Chapter 2
Friday 7th - Saturday 8th October 2005, Spring
The sun started to set on the world, the sky turned orange and pink as the sun slowly faded from sight. It was as if the sun had dissolved and it's particles floated across the atmosphere.
Millie's eyes glistened with drying tears, it was time for her to go home, but how, how could she go home after what happened?
How was she suppose to say goodbye to her life here and say hello to a new one?
By now the sun had disappeared fully and the moon was starting to lighten up the earth.
Millie pushed her thoughts away and headed home, she was tired from all her tears and worries.
She needed sleep.
By the time she reached her front door, the moon was halfway to the top of the sky and Millie's parents were waiting by the door for her.
She entered. "sweetie, are you alright? I know it's har-" Millie pushed past and up the stairs to her bedroom, she need time alone, even if she just had a lot, she still need more, to get her head around the fact that she'll have to say goodbye and the fact she might never see her friends again. But most of all, at the moment, she needed sleep.
~the next morning~
Millie awoke to the sound of chirping birds and buzzing bees, the smell of blossoms and berries, the feel of the warm sun and cool wind.
Everything seemed normal, but it wasn't, not for Millie at least.
Today was the day she had to tell her friends that she was leaving, she had to enjoy her days ride, then quickly get home and start packing.
It was a Saturday, but that didn't change anything because it was the holidays though school starts back next week.
Millie stood from her warm bed, she was still wearing her clothes from the day before, but she didn't mind, her family didn't wear pyjamas anyway.
She slowly walked down the stairs and into the kitchen.
No one seemed to be around.
She took some pieces of fruit-bread, plus a bottle of juice, then left the house to hang out with her friends for one of the last times.
They road around as usual, but it was as if a sadness had washed over them all.
Millie didn't want to go, but she had to, which resulted in her saying goodbye to the ones she loves.
Riding through the paddocks and over the stream seemed pointless to them now.
When the eventually finished, Millie said goodbye and ran inside.
She wiped away her tears as she walked up the stairs.
...
Millie had been busy packing when she heard her dad call her down to the kitchen.
So she reluctantly got up and marched down the stairs.
"There you are, Sweetie!" He grinned.
She stare back, blankly.
"I got you a gift," he said passing her a box "I though it would be useful for you now."
She opens the box and inside is a fully functioning 'Samsung', Millie was sure she would faint, but forced herself not to so that she didn't drop her phone.
"Happy birthday sweetie!" Her Mum says, entering the kitchen and pulling her into a hug.
"Wha-what, it's my birthday?!" Millie asks, dumbfound.
Her Mother giggled "sure is honey! You're finally 8!"
Millie had forgotten all about her own birthday. Then she remembered the phone.
"I-I'm going to go test out my phone." She quickly turned, but before she got anywhere, her mum said.
"Don't you want the rest of your presents?!" Millie quickly turned around, a smile, an actual smile was on her face.
She followed her parents into the lounge room.
"Here are all your presents, sweetie! Your cake will be ready soon too." Millie's mum smiled.
As for Millie, she was already opening presents.
The 1st one she opened was a Phone case, it was of a sunset on a mountain, with a stream at its base.
Then she opened a box that had a T-shirt of a family of foxes playing in the woods.
Then Millie's favourite movie.
Then the Maze Runner book series.
Then, the most special of all the presents, a Best Friend necklace, group.
It was a pizza with lots of slices!

Millie couldn't believe it, she was the only 8 year old, that she had ever heard of, who owned such expensive things all at once!
"Why did you get me such expensive things?" Millie questioned.
"Because we're sorry for making you have to say goodbye to this life." Her dad answered.
"Now, tomorrow you can tell your friends your number so that they can put it into their parents phones and keep in touch.
But as for now, enjoy your birthday!" Her mother said before walking off to pack.
Millie took all her gifts up to her room.
'Hmm, if I finish packing, then I'll be able to spend the rest of the day playing with my gifts!' Millie thought to herself.
So she got all her clothes and filled one bag.
Then all her toys, filled another.
She put all her jewellery, mantle pieces and lip balm in yet another bag.
Her parents had put all the spare blankets and things into the car already.
So Millie, after packing, laid down on her bed, but when her head plonked on her pillow, it wasn't as soft as usual. There was something under it!
She picked up her pillow and found another present!
She wondered what it could possibly be.
She quickly unwrapped it to find the most adorable toy ever! TOOTHLESS!

Millie snuggled it, and then somehow fell asleep.
