Chapter Five

Skye held the flashlight in her hand. Her and Coulson were wandering through the old, abandoned building that Ward had tortured Bobbi in. They had checked almost every room, and Coulson was beginning to think that this was all just one big joke.
"Daisy," Coulson said finally as they looked in a room. "We've looked through pretty much every room in the building. I think it's time we go."
"Just one more minute," Skye replied.
She walked out of the room and down the hallway. She found another hallway and made her way through it. She opened a door at the end of the hallway and slowly crept inside. She slowly crept to the back of the room to see a huge bookshelf.
"Coulson!" Skye called. "You might want to see this!"
Coulson stormed down the hallway and came up next to Skye. He slowly looked up.
"Wow."
"Look at all these," Skye said as her and Coulson examined the books. "Hey look at this one-"
She began to pull out a huge book that was larger than the others. But then it stopped right on the edge of the shelf and didn't let her pull it out anymore. She yanked at it. Nothing. Then all of a sudden the bookcase started to shake.
"It's not me!" Skye told Coulson.
All of a sudden, the bookcase split in two, and slowly started to move apart, creating a wide walkway. Once the path was wide open, the book cases stopped moving, and settled. Skye looked at Coulson, a hint of excitement in her expression. She slowly walked inside with Coulson following. She shined her flashlight into the small room that the hallway led them into. Then something caught her eye. She shined her flashlight to the back of the room and gasped. Big, boxes with green liquid inside them sat on shelves. Skye and Coulson walked over to them and read the label.
"Brainwash Medicine," Skye read. She turned to Coulson with a concerned look on her face. "Can't get any more clearer than that."
She popped open the box and took out one of the bottles of green liquid. She read the label on the bottle aloud.
"This liquid is to brainwash people's minds. If you give this to someone, it will erase their memory for up to a month. As long as you keep giving it to them, it will work as long as you wish. All you have to do is have someone drink it, and their memories will slowly slip away. They will still remember the people in their lives, just not the loving connections that they had with them. The only way to get a person out of this spell, is to have them hit their head really hard, making them pass out. Then, they won't remember any of the memories they had while they were brainwashed." Skye finished reading it and sighed. She had mixed emotions. She actually felt terrible for Ward. She grieved for him. Kara had tricked him and tortured him and got him to do whatever she wanted.
"Kara did this," Skye said and turned to Coulson.
He looked back at her with the same, terrified expression.
"She brainwashed him, and then made him not remember the team or anyone of us," Skye explained. "Then when he saw us again he remembered for a couple seconds, and he began to become good again. But then Kara gave him more of this stuff and made him torture Bobbi and almost kill Hunter. She made him miss her and care for her. Ward wasn't the evil one, Kara was."
"And that's why he can't remember anything," Coulson added as he realized everything. "Because you knocked him out with your seismic waves and he hit his head. So all the memories with Kara disappeared."
"And he went to start Hydra again because he knew we hated him and he didn't know why," Skye added. "He didn't know that he had killed Kara, or tortured Bobbi or-"
"We need to get this back to the base and have Simmons examine it," Coulson told her. "Then we will see if Ward recognizes it somehow."
Skye nodded and grabbed a whole box full. Coulson did too before closing the bookshelf and leaving with Skye.

"Hmmm," Simmons said as she examined the liquid. "Yup this is all very real and true. This can definitely erase you're memories and confuse you. And then when you hit your head you will forget all your memories that you had while you had this stuff in you. This definitely could have happened to Ward."
"Alright," Coulson said. "Let's see if Ward recognizes it."
Skye grabbed a bottle of the liquid and got in a Quinn jet to go see Ward in the training facility. Coulson, Bobbi, and Hunter went with her.
"I've got to see that he doesn't remember any of this for myself," Hunter said flatly.

Once they got there, Skye went into the training room where Ward was while Coulson, Bobbi, and Hunter watched through a window.
"Skye," Ward said as she came into the room, the guards closing the door behind her. "Did you find anything?"
Skye held out a bottle of liquid and popped off the top. "Take this."
Ward looked at her cautiously and slowly took it from her hand.
"Smell it," Skye ordered.
Ward slowly lifted it up to his nose and took a whiff of the liquid in. All of a sudden, memories came flooding into his brain. He remembered the awful smell of this stuff, and he hated it. He remembered having a blurry vision of Kara giving him this stuff, and being forced to drink it. He dropped the bottle of liquid and leaped back, yelling in fear. Skye gasped and leaped away as the bottle spilled out across the floor. She watched Ward, horrified. Ward fell to the floor and wrapped his arms around himself, trying to comfort himself. But he was traumatized, and started trembling and shaking. He whimpered to himself. Skye couldn't help but feel terrible for him. The stuff had traumatized him. Coulson, Bobbi, and Hunter watched in horror.
"Ward?" Skye asked and slowly knelt down next to him. "Ward."
She gently put her hands on his shoulders, comforting him, in a way. "Ward," she said softly and looked down at him.
Ward slowly looked up at Skye with his handsome eyes. He felt her gentle hands on his shoulders, comforting him, and making sure he was okay. She's like an angel.
"What.......happened?" He asked finally.
Skye sighed and remembered that Coulson, Bobbi, Hunter, and the guards were all watching her. She got up away from Ward and began telling him what happened. He slowly got up and looked at Skye, shocked.
"I didn't mean to try and kill Hunter and torture Bobbi," he said. "I swear."
"I know," Skye replied. "And we have proof of that now. I cleared your name. But that doesn't mean you have a clean past and everyone is gonna love and accept you. You still betrayed us and almost killed Fitzsimmons."
"I know," Ward told her. "And I'm sorry."
Skye sighed and tried to clear her memory of those thoughts. "I'm coming back to train you tomorrow."
With that she turned to leave.
"Actually," Coulson interrupted as he came through the doorway. "I want to see Ward's abilities now. Let's see what you've trained him to do so far."
"Alright," Skye replied, taking on Coulson's challenge. Then she turned to Ward. "Show 'em your skills."
Ward smirked and lifted up his hands, palms facing the floor. Fire came surging out, and soared all over the floor. He made a circle around himself and made the flames grow tall. Then he lifted his hand up and created a fire ball hover over his palm. He made the ball grow bigger and raised it up to the ceiling. Coulson looked up, impressed. But then Ward's hand shook and he felt himself lose control. The fire grew bigger and dangerously close to Skye and Coulson.
"Ward!" Skye yelled. "Control!"
Ward's hands continued to shake and he realized he had gone too far with his powers.
"Control!" Skye yelled.
Ward finally got his control back and twisted his wrists to stop the fire. The flames slowly grew smaller and eventually disappeared.
Ward turned to Skye who turned to Coulson.
"He's getting there," Skye explained to Coulson. "We still need to work on controlling his power more than showing off."
"Well I can't exactly focus with those guards there constantly watching me," Ward added and looked at Coulson.
"Well you'll have a lot more people watching you when you go into the field," Coulson told Ward.
"Yes but then my powers will be finished," Ward said. "Right now I'm just training. And wait, did you just say that I'll be going into the field, sir?" Ward asked with a smirk and a raised eyebrow. "Are you ever gonna tell me what your plans are with me?"
Coulson sighed and glanced at Skye. "I'll leave that up to you to tell him," he told Skye before leaving.
Skye sighed, annoyed that Coulson left her to tell Ward the big news.
"So," Ward said as he folded his arms and looked down at Skye intimidatingly. "What are your plans for me?"
Skye looked up at him and sighed. "Alright. I'm gathering an Inhuman team for Coulson."
"Oh," Ward said, disappointed. "So he will be the leader."
"No," Skye corrected and looked up at him. "I will be the leader. I'm the one creating the team."
"And how's that going for you so far?" Ward asked and raised an eyebrow playfully.
Skye sighed. "Not exactly as planned. I have a couple Inhumans but not much. The ATCU is taking all of them before I can even lay a finger on them. And you don't even want to know about Lash."
"Wait who's the ATCU?!" Ward asked. "And Lash?!"
Skye sighed again and cocked her head. "You don't need to know everything. You've heard enough. I'll see you tomorrow."
She turned to leave.
"Skye wait," Ward told her and put a hand on her shoulder.
She turned around so she was facing him. "What?"
"Please get Coulson to get these guards out of here," Ward pleaded.
"Alright, I'll tell him," Skye said and left with the guards.
But this time when she left, she felt different about Ward. Like there was actually, a chance for them.
