Third Person's POV
"This will be your outfit," Taehyung explains as he holds the attire in his hand and flashes the younger a gracious smile. His teeth show and his wet hair sticks to his forehead as his head tilts. Jungkook's eyes nearly burst from their sockets as he shakes his head frantically.
"W-What? No! This- it's- it's too formal for me! I'm only a maid, I can't-" Taehyung's hardened eyes silence the younger. Jungkook clamps his lips shut. His eyes remain wide while they flash with shock and disbelief. There was no way Jungkook could wear that outfit.
"You seem to forget that as the Prince, I get to decide what you can and cannot do. No one else has the privilege of giving you orders. Why? Because your title states that you are mine. Not even my father can command you." Jungkook's shocked eyes meet Taehyung's. The Prince simply grins and strides forward until they are only a foot apart.
"You'll be meeting my cousin, a Prince from the Kingdom of Breminglar. As far as I'm aware, I believe someone will be accompanying him." Taehyung's kind eyes gaze into Jungkook's as the younger trembles with nervousness. "You and I will be impressing my uncle and the royals from Breminglar. Therefore, we must wear the fanciest attire possible, okay?"
Taehyung allows his hands to set down the attire and reach out to calm Jungkook down. The younger falls into the Prince's embrace and sighs in relief. "You'll be beside me the entire time. You are untouchable, remember that. Now, let me style you." How could the younger say no?
The morning truly begins as Taehyung instructs Jungkook to change into the attire. Given basic instructions, the younger disappears into the bathroom to change. Taehyung takes that chance to change as well as he slips off the royal attire created just for him.
As the doorknob twists and the younger is slowly revealed through the opening door, Taehyung's eyes widen and his lips part in shock. Jungkook stands in the doorway shyly. He plays with his hands and keeps his head down as Taehyung marvels and stares.
"Holy shit," he curses. He drops whatever he held in his hand to the ground. It falls with a thud as he rushes over to the younger and gawks. "Does it look bad?" Jungkook asks.
Taehyung gulps. Holy fuck, he thinks. Bad?
"You're joking, right, Kook?" At this, Jungkook's eyes find Taehyung's, and the Prince's world stops entirely. His head spins and his heart hammers painfully in his chest. His palms sweat and his jaw nearly drops open in utter surprise.
Jungkook looked ethereal.
"Holy- Jungkook. You... you look..." The Prince couldn't even muster a word out as he stared and admired every inch of the younger. "You're breathtaking. Ethereal. Absolutely gorgeous." Jungkook's cheeks blazed red as he flashed a pretty little smile at the Prince.
"You really think so, your highness?" It made Taehyung's breath hitch as the younger eyed him shyly. The things Jungkook was doing to him were surreal.
Taehyung's patience was running thin.
"Absolutely, Jungkook. Come on, let me style your hair and get the rest of the outfit finished up. We're almost done." And so, Taehyung worked to style Jungkook's hair as he carefully slipped a royal pin on the chest of the attire.
Slipping on their polished shoes, Taehyung placed the crown neatly upon his head and smiled. He had taken a liking to his crown. It suited him well, or at least, he thought so. "How do I look, Kook?" He asked the younger.
When he turned, he was met with Jungkook's surprised face. His cheeks were burning red and his eyes seemed to be clouded over with something. His hands fell at his side aimlessly and he looked as if he were in some trance.
"Kook?" The Prince teased. The younger snapped out of it. He blinked rapidly and shook his head as he forced a smile and released a giggle. "Stunning, Taehyung. As always." It warmed Taehyung's heart to hear such a compliment from Jungkook.
With that, the two left Taehyung's suit and strode down the corridors. Maids littered the hallway and guards lined up near the throne room. When the civilians caught sight of the Prince and the maid beside him, they froze and dropped to their knees in respect.
"Hold your head up higher," Taehyung commanded softly. The younger did as the Prince said. "Straighten your posture a bit and give me your hand." Again, Jungkook complied with ease. He straightened his back and tilt his head so that he was staring straight ahead.
In addition to that, he gave Taehyung his hand as the Prince took it. Effortlessly, he slipped his own hand into Jungkook's and intertwined their fingers together. With a firm squeeze, he stole a glance at the younger to see his lips part in shock, and eyes widen slightly.
"Be confident, you're beautiful," the Prince commanded gently. He squeezed Jungkook's soft hand in his own as the guards pulled the doors to the throne room open. Everyone stared at the Prince and his personal maid as they strode in confidently and marched right up to the King and Queen.
"Taehyung," the King greeted. The Prince nodded as Jungkook began to lower his head. Taehyung may not want Jungkook to bow for him, but the King and Queen were a different story. Just as Jungkook was about to kneel, the doors burst open and the attention shifted.
Taehyung turned as Jungkook stood at his side. They watched as the royals from the Kingdom of Breminglar walked in and the entire Kingdom fell to their knees. The King of Fruma smiled at the King of Breminglar.
The Prince's eyes landed upon his cousin's, Namjoon's, and the male beside him. Jungkook's head fell respectively and his knees began to buckle as he attempted to kneel.
But Taehyung's tight squeeze on the younger's hand prevented that from happening. Jungkook glanced at the Prince as Taehyung held his head up, turned his face blank, and pulled Jungkook back up.
"Do not kneel." Jungkook obeyed instantly. He lifted his head and straightened his posture as he met the royals before him. They all radiated power. They flashed their riches as the entire throne room fell silent and waited for the Kings' commands.
"Taehyung, Jungkook, Namjoon, and Seokjin," Taehyung's father called. They all turned their attention to the King. "Run along now. Be back before supper, understood?" Jungkook wanted to gasp in utter disbelief, but Taehyung's tug on his hand silenced him once more.
The four males raced out of the throne room and breathed sighs of relief. "Taehyung!" Namjoon shouted as he nearly tackled the Prince to the ground. Jungkook's hand and Taehyung's hand broke apart as the Prince hugged his cousin tightly.
"Namjoon! Good to see you again!" Namjoon smiled as they pulled away. His attention turned to Jungkook and his head tilted. "I don't recall seeing you the last time I visited. What's your name? Are you a royal?" Taehyung glanced at Jungkook.
"No, your majesty, I'm Taehyung's personal maid. My name is Jeon Jungkook." Taehyung pulled the younger close to him as his arm wrapped around the younger's waist protectively. "Father instructed me to make him look like a royal."
At that, Seokjin's eyes widened and his smile returned. "I see. Well, when's the set date?" Taehyung smiled at the elder Prince and tilted his head to the side. "Next year." Jungkook stood totally confused and awestruck.
What the hell was going on?
"Right. Jungkook," the Prince called, "This is my cousin Namjoon and his Prince, as well as soon-to-be husband, Seokjin. They're the next rulers for the Kingdom of Breminglar." Jungkook's eyes widened. Husband? They were engaged?
And so young too?
"Nice to meet you, sweetheart. I know what you're thinking. Married so young? Yes," the male laughed, "I've been engaged to Namjoon for almost a year. Our wedding is soon."
"I didn't know that was allowed," Jungkook mumbled shyly. Every kingdom he had seen or heard of had one King and Queen. There were one female and one male, but never two males or two females.
"Gay marriage is rare and quite forbidden in the history of the Kingdoms, but we don't really care. I'm in love with my fiance and even the rules cannot change that, Jungkook." The younger adored this male. He was older, no doubt about that, but he had this extremely powerful and motherly aura to him.
"So, there will be two Kings?" The younger asked shyly. Seokjin, the brunette beside Namjoon, simply smiled as he approached the younger. Jungkook forced himself to hold his gaze with the elder. He was taller than Jungkook but a good few inches. "Only one, sweetheart. I'm the future Queen."
Queen.
The title replayed within the younger's mind like a broken record. It repeated itself over and over again until it was memorized within his mind. A Queen. A male who stood as the Queen?
Something within him grew. The fire burned brighter than ever before. Its flames were hot and merciless as desire coursed within him. He stole a glance at the Prince as Namjoon and Taehyung talked quietly.
A Queen.
If Seokjin could be one, why couldn't he? Surely his chances were probably low considering he was only a personal servant to the Prince, but maybe they weren't. Taehyung did an awful lot for Jungkook. He did a lot, more than "just a friend" would, right?
He called him beautiful, breathtaking, gorgeous, and even ethereal. Friends wouldn't do that, right? No. Not just friends.
Then did this make them more than friends?
Taehyung held his hand. He styled him to look like a royal. He requested for Jungkook to have a royal horse. He gifted him flowers daily, fresh hand-picked ones too. He opened doors for him and never let him bow to him.
So, was it possible he had a chance?
Seokjin smiled as he eyed the younger carefully. There was that familiar glint in Jungkook's eyes, one Seokjin himself knew all too well. With a firm hand on his shoulder, he leaned in to whisper something.
"The Prince," he whispered, "what is he to you, Jungkook?" Jungkook's eyes widened as his attention shifted from the busy princes to the male before him. "Be honest with me, sweetheart. The way you look at him says he's more than just a friend."
Jungkook's heart hammered. "I'm only his personal maid, your highness." Seokjin's warm laughter made his palms sweat with nervousness. "I'm not asking about your title, sweetheart. I'm talking about what he is to you. And don't say he's just a prince. There's more, don't be shy."
Jungkook smiled softly and nodded. "My heart races when I'm around him. I don't know what it means. He makes me really happy and nervous at the same time. Do you have a clue?" Seokjin's eyes glimmered as he gently pat the younger's shoulder.
"As I expected. You have a crush on the Prince, yes?" His voice was quiet and hushed so that Taehyung couldn't hear their conversation. Jungkook knew there was something more, but he could never indicate what. So this was what it was? A crush?
"Keep your head up, Jungkook. Taehyung has some marvelous plans in store for both of you." That's all that was said between the two before Seokjin turned away and clung to Namjoon's right arm with a few words.
Taehyung glanced at the younger and smiled. "So, how do you like them? Namjoon can be a little stern sometimes, but he's smart and always means well! Jin is super fun to be around. He's really motherly. I can't wait to see him become a Queen."
Jungkook's eyes were glistening and sparkling beautifully. A Queen. He had a chance, didn't he? "They seem like a perfect couple," Jungkook whispered shyly. The Prince intertwined their fingers together again and hummed in mutual agreement.
"So, what did Jin talk to you about?" Jungkook's cheeks blazed pink a bit but he smiled and pushed aside the question. "Nothing really. He just wanted to know how I became your personal maid, that's all." Lying to the Prince was something Jungkook had never done before.
But he couldn't confess what Jin had said. Not yet.
"I really hate that title, you know," Taehyung grumbled. His eyes rolled in annoyance and he pinched the bridge of his nose with his free hand. Jungkook's eyebrows furrowed. "You do? Why?"
Taehyung stared at the younger. "You're not my maid. I wish the kingdom would quit addressing you as one." Jungkook's eyes softened as he gently brushed Taehyung's fallen strands of hair aside and let his fingers trace the Prince's cheek.
"What title would you rather them address me as?" Jungkook questioned. He was curious. If the Prince hated his title, then which one would be acceptable? Taehyung simply smiled as he squeezed Jungkook's soft hand in his own and flashed a beautiful smile.
"A prince."
