway, not that I appreciated her help though.
The London breeze never fails to send shivers down my spine every time I step outside of this hotel. Looking down the street I am on, I can vaguely see a shop that somewhat looks related to appliances and kitchen stuff.
It's maybe a few minutes walk down the road, but it won't hurt to get loosened up before training. Checking the time on my watch, Mesut should be at the hotel in an hour and a half, as half and hour has already passed.
After walking through the shops for over an hour now, I have come across nothing. Nothing to cure my cravings. I guess all I can do has been done, and I'll have to make my way back to the hotel now.
A/N: Hey guys, this chapter is kind of a filler. Giving information to allow understanding in later chapters.
If you're interested, I got an operation on my knee 13 weeks ago from an injury I acquired in football training. I'm now in training again😆
