A few months had passed since I boarded ALODIE set to the North Carolina, though the ride had been luxurious it was hellish. I sat in the chair on the deck staring sadly out at the ocean waves, to think I was once so excited to be here on the way to the Carolina's.

I sighed closing my tired eyes having not been able to sleep since my fathers murder and the pain in my leg which has been slowly fading. I was glad to being healing, God blessed me in that aspect, though the haunting dreams of my father's murder awake every night.

The guilt, and sadness that plagued and consumed my heart, the truth was... I had no one. No one left in the world as family, I sniffed, it wouldn't be long now before they made it to the colony. 'Only a few months till we get there, and my leg would be fully healed.' I thought standing up.

I hobbled past the soldiers who were stationed to protect us on the way to the colony. Giving a polite gesture as I passed I headed for my cabin.

I was not looking forward to the rest of the trip, being with all the stranger who were stuck up in my opinion was torturous as it is. What would it be like in the Colony? I sighed, I always was stressing myself out to much.

I laid back on my bed holding my father's medical journal, I've been studying to learn more of what my father knew so I could be sufficient enough over there.

As the days turned into weeks, and the weeks into months I practiced hard gaining more knowledge and recovering fully. It wasn't until one morning the orders for preparing to land came. I looked out the window in my cabin seeing the land stretch out for miles in the distance.

My heart hammered in my chest with my nervousness increasing by the second. I packed up my luggage in the room and got ready to get off the ship. I stared out the window watching the approaching land get larger and lager, 'Wait... where was the land my father had purchased been?' I paled at the thought.

I hadn't even thought about what I was going to do once we landed. I hopped up quickly heading to my father briefcase and appointment bag, digging through them for any indication of where my new home would be located.

I kept digging beginning to lose hope, feeling desperate I flipped his bag and shook it out over the bed. Everything landed softly on the cushioned material, I pick it up one by one placing it back in his bag when I came across his notepad that he took to note things and write prescriptions in.

Quickly flipping the book open I skimmed through the pages till a address caught my attention. "Clarendon County... Townsend Family Healer." I read aloud. "I guess this is my new home..." I mumbled.

I placed everything back in the bag fully and held the book in my hand, walking out from my cabin I headed for the deck. "We're docking in Cape Fear?" A hushed whisper floated from around the corner of the corridor.

I paused, something in the voice stirred a odd feeling in me, then another voice answered, "yes we are though I'm glad I'm not going to be getting off here, there's been so many Savages around lately cause problems I just don't know how I would put up with them" as response the first voice that belong to a female gasped in fear.

I rolled my eyes, "Savage? What Savages...?" I mumbled passing the hallway.

Once on the deck I looked out over the harbor at the small town, I could see people bustling around on the dock and to the few business.

Soon, soon I would touch new land living my life there for good. I swallowed nervously as electricity jolted through me nerves. This was it, I was here.

We slowly pulled down the river side to the small habor, coming to halt. The crew set to work lowering the ramp down, I waited for them to finish and when they did walked to my room and bagged my bag.

There was a knock on my door, "yes?" My voice called out.

"Ma'am I'm here to grab your things and unload them." A male voice replied.

"Okay" I opened the door and two men walked in gathering mine and my dad's stuff. I followed them out and off the boat pausing before stepping on the land.

They loaded my stuff in a coach, turning back to me, "We will send the crates once unloaded, where do you want them sent?"

"Oh." I said I opened the notepad and scribbled down the address to my new home and tore it out giving it to them.

They nodded to me and left back to the ship, "Ma'am are you coming?" The Coachman called peeking over the side of the coach.

I nodded and got on, it was so different here, I looked out the window in the door seeing people bustling around doing their work. Even women!

'Wow... to think that over here such laws are trivial...' I thought looking at the many shops. I was already falling in love with colony.
