Brothers
"This is stupid." Casey huffed. His legs ached as they ventured higher and higher. "I can't believe the turtles talked us into this. We have to look through a whole group of middle schoolers to find stinky girl."
"Casey that's not nice!" April huffed, "Besides, you heard what Donnie said. She might have some key information on the kraang. They took her brother."
"Who cares! We don't even know her!"
"Casey..." April stopped walking, "You know about what the kraang did to my family."
"You're different, Red. I know you. Plus, you don't run when offered help. I'm sorry but I just don't trust her."
"She's just scared." April walked past Casey. "I- I used to be too. But hey! At least I have my dad. But her- well- we don't know if she has anybody." April turned around staring straight at Casey. "Can you even imagine what that must be like?"
"Yes."
"What- Casey I-"
"Forget it, Red." Casey swallowed bitterly, grateful his mask hid his face. "Sooner we find her, sooner we can leave."
...
(Y/N) could feel her heart start to pound.
The teacher decided it would be a good idea to count the students, to make sure none of them were missing.
But what would she do when she counted her?
(Y/N) shook her head, she had to go. No doubt that the turtles were finding someway to sneak in.
But just as she was going to leave the group, she saw to faces. The girl who had helped her and givin her clothing, and the guy she really didn't like.
She turned around instantly, holding her breathe.
No! No! They can't be here!
She started walking forward until suddenly, a megaphone squealed.
"Sorry to interrupt the touring! But we are looking for a lost young lady!"
(Y/N) turned around.
That bastard.
Standing not less then a few yards away, was Casey, convincing the officer he was looking for his "sister."
All eyes turned to her. The description was perfect, almost as if by photographic memory.
(Y/N) frowned as Casey fake hugged her, asking if she was okay and saying that she should never do that again.
"You're very lucky to have a brother like him." The officer said, "Who knows what would've happened to you if you wandered out into one of the biggest cities in the world."
(Y/N) faked a smile, feeling tears start to come to her eyes. She didn't want a fake brother. She wanted her brother. She wanted to find him and make sure he was okay. And if he was dying, she wanted to tell him that she loved him. The last thing she wants is for her brother to remember her watching with those eyes. Unmoving, still, and dead.
Because that is how she currently felt.
Dead.
Life has a purpose. That's what she was always told. Her purpose was to find her brother. But as Casey starts walking, she walks. She feels another hand around her back. It's April. April gives a small smile but she didn't look happy.
She looked like she understood.
There was dings. Noises indicated that she was found. Agreements of being brought back to the lair. Was she asked what she wanted? Pfft. Of course not. Right now she was just a prisoner.
As soon as they were back in the sewers and pin-ball machine noises entered her head, (Y/N) started to fight.
"No!" She screamed, she ran two feets, before Casey had his arms around her torso.
"Grab her feet!" He yelled.
April somehow managed to get a grip on (Y/N). She still screaming and just hoping thy would let her go. Let you go find your brother.
As the three made it in, the pin-ball machine noises stopped. The TV in the background clicked off. All that range was her cries like a small child.
"I just want Jake!"
She can feel a quietness around herself. They were waiting for her to stop. Not yelling at her to shut up, but letting her take this moment to finally let it out.
"I want my brother. I have to fix-"
Hiccups started. April and Casey let her go. She sat, hugging her legs.
"We're going to help you. We- personally know the kraang." Leo said.
"I don't know the kraang!"
"They were the ones who took your brother." Raph nodded.
"Yea! I mean- just look! The description that you wrote fits them perfectly. Even I had the same suspicions!"
"You- you read my journel! You!" Suddenly, (Y/N)'s anger focused on Raph. "You told me to write what caused my nightmares! You never told me you would read it!"
"But it helps!"Mikey exclaimed. "It really does help."
"Has he snooped through your journel too?"
"(Y/N) please!" She could see the frustration in Raph's eyes. But right behind it looked lie guilt, or that he was hurt. "This was the only way to get any answers out of you."
"We really can help you (Y/N)." Donnie walked toward his lab. "Come."
All went to his lab, gathering around many experiments and inventions.
On a shelf is a head made of metal.
"This is the basically the kraangs skeleton. What you saw was a covering the kraang use so they can blend in with society. Tell me, did theses men wear black suits?"
Instantly: "Yes."
"I have feared this." Sensei was suddenly at the door.
For some reason, (Y/N) felt this embarrassment. She barely knew him, but she didn't want him to think her a disturbance. He had probably just heard her scream like a child not too long ago.
"It seems that kraang are not only in New York. (Y/N) come with me."
You wanted to say no but your feet instantly moved for the door, following him. No doubt this was going to be some kind of interrogation. He was probably going to use some type of tricks with wording so you would end up fessing up on accident.
As you two enter the dojo, he nods toward a photo.
"You are not the only one who has felt grief, loss."
"Who- who are they?"
He chuckles, a relieving sound. "That's me." He points to the man in the photo.
"But you're a..."
"It's okay!" He laughed, "I know what I am."
"Then..." You look back at the photo. "That was your wife. Your baby."
"How perceptive."
"I'm- I'm sorry."
"No need for apologies. You did nothing wrong. You see, my family was taken from me. In a fire-" He clears his throat.
You want to tell him to stop, as it hurt him to tell you this story.
"A man I called brother took my daughter from me, and raised her to hate me."
"You- you can't get her back?"
"I've tried. And I won't stop trying for my Miwa. But Shredder is strong. That much is obvious."
This man, who was a master in the martial arts still couldn't get his daughter back. It main you sick. Didn't this mean (Y/N) couldn't get her brother back?
What was her plan anyway?
Search New York, find him... but then what? Return home? What home?
"I'm not going to be able to get my brother back. Am I?" (Y/N) swallows, looking into those soft brown eyes.
"I cannot guarantee anything. But what I can tell you is to never give up hope. And you should know you're not alone. My sons will help you."
"Thank-you, Master Splinter."
"Please!" He laughed, "Master is for my pupils to use only. Splinter will do fine."
No questions were asked. Nothing about housing was mentioned. Splinter made it simple. He wanted her to know she wasn't alone.
And boy was she grateful.
(Y/N) could feel something bubbling inside her. Something she hadn't felt since she started searching. A knew vigor awoke in her that she would find her brother. Hope wasn't just a silly word anymore.
"I umm." She walked awkwardly toward the group, all gathered around a box TV set. "I wanted to let you guys know- I'm open to questions. I'm, I'm grateful for what you have done for me and I'm sorry that I didn't act like I didn't appreciate it."
"About time." Casey muttered.
"Oh don't spoil the mood." Mikey whined at Casey.
"(Y/N)." Raph said, "You have nothing to worry about! Besides, it's our job to knock in some shell." He gave a wink as he laughed.
What the-
What (Y/N) started to feel wasn't like earlier. It was more fuzzy and the temperature was suddenly seeming to rise. (Y/N) no longer just felt hope. She started to feel like she needed something. But what was it?
