Amelia had been ignoring me since we both opened up today. I kept trying to talk to her but she kept pushing me away.
"Amelia-"
"No Ryan, please, just-"
"No Amelia. Stop ignoring me!" I followed her into our shared bedroom. She had her back to me and I walked up to her until we were practically touching. "Amelia look, I-"
Before I could finish my sentence she turned around and kissed me. I kissed her back.
All of a sudden we were in the bed, our clothes were strewn all over the floor, we were only in our bottoms and underwear. We were kissing, touching, hugging. Doing everything we could to pull each other closer. She tugged at my belt and I pulled away from her for a split second.
"Are we really doing this?" I asked and she nodded.
"Yes. I love you. I'm ready, we're ready." She said and pushed me to lay down. She laid on top of me and rested her head on mine. Our lips were barely brushing.
"I love you too." I whispered against her lips and she kissed me.
I sat up. Sweat was dripping down my body and my breaths were heavy.
"It was just a dream. It was just a dream." I whispered to myself and sighed. I laid back down and stared at the ceiling for a while.
Why did this keep happening?
I looked at the clock besides the double bed Amelia and I shared and sighed when I saw the time. 8 o'clock on the dot. Every time it wasn't my morning with Izzie I still woke up early. But why would I want to sleep for longer when I kept having dreams like that? Did I really want to wake up and have to see Amelia with images of that flashing around my head? I shouldn't have been thinking of Amelia in that way. I mean, sure, she was really, really hot. But she was my best friend. My cute, annoying, fierce, violent, smoking hot best friend.
I sighed and got out of bed. I walked the small walk to the bathroom and did my bushiness. I heard commotion downstairs and headed there. I was annoyed that the dreams weren't even just a one time thing. They'd been happening since Amelia had to sleep in the same bed as me. I walked into the kitchen to see Aaron washing up. I slid into one of the chairs at the table in the kitchen and groaned with my head in my hands.
"Sup?" Aaron greeted cheerfully and I just grunted in response. "Who pushed you out of bed this morning?" He asked with a smirk and I groaned again.
"Please don't." I said. So much as mentioning Amelia made me remember the dreams. I felt my face heat up at the thought of them.
"Whoa. You've gone red. What happened? Are you E M B A R R A S E D E D?" He spelt out.
"That's not how you spell embarrassed. And no, i'm not you twa-"
"Whatever! But seriously, what's got you in this mood? Talk to Agony Aunt Aaron."
"That was great alliteration."
"Stop changing the subject!" Aaron shouted and I flinched. "Tell me what's up."
"Right. Well. You see, i've been having these dreams-"
"Dude, everyone gets dreams. I had one about Selena Gomez the other night. Dude she was-"
"Who's changing the subject now? This is serious Aaron!" I growled and him and he held his hands up in surrender.
"Right, i'm sorry, carry on."
"Okay, so i've been having dreams. But not just normal dreams, if you know what i'm saying..." I trailed off and he nodded.
"Right, about who?" He asked and his eyebrows furrowed which showed he was interested. I put my head on the table.
"Amelia."I whispered.
"Who?"
"Amelia."I said louder. He stared at me for a few seconds.
"You're being serious?"
"Yes."
"Oh dude, this is some good gossip."
"What are you a thirteen year old girl?" I scoffed and he shrugged.
"I don't know Ryan, am I?" He asked sarcastically and pointed to his private area.
"Shut up."
"So what? You've been having dreams about doing sexual things to your best friend. What's the big deal?" He asked and I winced when he put it so bluntly.
"Because its not just us doing that. We say the. The. The L word." I said and whispered the last bit. "Aaron, I think I might be turning into a chick." I stressed and he nodded.
"That would explain the stress-y turns every month and the constant need for ice cream." He said and I glared at him.
"I do not eat ice cream every month!" I exclaimed and he gave me a blank look. "Just every day." I muttered and he smirked.
"Aw, my little Ryan is growing up!" He said and ruffled my hair with his wet hands. I slapped him away and glared at him.
"Don't ever call me yours again."
"Oh yeah sorry, you're Amelia's." He teased and I continued to glare at him. "I'm being serious. There's obviously something going on between you otherwise you would have finished being friend's a long time ago. And I mean, the googly eyes, the flirting, the kissing and now the dreams. It could only mean one thing."
"Aaron! Me, like someone, are you out of your mind?" I asked him and he shook his head.
"No, but you are in denial." He said and stared at me knowingly.
"Shit. You might be right." I groaned and he smiled at me.
"There you go." He mumbled and went back to washing up. His hands dripped water as he went.
"Well fuc-"
"Language!" He called.
"Fairy."
"Better."

The next day the guys and I took Izzie to MC-Donald's in the town. I received some weird looks when I pushed the buggy but ignored them. Aaron did start to push the buggy but managed to trip over the wheels and tip the buggy up. If it wasn't for Derek's quick reactions, Izzie would have face-planted the floor and so, I took over pushing the buggy. To be fair, I treated Izzie as if she was my own, but so did the rest of the guys. Who wouldn't? She was so cute with her big blue eyes, curly brown hair and chubby cheeks. I just wanted to squish her.
I shivered at the thoughts that ran around my head. I was getting was too attached. We sat on the second floor at a table. Izzie sat at the end in her pushchair and ate her Fruit Packet. Amelia was no where to be seen. She tried to avoid me as much as possible and I had no idea why. If she was ever in the same room as me she avoided all eye contact. Whenever I tried to talk to her she found an excuse to leave. I thought that after we opened up to each other and she broke down we'd be back to normal. Obviously she thought different.
"Yo. That's Amelia." Jimmy said and nodded to a table in the corner. She stood up and some tall, broad guy stood up with her. He had light brown hair that was long. He had nothing on me that was for sure. They were flirting with each other. I could tell by the way Amelia's hand twirled her hair around her finger. When she flirted she either did that or rested her hand on her hip.
She rested her hand on her hip when we flirted.
"Who's that guys chatting her up?" Derek growled out and glared at the guy. I was already glaring at him.
"First date at MC Donald's. Classy." I snorted and shook my head.
"Is someone jealous?" Aaron asked with a smirk and I transferred my glare to him.
"Why the hell would I be jealous of that?" I asked rhetorically and nodded in the guys direction.
"You're right. He has nothing on you dude." Jimmy said and I nodded at him.
"Thanks man, good to know you have my back." I said and couldn't help the smile that came on my face. Jimmy nodded back at me.
"Does anyone know who he is? I haven't seen him around here before." Aaron asked.
"Yeah, you won't be seeing much of him anymore. I'll make sure of it." Derek grumbled.
"His name's Chad Bryer. Transfer from New York, thinks he's a ladies man. He's been seen chatting up and harassing all of the girls from year 10 to our year at school. Proper Dic- I mean D-Head if you ask me." Jimmy clarified. He stopped himself from swearing when he noticed Izzie was watching him intently. He waved at her and pulled a really ugly face and she laughed.
"How the hell do you know all that?" Tommy asked him.
"Holly was getting chat up by him the other day and looked like she was about to cry so I went and intervened. I ran a little background check also, courtesy of Jennifer and the rest of the gossip gang at school." Jimmy muttered. He ran his hands through his hair which was a sign he was nervous. He adored Holly. He thought she was cute but was too much of a wimp to do anything about the crush he had on her. It was obvious she liked him too by the way her cheeks reddened every time he so much as looked at her. She was unusual to Jimmy which is, what I think, made her attractive to him. She wasn't like any of the other girls he usually hooked up with. She had short brown hair, geeky-glasses and green eyes. She didn't seem anything other than average to the eye but was actually really interesting and nice when you got to know her. She always had her head in a book when she finished her work early in class and had a close knit group of friends. She was younger than us, only year 11 and I think that put Jimmy off of talking to her also.
"Dude, you're whipped." Tommy shook his head at Jimmy who looked deep in thought.
"Just like whipped creme." Derek said also.
"As whipped as a horse at the grand national." I added.
"As bad as the mashed potato we have some nights." Aaron finished.
"Shut up you bunch of pri-"
"Why the hell is that D-Head leaving with Amelia?" Derek growled out suddenly and we both stood up.
"Ryan-" Aaron tried to warn.
"Watch Izzie." I growled and caught up to Amelia and call me Chad the cock.
I walked upside them both and slyly put my arm around Amelia's shoulder. She jumped and when she saw me she glared.
"Ryan. What are you doing here?" She asked through gritted teeth and a fake smile.
"Oh, so you aren't ignoring me anymore babe?" I asked her innocently.
"I never was."
(a/n : play the song)
"Alright then. So dropping off Izzie without a word as she looks longingly back at you as you leave and sleeping on the sofa whenever i'm in bed, isn't classed as ignoring me, no?" I asked sarcastically. I made sure that my voice rose in volume so that call me Chad the cock knew I was there.
"You have a kid? With...That?" Call me Chad the cock spluttered as he looked me up and down. I glared at him as he did so.
"Yes, she has. Got a problem, mate?" I asked him. I came to a halt as he did and we faced each other. He was about my height but was much broader, not that that made any difference.
"Yes I have actually. She's my girl, not yours. So leave us alone, mate." He said and I looked at him blankly and tutted three times.
"Whatever helps you sleep at night Chad the cock." I said and turned around. I was about to walk away to prevent me from doing something I probably wouldn't regret when the loser spoke again.
"Aw, the bad-boy can't even handle a fight. All bark and no bite I see." He muttered behind me and before I even blinked I turned around and planted one right on his nose. He fell to the floor screaming in pain but I couldn't have cared any less. All I could see was red in that moment and I knew that I would forever hold a grudge against Chad the cock. Who did he think he was to come into my town, take my girlfriend and then insult me?
Wait, Amelia's not my girlfriend.
Screw you brain.
I grabbed Amelia's hand and dragged her out of MC Donald's and into the alley way next to it. I slammed her up against the wall and held her hands above her head.
"Never, ever, flirt with anyone other than me again." I growled at her and she simply stared at me with a smirk on her lips.
"And why's that exactly? You don't own me. I'm not your puppet that you can just play with whenever you feel like it." She said smugly and I wanted nothing more than to kiss her. Maybe it was the frustration that she brought me, or maybe it was the anger that I felt in that moment that made me want to do it. I could never be sure, but I managed to hold the urge back and question her instead.
"Because if you keep it up i'm going to end up in jail, is that a good enough reason?" I asked gruffly. She gulped but didn't say anything. I stared at her and she stared at me but neither of us said anything. I should have told her in that moment what she meant to me but I didn't. I sighed and let go of her arms. I, instead, pulled her into a hug and held her tight as she hugged me back.
"Why did you ignore me?" I whispered. I could smell her perfume and I could feel her hair tickle my neck and I wanted nothing more in that moment than her. I wanted to be able to have her there everyday. I wanted to be able to hug her, smell her perfume, feel her hair tickle my neck and feel the way she held my waist tightly when we hugged everyday, whenever I wanted it. But I knew that it was selfish of me because she deserved someone way better, with more to offer. But in that moment, I decided to cherish the moment and be selfish, for it could have been the last time I ever hugged her.
"I thought you would think differently of me." She whispered back. She sounded vulnerable and I could feel the vibrations through my chest when she spoke. It was such a weird, yet comforting feeling that I wanted forever.
"Amelia, I could never think differently of you." I said and ran my hand over her hair. "No matter what you do, you'll always be my best friend." And as much as it pained me, I said it. Because it was true, no matter what she did, she would always be my best friend. I was just greedy and wanted more than that.
"You and Derek are the only ones that know. But Ryan, there's more. There's so much more but I can't bare to tell you. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry." She said quietly and it sounded like she was close to crying. I hated it when she cried because I didn't know how to deal with it or how to make her feel better.
"Why are you sorry?"I asked.
"Because i've dumped so much on you when you probably didn't want to know any of it."
"Amelia, if I didn't want to know any of it then I would have stopped you talking." I said and I heard her laugh lightly.
"And how would you have done that?" She pulled away from the hug and asked. I smirked at her and pressed her up against the brick wall again. I trailed my hands down her arms until they reached her hands and when they did I clasped our hands together. She watched every move I made with parted lips and curious eyes which made her look even hotter than usual. I slowly moved her hands above her head again and pushed myself against her fully.
"Like this." I whispered and quickly put my lips against hers. She froze for a minute and I went to pull away but she kissed back before I could. I pulled away after a few seconds and she looked at me again with a small smile on her lips.
"That's a good way of shutting someone up."
"I know."
"I swear every time we argue we end up kissing." She mumbled and I stared at her.
"Yeah."
"Why is that?" She asked and I shrugged.
"I have no idea."
But that was the thing. I did know. And the admitting the reasoning for that to myself was hard enough, let alone if I had to admit it to Amelia herself. Because when you've never had the privilege of knowing or witnessing something caring, something that made you feel good and want more, even with the simplest thing like a smile, you're never really sure on whether what you feel is real or not. But I knew that what I felt was real, and it petrified me, because I had no way of knowing what would come next.
