Chapter Two: Kai's Birthday!

~Dream Start~

Kairen grogily wakes up to his father's persistent shaking. "What isss it daddy?" The little boy asks as he sits up in his bed with lidded eyes and his long neck curruld since he slept in snake form. His hed leaned to the side a bit and his tung hung out of his mouth.

"IT'SSS YOUR FOURTH BIRTHDAY!" Pythor says excitedly and Kairen immediately wakes up. "It isss?!" He asks as his eyes light up. Pythor chuckles. "Yup! It'sss midnight and that meansss it'sss the next day and I wasss the firssst to sssay...... HAPPY BIRTHDAY!" Pythor says happily and Kairen giggles. "I wove you daddy!" He says then hugs the serpentine. Pythor chuckles. "And I love you, my little Kai-Pie."

Kairen scrunches up his nose at his father's pet name for him. He hated it! Pythor then showed Kairen a bag and dumped it out. In the bag were all sorts of candy & other sweets. "Sssshhh! Don't tell mommy, OK?" He says and Kairen nods vigorously.

By time morning, Kairen & Pythor had eaten all the sweets and were in the kitchen. Pythor made breakfast as he and Kairen sang along to a song. This was their rutien. Wake up, Pythor cooks, and they sing together. Kairen loved it!

Soon enough, Flaira cane out in human form and kissed Pythor on the cheek. She then went to her son, who was in his human form by now, and rufled his hair. "MOMMY! DON'T TOUCH DEE HWAIR!" He yelled and she chuckled.

Latter that day, they played games and had cake, then it was time for presents.

Kairen laughed as he oppened the one from his mother first. "Cwool! A wego ssset!" He said in his snake form. "I knew you'd wove it!" His mother said in her snake form, being half anacondrai. "MOMMY! NO TEASSSWING!" He screached at her for makeing fun of his funny talking. He puffed out his cheeks with his lips drawn together. A face that was cute in his human form, but hilarious in snake form since it looked so awkward! Flaira and Pythor bust out laughing at their sons face and he just hets angrier.

Pythor sobers up first. "Sssorry my boy, but the fassse you made at your mother wasss to golden!" He says with a laugh then kisses his sons head.

Kairen opens Pythor's present next and finds a little pure red ninja gi. Pythor knew how much his son loved ninja storys and pretending to be one himself. Kairen squeels at the top of his lungs and hugs his father tightly.

~Dream End~

Kai wakes up with tears. That once beautiful memory ruined because he knew he could never have that again.

He looks to the others. It was still late and he couldn't go back to sleep. He checked the time. 12:00AM. "Happy Birthday me..." He said sadly and hoped out of bed. He walked out the room and went to train since he couldn't sleep anymore.

Latter in the day Zane woke up to make breakfast and noticed Kai training. "Your up early?" Zane questioned. Kai looked to him and grunted once before going back to beating up the punching bag again. Zane shakes his head and goes to cook, sencing Kai's bad mood.

Jay gets up next and sees Kai. "Sup man!" Jay says and slaps Kai's back. Kai glares at him and he backs off. It's been a week since the spider's showed then disappeared.

Jay walks to the kichen to see if breakfast is ready when Nya comes out. She walks to her brother. "Is there a reason why you gave Jay a death glare?" She asks him annoyed. She knew he got like this on his birthday, but never quit knew why. Kai just grunts and ignores her. She walks away, not wanting to deal with him.

Cole and Lloyd race out together and run to Kai, shoving each other out of the way the who tine.
Cole: "Early morning training?"
*SHOVE*
Lloyd: "Can I join you?"
*SHOVE*
Cole: "You don't want that pipsqueek to help, do you?"
*SHOVE*
Lloyd: "HAY! I'm no pipsqueek!"
*SHOVE*
Cole: "Yeah you are, you snot colored shripm!"
*SHOVE*
Lloyd: "Oh, it's on you stupid dancer! What kind of ninja dances, huh?!"

The two then break into a fight and Kai backs up, wide eyed. What's gotten into these two?! He asks himself. He woundered when these two started fighting like this!

When Misako & Wu see the scene in front of them, Misako grabs her son with a disappointed look & Wu grabs Cole looking angry. They each repremand the two ninja as Kai walks to the kitchen to eat, now to bussy woundering about what happened between Cole & Lloyd to be bumed out today.

Thr whole day goes by oddly. Lloyd & Cole were giving each other murderous glares, Kai was a moody reck, Nya kept giving Kai sympathetic looks (weather she knows why he does this annualy or not), Zane keeps an eye on Kai the whole time in his curiosity of the red ninjas mood, Wu decides ti put off training for the odd day, and Misako is the only one acting normally unless you count her tiptoeing around everyone like one wrong move would an explosion of epic proportion.

Misako takes her chance to question Nya about Kai's behavior infront of the others while Kai is huddled up in the boy's room.

"Well... I honestly don't know. Ever since I can remember he's been like this on his birthday every year...." Nya answers. "Wait! Today is Kai's birthday?!"
Jay asks, suprised. Nya nods. "He turns 17 today." She answers. "Dude! I'm only 15!" Jay says. "I'm 18." Is Cole's reply. Lloyd looks down. "Zane did a scan of me when that mical age stuff happened way back when, He said I'm 15 now..." Lloyd answers. Jay chuckles. "Looks like were the same age then!" He says to Lloyd. "I guess..." Everyone looks to Zane. "I am technicaly 57 years of age." They sall do spit takes with their snacks. Well... Except Wu & Misako. "Julian made me at 29 years of age and it's been 57 years since then..."

"Either way.... We need to do something for Kai's birthday!" Jay says. Nya looks sceptical. "Growing up, Kai never wanted to celibrate his birthday with us. He just locked himself up in his room, so I don't think that will go over well..." Nya replys in a sad tone.

"We'll throw him a suprise party!" Jay says excitedly and jumps around. The others nod except Nya who takes a little convincing. "OK! I'll do it! But I warn you now! He won't be happy!" She warns them.

By time everything was set up, Kai had descided to go to the deck for training. When he got there, everyone jumped out. "HAPPY BIRTHDAY KAI!" They all screamed in unison. Even Wu & Misako were into it. Kai just frowned. "This was a mistake." He says annoyed and turns around to walk away.

Nya stops him by grabing his shoulder. "Kai! Come on! Just one birthday with people who love you can't be that bad! Please!" She pleads and he shrugs her off. "LEAVE ME ALONE." He says with venom and in a deep voice. She backs off in fear. He walks slowly and menacingly. The images if his first birthday with Nya's parents flooding his mind. Nya was two & he was turning five. "He tried to be happy for the first time since his mother abandoned him at his uncles place.

~Memory Start~

As he had told them it was his birthday, his uncle & his wife just looked at him sadly. He frowned. "What is it?" He asked. "Nothing." Was their unison answer. He walked out and into the Nursery where baby Nya lay in her crib. He watched her sleep with a smile. "Kai!" His uncle called. "Coming!" He called back and ran out. When he got to his uncle he smiled at him. "Yes uncle?" He asked, then realized his mistake. It was his first time adressing the man since coming to live with him. "What did you call me?!" The older male asked angrily. "Um..uh..." Kai said, backing up in fear. His uncle slaped him. Hard. Hard enough to send the now five year old to the ground. "Better not plan to call me that in public boy!" He screams at Kai and kicks him.

"I-I'm sorry!" Kai lets out. "You better be!" He yells and kicks the boy again. "What is your name?!" He screams the question to the little boy as his wife just watches from the sidelines. "K-Kairen Pyro Chumsworth!" Kai says in tears as his mother's elder half brother beats him. "NOT YOUR OLD ONE! YOUR NEW ONE!"

"K-K-Kai F-Frazer F-F-F-Flamey!" He crys out. The beating stops. "Now learn it you little freek!" His uncle says with a final kick then sends him to his room.

~Memory End~

Thad been where Kai went every birthday since, his room. If he didn't stay in there on his birthday his uncle beat him. Nya never knew. Kai was forced to not tell her the truth. She was to grow up thinking they were a happy family, Kai was he biological brother, and that Kai was a full fledged human. She was to grow up believing lies.

Kai still haddent told anyone. He was conditioned not to.

Jay held Nya as she cried into his chest. Kai had never looked at her like that before. They listened as Kai stormed off to the room & slamed the door. "Did anything, perhaps happen to make him like this?" Zane asks the question on everyones mind. "If something did happen then I either wasn't borm yet or was two young to remember." Nya answers with a sniffle. Jay pats her back.
