6 Months Before The Curse

Natalia's POV

Jared and I were about to enter Prince Devin's ball. "So, what's the plan again?" I asked. "You need to get everyone's attention by dancing with the prince, while I sneak up to the treasury and get as much gold as I can." Said Jared. "Got it." I said. "Then we get out of here and change our names and faces." I said with a smile. "We're going be fine." said Jared and playfully punched my arm. I stole a ball gown from a shop and wore it. I think if I had this corset any tighter, I would pass out.

"Ready Princess Janessa of Shirliton?" Said Jared. "Ready as I'll ever be Lord Tyler of Greenville." I said.

We walked inside the palace and a man at the door announced my 'name'. I immediately saw the prince on the other side of the room with his crown. Though, he didn't look too happy.

I tried to look graceful as I came down the stairs into the ballroom. Jared came down after me. I gave him a quick nod before making my way through the crowd.

I was almost to where the prince was, when I tripped and fell. "Do you need help?" Someone asked. I looked up
and saw Prince Devin. He held out his hand and helped me up. We locked eyes for a split second. His beautiful brown eyes connected with my blue ones. No, stop it Natalia! Don't let him get to you.

"I've never seen you in this kingdom before." Said Devin. "Um, Princess Janessa of Shirliton." I said with a curtsy. "Where's your tiara?" He asked. Crap! "Uh, I hate tiaras. They're so uncomfortable." I said, trying to act natural. "Yeah, I don't like wearing my crown either." Said Devin. "But my parents made me wear it."

The waltz started to play. "May I have this dance?" Asked Devin. I smiled. "You may." I said. Devin took my hand and we stepped out into the dancefloor.

All eyes were on us as we danced for what seemed like hours. Devin and I stared into each other's eyes. Is this what love feels like?

All of a sudden, a knife flew over my head and stuck in the wall behind us. Jared. Everyone went into a panic. "Natalia! We have to go!" Yelled Jared. I looked back at Devin. "I'm sorry." I said. And Jared and I ran away from the palace.

"You got the jewels than?" I asked once we were far away from the palace. Jared looked at the ground sadly. "Some guards caught me before I could snatch anything." He said.

I sighed. I just ruined my first love's party, for nothing.

Present Day

Natalia's POV

They say you always remember your first love. I guess that's not the case for me. I gave up trying to name the boy as I fell asleep.
