Chapter 6
My phone rang at 7:15. It was Mary Margaret. "Hey Mary Margaret." "Hey Natalia." She said. I just wanted to ask you if you wanted to help make decorations at the hospital with the class today. They love you, and I thought that if maybe you were there, it might get them in the spirit."
"I'd love to help, but I have work today." I said. "I already talked to Graham." Said Mary Margaret. "He said you could skip for a couple of hours." Of course he did. "Alright, I'll be at the hospital in a half hour." I said and hung up.
I drove down to the hospital and saw Mary Margaret and her class making decorations for the patients. "Hey!" She said. "You can go make cards with Paige and her friends."
I went over to the table Paige was sitting at. "Natalia!" She said. "Come sit by us." I smiled and sat down. "Hey girls. How are you guys doing?" I said. "Great!" Said Paige, but I could tell she was distracted by someone behind me.
I turned around and saw a boy, Trevin I think his name was? I could tell Paige liked him. "Go talk to him." I said. "But, what if he doesn't like me?" She said. "But what if he does?" I said. Paige had a worried look on her face. "Hey Trevin!" I said. "Natalia!" Said Paige. "Come sit over here!" Trevin got up and took the seat by Paige. "Trevin, you know Paige right?" I said. "Uh, yeah." He said. He was nervous too.
The two talked for a while, until it was 2:30 and I had to get to work. "Bye guys!" I said. "Bye Natalia!" They both said together. I smiled and went to say goodbye to Mary Margaret.
"Your quite the matchmaker." She said. "I know what it's like to have a crush." I said. I tried to remember my first crush's name, but it was so long ago, that I can't remember.
"Well, I've got to go." I said. "Hey, thanks for the help." She said. "It was fun!" I said and left.
I was almost to the sheriff's office, when I got a phone call. It was Henry. I pulled over and answered the phone. "Hey Henry." I said. "Natalia! Can you meet me at my castle?" "Henry, I've got to go to work." I said. "It's okay. Graham said you could come." He said. Geez, Graham's probably wondering why everyone's calling and asking if I can skip work. "Guess I'll be there than." I said.
I drove over to the beach to where Henry's toy castle was. Emma and Henry were already there. I got out and sat down by Henry.
"Prince Charming is in a coma." Said Henry. "See that scar?" He pointed to a picture of Prince Charming in his book, who had a scar on the left side of his chin. "He has the same one.
"So? Lots of people have scars." Said Emma. "But in the same place." Said Henry. "Don't you see? The curse is keeping them apart with a coma. Now, they're stuck without eachother. We have to tell Miss Blanchard we found her Prince Charming."
"Okay kid, telling someone their soulmate is in a coma, is probably not helpful." Said Emma. "Not having a happy ending is painful enough. Giving someone unrealistic hope is far worse."
"There's no such thing as unrealistic hope." I said. Emma gave me a look. "Sorry." I said. "But what if I'm right?" Said Henry. "We know who they are. Now we have to tell them. Natalia's right. There's no such thing as unrealistic hope."
"How do you intend to make that happen?" I asked. "By reminding them." Said Henry. "We have to get her to read their story to John Doe. Then maybe he'll remember who he is."
"Okay." Said Emma. "Okay?" Henry and I said together. We're really doing this? "Yeah, we'll do it, but we'll do it my way." Said Emma. "Let me and Natalia ask her."
Emma gave Henry a ride home while I drove over to Mary Margaret's place. I knocked on Mary Margaret's door. She opened it. "Hey Natalia." She said. "Hi. Can I talk to you? Before Emma gets here?" She nodded and let me inside.
We sat at her table. "Is everything okay?" She asked. "Yeah, it's just that, Regina is out to get Emma. And we both know what she's capable of." I said. "I'm just worried that by helping her, the mayor will take what little I have."
"Well," said Mary Margaret. "Sometimes you have to choose between doing what's best for you, and doing what's best for others." There was a knock on the door. It was Emma.
"You want me to read to a coma patient?" Asked Mary Margaret after we explained everything to her. "Henry thinks it will help him remember who he was." I said. "And who does he think he was?" Asked Mary Margaret. "Prince Charming." Said Emma.
Mary Margaret looked at us. "And if I'm Snow White, he thinks..." She trailed off. "He has a very active imagination." Said Emma. "Which is the point. I can't talk him out of his beliefs. We need to show him. Then maybe. Just maybe." "He'll see the fairy tales are just that." Said Mary Margaret. "That there's no such thing as love at first sight of first kiss he'll see reality." She took a sip of her cocoa. "Something like that." Said Emma.
"Sadly this plan is rather genius." Said Mary Margaret. "We get him to the truth without hurting him." "Are you sure it won't hurt him?" I said. "I know what it's like to be proved wrong about something important."
"You have a better idea?" Asked Emma. I opened my mouth, but no words came out. "I told him we'd all meet at Granny's tomorrow and you would give a full report." Said Emma as she gave the book to Mary Margaret.
"Well, I suppose I'll get ready for my date." Said Mary Margaret. "And I suppose I'll get home." I said. "I have to go to work tomorrow and try to explain to Graham that I've been missing work because I've been trying to take down the Evil Queen."
I said my goodbyes and drove back to my apartment. As I drove, I tried to remember the name of my first crush. I remember I was head over heels for him. What was his name?
