Chapter 4
Okay, blah, blah, blah. Oh, look, schools out. Really boring if you want to go through the whole school day. Time to pick up Melissa.

As the bell rings in 7th period, I hurry to my locker, grab my morning binder and head to the parking lot. Jason comes out of the building a minute later, looking slightly ruffled. I groan inwardly, remembering that Jason has to come with me. He spots me and heads for the car. As soon as he gets in the car, I start it and head to the airport.
He was so engrossed with what he was doing on his phone that he didn't look up until we got to the airport, though he should've realized that the trip was longer than usual. "This isn't the house, this is the airport. What are we doing here?" he asked skeptically. "There's a transfer student and Dad's making me pick her up. Stay in the car Jason." I told him. He nodded briefly before returning to his phone. I rolled my eyes and got out of the car.
As I sat waiting for Melissa's plane to land, I played on my phone. After I finished my level, I glanced at the time, 4:05. "The plane should be here by now." I muttered to myself. I got up and went over to the desk. "When is the plane from Kennewick, Washington coming in?" I asked the lady behind the desk. She looked at her chart and said, "It should be in right now. The people should be coming through right now. Oh, look, there they are now." I quickly murmured my thanks and left to find Melissa. It was surprisingly easy, seeing as I had a rough description on her. As soon as I saw her, I helped her with her bags and brought her to my car.
On the way there she made small talk with me. "So, who are you?" She asked me. I glanced at her, then stuck out my hand and said sarcastically, "Oh, I'm sorry, I'm Stephen. I'm the guy who you are being sent to compete with. And, my sixteenth birthday is next week, so you, Melissa are formally invited to it." "Oh, so you're the al-" her words were quickly cut off by me clamping my hand firmly over her mouth. She looked faintly surprised. "Yes, I'm the alpha's son, though not everybody here knows about werewolves, and not many people would be as understanding as the few humans that do know. So you're a werewolf too? That wasn't in the description Matt's dad gave him." I whispered, though the last part I murmured to myself. She quickly replied, "Yes, I'm a werewolf, and by the way, I can try to go to your birthday party, but I'm only going to be here for a week. I didn't catch your last name by the way." I looked at her, "You can ask Matt that question, you'll be staying at his house anyways."
By that time, we had reached the car and I put her bags in the trunk, while she tried to get in the front seat before realizing that Jason was already there. "Hey, Stephen, are you sure this is your car." I just looked at her and laughed, "That's my brother Jason, he came with me only because I didn't feel like stopping at home first. You have to sit in the back." After I successfully put her bags in the trunk, I ran to the driver's seat and started the car. Melissa was obviously kind of miffed because she didn't even try to talk the whole ride to Matt's. I was just starting to welcome the silence when she asked, "Who is Matt anyways?" "Ugh, Matt is the beta's son." I told her as we finished the drive and pulled up in his driveway.
