Chapter four: Vesuvius

The water slapped him, waking Barium up with a start. He snorted in surprise. An awkward meow sounded out. Radon had placed her paw in the water by accident.

Laughter. It wasn't Lunala not Jab. Barium turned around to be met with blue eyes. He jumped. He was not expecting this guy here.

He was a lizard. He had a yellow-cream body. He had a flame on his tail. He was standing up on two legs that had three, long claws on each. He had four fingers on his paws, and an amused look on his face.

He held out his yellow paw with a friendly smile. " My father, Paarthurnax sent me." He explained. Barium exchanged glances with Radon who shrugged at him. Her eyes said, it wouldn't hurt to shake this Pokémon's paw.

Barium reaches out and the shiny Charmander puts his into Barium's trotter. He moves his arm up and down. He releases and waves at Radon, before waving at the two bats.

Lunala was quizzical. " But, why are you here?" Radon asked him, hoping to get an answer. Barium hoped they would get an answer from this strange lizard man as well.

Of course they never did. " That doesn't matter. I'm here to help you." He tells them. " My name is Vesuvius. You know, like that volcano from legends about other dimensions? Like the volcano even exists." The Shiny Charmander introduced with a scoff.

Barium didn't know how to react this yellow lizard's comments. He's pretty...weird. Where does he come up with this nonsense? I know there's like dimensional Pokémon like Palkia, but what's he going on about there?

A volcano named Vesuvius? Sure it's a pretty cool name, but there is no such thing as a mount Vesuvius. Barium thought as he shook paws with Vesuvius. " Hello there, Vesuvius. My name is Barium. This Litten next to me is..." Barium began to introduce.

" My name is Radon. I can introduce myself, thank you very much." Radon spat with slight anger. Barium's ears found their way to the back of his head, and his tail somehow dropped as well.

He didn't mean to. He just wanted to introduce one of the most amazing girls he's has ever met. In fact, she was probably one of the only ones. Besides,
Maybe, Lunala.

" I'm Jab." Jab said, flying in front of Radon like the party was with him, even if it wasn't. " Nice to meet you....Whoa! Dad wasn't kidding when he said you had a legendary with you. Wow! Lunala!" Vesuvius breathes as his eyes got big in his eye sockets.

Lunala blushes in embarrassment. She was obviously not used to the attention. She is the legendary of the moon, though. It's only natural she would get this much attention, though.

Barium's lip quivered. " Oh right! We're supposed to be on our way to Prism. Come on, we have no time to waste. Everything we learn about will bring us closer to who stole the sun." Jab commented, seeing the look on Barium's face, and mistaking it for hastiness.

No one ever understood what he was sad about, or could even tell he was sad. Radon had hurt his feelings, and no one could even tell, or even cared.

He sighed as his friends started to walk in the sand of the Alolan Region. How Vesuvius got there was mysterious to him. " Are you coming, amigo?" Jab asked him, head slightly tipped at Barium.

Barium nods, confidence flaring in his eyes. He didn't know how this would end, but he was sure whatever was going to happen, it wouldn't be good. He felt as if he had a murderous steel type on his back, but he wasn't sure why.

He shivered. It felt as if someone or something was following them. He shrugged it off as he trotted back to catch up to his friends.

They coursed through the tall grass. The grass tickled Barium's nose. His nose snorted and wiggled. He snuffled in a lot of air.

His nose has been irritated by the grass. He then sneezed loudly. He rubbed the snot from his snout. He felt miserable. His face got smacked by the grass. He pressed his trotter to the grass, and stepped on the ground.

The grass was smooshed under his trotter. This grass was too tall. How can anyone keep this grass that high? He wondered. Was it because of the other wild Pokémon living around here, who don't exactly have a designated home? He ponders, carefully stepping over the grass, trying not to get irritated by the grass once more.

He was so focused on gettin through the grass that he didn't notice his friends stopping. Though, he managed to stop in time before he ran into Radon's behind. He was sure she would be even more pissed at him if he did that.

He did not want to annoy her any longer. He did not want to upset her. He knew some Pokémon were very delicate, not that he's saying Radon was not strong. He just knew some Pokémon were very...sensitive.

" Unfortunately, we will have to go a way where humans tread." Lunala warned. That made Radon groan. " I hate humans. They capture us and make us attack each other for sport. I wish we could completely avoid those selfish humans." She hissed, back arched in disdain.

Honestly, Barium agreed with her. Some humans were nice, but for the most part of what he's seen and heard of them...humans are the real monsters, though whoever stole the sun was right up their ally.

Barium could understand why anyone would want to rob the Earth of it's sun. He didn't even see the appeal. There was no appeal in trying to take a big ball of hot...elements.

Barium's trotter hit something harder than just sand, dirt, and grass. He gulped as his eyes trailed down to the ground. It was...a human contraption they called a road.

" I-I don't think I can do this." He discouraged himself, feeling his body shake. A paw was placed on his shoulder. Furry. Radon. His face aluminates with a blush.

" Don't discourage yourself, Barium." She meows, pressing her muzzle against his side. She swiftly retreated her muzzle, unfortunately. He gulped.

Easy for you to say, he thought as he glanced at the road ahead. He didn't like this idea at all. Why'd he think he was cut out for this? He couldn't do this.

The road was very dangerous. That was when Radon races on the road. " Be careful!" He called out to her. She glanced back with amusement. " It's fine. Just don't keep me waiting, scardey-chu!" She meowed, making it across to the other side.

Lunala easily flew over alongside Jab. Now there was only Vesuvius and himself left. He didn't like this. He hated this idea. Is there a different way across? He asked him, trying to find a shortcut.

From what he could see, there was absolutely nothing. No easy way like Lunala and Jab's way. Dig? He wondered. He didn't know Dig, so that option was out of order.

Barium wanted to admit defeat. He wasn't cut out being a Starter Squad member. He wasn't brace enough. He wasn't courageous enough. He could do it! I can't do it! I won't do it! He thought.

Vesuvius was glancing at him from besides him. Vesuvius had a look of courage. " If you can't do this by yourself, we will go together, friend!" He cheerfully said as he grabbed Barium's trotter and started to drag him across the blackness of death.

Barium shook his head. " We're not going to make it!" He whined as he saw a car. It was like a scary video game. It was impossible to cross the road when it was like this.

He closed his eyes. " We're gonna die. We're going to die." He repeated as his trotters felt hot beneath him. They were being dragged against the road. The deadly road that they just happened to need to cross.

Vesuvius let go of his trotter. Frightened, Barium opened his eyes. " We're...across?" He questions, shaking a little. A wing brought him closer to Lunala. " It's okay, kid. You're okay, now." She soothed, like a mother would to their children.

" We must get going." Radon meowed, ignoring the groans coming from Jab. " I'm hungry." How can one be hungry when we just crossed the river of death? Barium exaggerates in his head as he miserably follows his friends.

He was starting to think that he should head back, but the voice of the one who needed him most kept on coming into his brain.

He had to continue this, for them. Yes. He must save the world from never ending darkness and crossing rough terrain was the only way to do so. Be brave. He reminded himself as he caught up to his friends. His friends that were so focused on this mission.

This mission to find a Lycanroc so special that she was probably the only one of her kind, perhaps. The Pokémon world was in fact a huge one.

" Whoa!" Radon breathes as she stops in front of him. Huh? Barium asks as he stops. They were on the side of the road. He hoped no one was stupid enough to run over Pokémon here.

" What is it?" He asked as he paused to stare at a big lab in front of them. " Is that a professors lab?" Jab questions. " Yes. We must be very careful. If there's any human who would want to capture us, it would a professor. Then again, professor don't usually capture. They just study." Lunala warns and remarks.

They nod. " If we can sneak past the lab without drawing any attention, then we will be free to find Prism at Ten Carat Hill." Lunala tells them.

" This is officially a spy mission!" Jab squeals. He hides behind the building playfully. It was as if this was some sort of game to him. This wasn't a game! Barium panicked. He hated being noticed. If that professor sees them, it could be game over, as the professor would catch them.

It was even worse since three of them were starters, one was a shiny so that would be a major catch alert, and another was a legendary.

He gulped. He set his trotters down slow and carefully. Radon groaned. " This is way too slow." She remarks. She then raced over the ledge, running straight into a rock.

At that moment, Barium didn't care if the dang professor saw him, all he was worried about was whether Radon was okay or not. Please let her be okay. He begged Arceus as he raced over to the female. She was lying straight on her back, stunned.

Whether or not she was okay, she would surely feel that sometime soon. There would be a bump on her forehead. Ouch.

" Are you okay?" He gasps, trying to help by putting his trotters on her. He was trying to steady her. Please don't be mad at me, he begs silently. He didn't want to get her all mad at him again.

Radon presses a paw against her forehead. Something was on her paw." Oh motherfucker." Jab curses with ease.

There was blood. Barium's eyes widened. He rarely sees blood. Like ever. He heard paw steps. The rock in front of them breaks.

A Pokémon widens her eyes as she sees them. " I thought I heard visitors." She barked. She was an orangish, wolffish pokemon. She had a white tail, white legs and feet, her muzzle was also white, and white on her head. Other parts of her were brown. Rocks were sticking out of her fur and the top of her fur was brown as well.

Her green eyes grazed over the Pokémon. They found their way to Radon. " You're hurt, Litten!" She barked, running over to Radon's side.

Barium wasn't worried. He was sure this was who they were looking for, either way this Pokémon didn't seem like a bad Pokémon. She then looks at all of them.

For a moment she seems surprised. " All of you must come inside my cave at once. We must talk." She barked.

Man it's been forever since this has been updated. Glad I updated when I did. I'm just surprised I didn't go straight back into watching FNaF videos. Oh well, hope you like it. Was there really something or someone following Barium and the gang? Was there some sort of clue to the storyline that was in this chapter? Will Prism or whoever this Lycanroc is tell them something important?
