Chapter 41
Third Person's POV
Morning light filtered through the half-open balcony curtains, soft and golden, painting lazy stripes across the rumpled sheets of the Hôtel du Palais suite.
The distant murmur of the Atlantic and the faint cry of gulls drifted in on the breeze, but Lena registered none of it at first.
She woke to warmth. Wet, slow, devastating warmth.
A low, involuntary moan escaped her throat before her mind fully surfaced.
Between her parted thighs, pleasure built in lazy, insistent waves—soft lips, a clever tongue circling her clit with practiced reverence, then dipping lower to taste her fully. The sensation was so exquisite it felt like a dream bleeding into reality.
Lena's eyes fluttered open, heavy with sleep and confusion. She lifted her head from the pillow and looked down.
Miu was there, nestled comfortably between Lena's legs, dark hair spilling over golden skin and the white sheets.
Her eyes were closed in concentration, lashes casting shadows on her cheeks, mouth glistening as she worshipped Lena with slow, hungry strokes of her tongue.
"Fuck— Miu?" Lena's voice cracked, still hoarse from the night before. Shock jolted through her, sharpening into heat as Miu chose that exact moment to suck gently on her swollen clit.
Lena's hips twitched hard. "Baby... after everything last night... I thought you'd be tired. Sore, even."
Miu pulled back just enough to look up at her, lips shiny and swollen, eyes dark with mischief and desire.
A slow, wicked smile curved her mouth.
"Oh, I am super sore," she admitted, voice low and a little raspy. Her fingers traced lazy circles on the sensitive skin of Lena's inner thigh. "My whole body is deliciously wrecked because of you. But my mouth..."
She leaned in and dragged the flat of her tongue up Lena's soaked folds in one long, filthy stroke, ending with a swirl around her clit that made Lena's breath hitch. "My mouth works just fine."
Lena's head dropped back against the pillow with a groan, one hand flying down to tangle in Miu's hair. "You're going to kill me."
"Only with pleasure, baby," Miu murmured against her, the vibration sending sparks up Lena's spine. "You spent all night worshipping me. Now it's my turn. Lie back and take it, Director."
She didn't wait for permission. Miu dove back in with renewed hunger, no longer teasing. Her tongue moved with devastating precision—lapping, flicking, sucking while two fingers slid smoothly into Lena's tight heat. She curled them immediately, stroking that perfect spot inside with every thrust.
Lena's back arched off the bed. "Shit— Miu—"
The sounds were obscene and beautiful: the wet slide of Miu's fingers, the soft, hungry noises she made as she devoured her, Lena's own broken gasps and whimpers filling the sunlit room.
Miu's free hand slid up Lena's body, palming one breast and rolling the nipple between her fingers, pinching just hard enough to dance the line between pleasure and pain.
Every lick, every thrust of her fingers felt like devotion and possession at once.
Miu was sore, Lena could feel the faint tremble in her shoulders and the careful way she shifted her own hips but she poured every ounce of energy into this, determined to unravel Lena completely.
"You taste so good," Miu whispered reverently between long, dragging licks. "I couldn't stop thinking about this when I woke up. Needed you on my tongue again." She sealed her lips around Lena's clit and sucked harder, fingers pumping faster, curling relentlessly.
Lena's thighs started to shake. Her grip tightened in Miu's hair, torn between pulling her closer and pushing her away from the overwhelming intensity.
"Miu— baby, I'm— fuck, I'm close already—"
"Good," Miu growled against her, the word vibrating straight through Lena's core. "Come for me. Let me feel you fall apart."
She added a third finger, stretching Lena beautifully, and doubled down with her tongue—fast, merciless flicks right over her throbbing clit.
Lena's entire body tensed, hips grinding desperately against Miu's mouth as the orgasm crashed over her in heavy, shuddering waves. She cried out Miu's name, raw and broken, her walls clenching rhythmically around Miu's fingers.
Miu didn't stop. She worked her through every pulse, gentling her tongue only when Lena's tremors began to fade, then pressing soft, open-mouthed kisses along her slick folds and inner thighs like she couldn't bear to pull away.
When Lena finally went boneless, chest heaving, Miu crawled up her body with a satisfied little hum.
She settled on top of her, pressing lazy kisses to Lena's collarbone, throat, and jaw.
"Morning, beautiful" Miu whispered, smiling against her skin.
Lena let out a breathless laugh and wrapped her arms around her, pulling her closer despite the soreness they both felt. "Best wake-up call I've ever had. You're dangerous."
"Only for you." Miu nipped at her lower lip, then soothed it with her tongue. Her hand was already sliding down Lena's body again, possessive and playful.
Miu rested her cheek against Lena's chest, both of them breathing hard in the quiet morning light. Their bodies were slick with sweat, limbs tangled, hearts still racing against each other.
Lena's fingers traced slow, soothing patterns up and down Miu's spine while Miu pressed lazy kisses to the skin beneath her lips.
For a long while, neither of them spoke. The only sounds were their gradually steadying breaths, the distant crash of waves, and the occasional cry of seabirds outside the open balcony doors.
Eventually, Miu let out a soft, pained laugh and shifted her hips with a wince.
"But I really am sore," she mumbled against Lena's collarbone. "You were a monster last night, Lena. I literally can't feel my legs. I don't think I can even walk right now."
Lena chuckled, the sound low and warm, wrapping her arms more securely around Miu. She kissed the top of her head, then tilted Miu's chin up so she could see her face.
Miu's cheeks were flushed, her lips still swollen, and her eyes held that perfect mix of satisfaction and playful accusation.
"Is that so?" Lena asked, unable to hide the hint of smug pride in her voice. She brushed a strand of hair from Miu's forehead. "My poor baby."
"Don't you dare look proud," Miu warned, though the effect was ruined by the way she was smiling.
She poked Lena's ribs weakly. "I'm serious. Everything hurts in the best possible way, but if I try to stand up right now I'm going to collapse. Can we just... stay inside the whole day? No market, no crepes, no walking anywhere. Just this bed. Maybe the balcony if I can crawl that far."
Lena's expression softened completely. The teasing faded, replaced by deep affection as she rolled them gently onto their sides, keeping Miu tucked close against her.
"Of course we can. Anything you want, princess," she murmured, pressing a tender kiss to Miu's temple. "The itinerary was just a suggestion. The only thing I actually planned was making you happy. If that means spending the entire day in bed with you, wrapped up in these sheets and ordering room service whenever we get hungry... then that's exactly what we're doing."
Miu sighed in relief, melting further into Lena's embrace. Her leg draped lazily over Lena's thigh, even though the movement made her hiss softly.
"You're spoiling me," she whispered.
"You deserve to be spoiled." Lena's hand stroked down Miu's back, careful and gentle now, mindful of every place she'd claimed the night before. "And I like taking care of you when you're like this—soft, sore, and all mine."
Miu hummed contentedly, nuzzling closer. "Good. Because I'm not moving for at least twelve hours. Maybe twenty-four."
Lena laughed quietly and pulled the duvet higher over them, cocooning their bodies in warmth. Outside, Biarritz continued its sunlit rhythm, but inside the suite, time slowed to the steady beat of two hearts and the quiet comfort of tangled limbs.
They had the whole day. And for once, there was nowhere else either of them wanted to be.
Lena pressed one more lingering kiss to Miu's forehead before carefully untangling their limbs. "Stay right there. I'll order us something."
She slipped out of bed, pulling on a soft hotel robe, and grabbed the phone. While she spoke quietly to room service; fresh fruit, croissants, coffee, eggs, and anything else that sounded gentle and nourishing, Miu watched her from the nest of pillows and sheets.
The moment Lena stepped away from the bed, even just to hang up the phone and open the balcony doors a little wider to let in the sea air, Miu let out a small, pitiful whine.
"Come baaack," she complained, reaching half-heartedly toward the empty space Lena had left behind. "It's cold without you."
Lena turned, a bright, helpless giggle bubbling out of her. The sound surprised even her. "Two seconds, baby. I'm right here."
True to her word, she returned to the bed immediately after hanging the "Do Not Disturb" sign and drawing the curtains just enough to keep the room soft and golden.
When the knock came at the door a little while later, she answered it herself, wheeling the elegant cart inside and parking it right beside the bed.
Miu tried to push herself up on one elbow, but Lena gently pressed her back down.
"Nope. You said you couldn't feel your legs. You're not moving a muscle today except to chew." Lena's tone was firm, but her eyes were warm with adoration. "Doctor's orders."
"You're not a doctor," Miu laughed, though she obediently settled back against the pillows.
"Today I am." Lena arranged the pillows behind Miu so she was perfectly propped up, then sat on the edge of the bed beside her.
She poured coffee for both of them, adding the exact amount of cream and sugar Miu liked, and brought a forkful of fluffy scrambled eggs to Miu's lips.
Miu stared at the offered bite, then at Lena, amusement dancing in her eyes. "I can feed myself, you know."
"I know you can," Lena said calmly, holding the fork steady. "But you're not going to. Open."
Miu rolled her eyes but opened her mouth, accepting the bite with a soft hum of appreciation. Lena followed it with a piece of strawberry, then a corner of warm croissant, moving with patient care.
When Miu reached for her coffee cup, Lena intercepted it, holding it to her lips so she could sip without shifting too much.
"You're ridiculous," Miu said between bites, laughing softly. "This is excessive, even for you."
Lena just smiled, wiping a tiny crumb from the corner of Miu's mouth with her thumb. "You told me you were sore. I'm taking it seriously. Let me take care of you."
Miu's laughter eventually quieted into something softer. She watched Lena with a tender, almost disbelieving expression as another forkful of fruit was brought to her lips.
After she swallowed, she leaned her head against the pillows and said quietly, "Who knew the scary, cold, ice queen Director is such a whip for someone like me?"
Lena's hand paused for a moment. Then she set the fork down and leaned in, brushing her nose against Miu's before kissing her gently.
"Oh, you have no idea," she murmured, voice low and warm. "You have me wrapped around your pretty fingers. I'm just your humble servant."
Miu's eyes went soft, shining with affection. She lifted one hand—just enough to cup Lena's cheek—and pulled her down into a slow, sweet kiss that tasted like strawberries and coffee and quiet happiness.
"My humble servant, huh?" Miu whispered against her lips when they parted. "I could get used to this."
Lena smiled, resting her forehead against Miu's. "Good. Because you're stuck with her for the rest of the day... and the rest of forever, if I have anything to say about it."
After breakfast, they stayed wrapped up in each other for a long time, trading soft kisses and quiet conversation. Eventually Lena reached for her phone on the nightstand and glanced at Miu.
"Are you ready?" she asked gently. "We said we'd call them today."
Miu nodded, though a flicker of nervousness crossed her face. She shifted closer, resting her head on Lena's shoulder. "Yeah. Let's do it. Together."
Lena's arm tightened around her. The old guilt still lived in her chest — sharp and familiar but it no longer felt like a blade. It felt like something she was learning to carry differently now.
They decided to call Miu's father first. Lena set the phone on the bed between them on speaker and took Miu's hand, lacing their fingers tightly. The ring seemed to last forever.
When her father picked up, his voice was warm but surprised. "Miu? Is everything okay, sweetheart?"
"Hi, Papa," Miu said, smiling even though he couldn't see it. "Everything's more than okay. I'm with Lena right now."
A pause. Then, carefully: "Lena?"
"Hello, sir," Lena said, her voice steady but quieter than usual. "We're... together again. In Biarritz, actually."
Another silence stretched. When Miu's father finally spoke, his tone was measured, thoughtful.
"I see. And you're both happy?"
Miu squeezed Lena's hand. "Very happy, Dad. This time it feels right. We've worked through a lot."
Lena took a slow breath. "I know I caused a lot of pain before. To you, to Mak, to Miu most of all. I'm still sorry for that. I thought leaving was the only way to let your family heal. But I love your daughter. I love her more than I know how to say. And I'm going to spend every day proving that I can be good for her — for all of you."
Miu's eyes shone as she looked at Lena.
Another pause, then a soft chuckle from the older man. "You girls never made anything easy, did you? But if my daughter is happy... and if she chooses this again after everything... then I won't stand in the way. Just take care of each other. And come home soon so we can talk properly."
Miu let out a relieved laugh, tears gathering in her eyes. "We will. I love you, Papa. Thank you."
They ended the call with lighter hearts. Miu wiped her eyes and leaned in to kiss Lena softly.
"Your turn," she whispered. "Your dad."
Lena nodded. This call was shorter but no less emotional. Her father sounded surprised but ultimately supportive, happy that Lena had finally stopped running from what she wanted.
When both calls were done, Lena set the phone aside and pulled Miu fully into her arms again. She buried her face in Miu's hair, breathing her in.
"I was terrified he'd hate me forever," Lena admitted quietly. "After what happened with Mak... after the hospital... after I left you. I thought I'd broken your family beyond repair."
Miu shook her head, cupping Lena's face so she could look her in the eyes.
"You didn't break us. It hurt, yes. But you leaving actually helped some pieces fall back together. And now you're here. We're here. That's what matters." She kissed Lena again, slow and reassuring.
Lena's shoulders finally relaxed. She rolled them so Miu was lying on top of her, safe and warm in the big hotel bed.
"I still can't believe I get to have you again," Lena murmured, stroking Miu's back. "In France. In this ridiculous palace of a hotel. With your father's blessing."
Miu smiled against her neck. "Believe it. And don't you dare disappear on me again, Director."
"Never," Lena promised, voice fierce. "I'm yours. Humble servant and all."
They stayed like that for a while longer, the weight of the past easing in the golden French morning light, making space for whatever came next.
With both calls finished, a quiet sense of relief settled over the suite like warm sunlight. The heavy parts had been said. The past had been acknowledged.
For the first time in a long while, the future felt open instead of haunted.
Lena set her phone aside and pulled Miu back down into the mountain of pillows with her. They lay facing each other, legs loosely tangled, the duvet pulled up to their waists. The sea breeze drifted in through the open balcony doors, carrying the faint sound of waves.
Miu traced a lazy finger along the collar of Lena's robe. "That went better than I expected."
Lena hummed in agreement, catching Miu's hand and pressing a kiss to her knuckles. "Your dad sounded... almost happy for us. Or at least not furious. That's progress."
"He's always been softer with me than he lets on," Miu said with a small smile. "And he can see I'm happy. That's what matters to him."
They stayed like that for a while, simply breathing together, letting the emotional weight of the calls dissolve. Lena's hand moved in slow strokes up and down Miu's back, careful of the lingering soreness.
Eventually Miu shifted, propping her chin on Lena's chest. "So... since we're officially hiding from the world today, what should we do with the rest of the trip? You had that whole perfect itinerary. I feel bad abandoning it."
Lena's eyes softened with amusement. "You don't have to feel bad, my love. The itinerary was always flexible. The point was spending time with you, not checking boxes."
She reached over to the nightstand and grabbed the handwritten card she'd given Miu the day before. Unfolding it between them, she studied it with a thoughtful expression.
"We can keep the spirit of it without forcing the schedule," Lena suggested. "Tomorrow morning we could do the market if your legs are feeling better. You pick fruit, I'll still overcommit to cheese. Then maybe a gentle walk along the promenade instead of anything strenuous. No surf lessons this time — I'm not risking you being even more sore."
Miu laughed softly. "Good call. I don't think I could handle watching you in neoprene right now anyway. Too distracting."
Lena grinned and continued. "We can still do the secret low-tide thing whenever the timing works. And crepes whenever we want them. The rest... we play by ear. Room service. Balcony sunsets. Maybe a private massage for you if you're up for it. I want you relaxed, not exhausted."
Miu's expression turned fond. "You really do plan joy, don't you?"
"Only for you," Lena murmured, leaning in to kiss her temple. "We've earned this. No pressure, no rushing. Just us, the ocean, and whatever feels good each day."
Miu snuggled closer, tucking her face into the crook of Lena's neck. "I like that plan. A lot. Maybe we can stay an extra few days too? Extend the bubble a little longer before going back to real life."
"Already done," Lena said, a hint of smugness in her voice. "I extended the suite booking before we even left Thailand. Just in case."
Miu lifted her head, eyes wide with delighted surprise. "You sneaky romantic."
"Guilty." Lena pulled her in for a slow, lingering kiss. When they parted, she rested their foreheads together. "We've got time, baby. All the time we need."
Outside, the Biarritz sun climbed higher, but inside the suite, the day unfolded at their own gentle pace — full of quiet conversation, soft touches, and the comfortable peace of two people who had fought hard to find their way back to each other.
As evening settled over Biarritz, the sky outside the suite turned into soft washes of rose and gold.
Lena had slipped away for a few minutes while Miu dozed, and when she returned, the sound of running water and the gentle scent of lavender and vanilla filled the air.
She approached the bed and slid her arms beneath Miu without warning.
"Come on, baby."
Miu yelped in surprise as Lena lifted her bridal-style, effortlessly cradling her against her chest. "Lena! I can walk... sort of."
"You said you couldn't feel your legs this morning," Lena replied, pressing a kiss to Miu's temple as she carried her toward the bathroom. "I'm not taking any chances."
The bathroom was breathtaking — marble floors, golden light, and a large jacuzzi tub already filled and foaming with thick, fragrant bubbles. Steam curled lazily upward, catching the last of the sunset light streaming through the tall windows.
Miu burst into laughter, the sound bright and helpless as Lena carefully lowered her into the warm water.
"You are actually ridiculous," Miu said between giggles, sinking into the bubbles with a contented sigh. "A private market dinner, carrying me around like I'm made of glass, and now this? You're really going the extra mile today."
Lena smiled, undid her robe, and stepped into the tub as well, settling behind Miu.
She pulled her back gently against her chest so Miu could lean into her fully. The warm water embraced them both.
"I don't mind," she said quietly, reaching for a soft washcloth and the bottle of luxurious bath oil. "I would do anything to hear you laugh like that. I spent too long hearing you cry because of me. This... this is what I want for us now."
Miu's laughter softened into a quiet, emotional hum. She relaxed completely against Lena's body, her head resting back on Lena's shoulder.
There was nothing rushed, nothing heated. Just pure, aching intimacy.
Lena reached for the soft washcloth and bath oil. With slow, reverent movements, she began washing Miu — gliding the cloth along her arms, her collarbones, the curve of her shoulders, and down her back.
Every stroke was full of care, almost devotional.
She massaged shampoo into Miu's hair with gentle fingers, working the lather carefully before rinsing it away with handfuls of warm water. She traced the faint marks she'd left the night before with nothing but tenderness, as if committing each inch of Miu to memory in a new, gentler way.
There was nothing sexual in the touch — only profound intimacy. The kind that came from deep trust and hard-won second chances.
Just two bodies sharing warm water and quieter love, the outside world forgotten.
"You don't have to prove anything anymore," Miu whispered, voice thick with emotion.
"I know," Lena said softly, pressing a kiss to the side of Miu's neck. "But taking care of you like this... it heals something in me too."
They stayed in the tub until the water began to cool, wrapped in each other, trading occasional soft kisses and quiet words.
When they finally got out, Lena wrapped Miu in a thick towel first, then herself, and carried her back to the freshly made bed.
They curled up together under the sheets, skin still warm from the bath, the sound of the Atlantic drifting through the open balcony doors.
Miu nestled against Lena's chest, breathing steady and peaceful.
"Thank you," she whispered. "For today. For all of it."
Lena held her closer, lips brushing the crown of Miu's head.
"This is just the beginning, baby."
