Chapter 42

Miu's POV

I woke up slowly, wrapped in warmth and the faint scent of lavender from last night's bath. My body still ached, but it was a much gentler kind of sore today — the satisfying kind that reminded me how thoroughly Lena had loved me.

I stretched carefully and smiled when I felt Lena's arm tighten around my waist, pulling me back against her chest even in her sleep.

For a few quiet minutes, I just lay there listening to her breathing and the distant sound of the ocean. It still felt a little unreal — waking up in Biarritz with her after everything we'd been through.

Eventually Lena stirred, pressing a soft kiss to the back of my neck. "Morning, baby," she murmured, voice husky with sleep. "How are you feeling?"

"Better," I said honestly, turning in her arms so I could see her face. "I can actually walk today. Miracles do happen."

She grinned, looking far too pleased with herself. "Good. Because I want to take you downstairs for breakfast. Real breakfast. Then I have plans for us."

We got ready together, stealing kisses while brushing our teeth and choosing comfortable clothes. Lena kept glancing at me with this quiet excitement that made me ridiculously curious.

Down in the hotel's beautiful dining room, sunlight poured across the terrace and the sea sparkled in the distance. I filled my plate with fresh fruit, croissants, and yogurt while Lena watched me with soft eyes.

"Okay, spill it," I said after a few bites, nudging her foot under the table. "You've been practically vibrating since we sat down. What's the plan for today?"

Lena's whole face lit up. She leaned forward, eyes bright.

"Nothing too strenuous," she promised quickly. "I want you fully relaxed. But the tide is perfect this afternoon for the secret low-tide thing I mentioned on the itinerary. It's this hidden cove that only appears when the water pulls back. Just us. No crowds, no rush. We'll take it easy, comfortable shoes, maybe a light jacket. That's all I'm saying."

The way she described it, so carefully planned but still gentle with my recovery, made my chest feel warm. This was classic Lena — the woman who once planned an entire private market dinner but was now perfectly happy to adjust everything just so I wouldn't push myself.

"I love you," I said softly, reaching across the table to squeeze her hand. "You know that, right?"

"I do," she replied, lifting my hand to kiss my knuckles. "And I'm going to keep earning it."

After breakfast, we went back up to the suite to change into proper shoes and grab a small bag. I was standing in front of the mirror fixing my hair when my phone started ringing.

Lingling's FaceTime call lit up the screen.

I answered with a smile.

Ling's face appeared, and she immediately narrowed her eyes. "Oh my god. Look at you. You're glowing so hard I need sunglasses. And is that a hickey? Girl, you look like you got absolutely railed—"

"Ling!" I squeaked, face burning.

Before I could even try to defend myself, Lena walked into frame from behind me, wrapping her arms around my waist and resting her chin on my shoulder with that calm, satisfied smile of hers.

"Morning, Ling," Lena said smoothly.

Ling's expression changed instantly. She smiled — soft and genuine but there was still that familiar protective glint in her eyes.

"Schuett. Nice to see you properly back in frame." Her tone turned playfully threatening. "Just so we're clear: if you ever break my best friend's heart again, I will end you. Slowly. Creatively. And I'll enjoy every second of it."

Lena chuckled, holding me a little tighter. "Understood. I'm not going anywhere this time. And when we get back, I promise I won't hog all of Miu's time. She deserves proper catch-up time with you. Girls' nights, whatever you want. I'll make sure it happens."

Ling's face softened completely. "Good. I'm really happy for you two. You both deserve this after all the mess." She looked at me again. "Enjoy France, okay? And send pictures. Especially of Lena looking stupidly in love."

We ended the call laughing, and I leaned back against Lena's chest with a happy sigh.

"She's never letting me live this down," I muttered.

"Worth it," Lena whispered, kissing the side of my neck.

A little while later, we headed out. The private car took us near the Rocher de la Vierge, and Lena led me down a narrow, hidden path I never would've found on my own. The wind played with my hair as we descended toward the sea.

When we finally reached it, I stopped in my tracks.

Because the tide was low, a secret little cove had revealed itself . Smooth rocks, glittering tide pools, and a sheltered space protected by the cliffs. It felt like the ocean had stepped aside just for us.

"Lena..." I whispered, turning to her with wide eyes.

She looked a little nervous, watching my reaction carefully. "This is the secret. I found it when I was planning the trip. No tourists. Just us."

My heart felt too big for my chest. I stepped forward and wrapped my arms around her waist, pulling her close.

"You planned all this," I said, voice thick. "Even after I made us stay in bed yesterday."

"Of course I did," she murmured, holding me gently. "I just want you happy."

The hidden cove was even more magical up close. The low tide had pulled the sea back like a curtain, revealing a small, sheltered pocket of smooth dark rocks, shallow glittering tide pools, and soft patches of sand that felt almost private.

The cliffs curved around us protectively, muffling the louder waves and creating this perfect little world that felt like it belonged only to us.

I crouched beside one of the larger tide pools, watching tiny fish dart between bright pink anemones and hermit crabs. The sun warmed my back, and the salt air filled my lungs with every breath.

Lena knelt beside me, rolling up her sleeves. She reached into the water without hesitation and plucked something out, holding it up to the light.

"Look at this," she said softly, placing a piece of smooth sea glass in my palm, a beautiful translucent blue, the color of the deepest part of the ocean. "It matches your eyes when you're happy."

I closed my fingers around it, smiling. "You're such a sap."

"Only for you," she replied, brushing a strand of hair behind my ear. Her fingers lingered on my cheek for a moment longer than necessary.

We wandered slowly through the cove, collecting shells and pretty stones. Every few minutes Lena would glance over to check on me, making sure I wasn't overexerting myself.

"You know," I said, sitting down on a flat rock and patting the space beside me, "when you wrote 'a secret — if the tide is low' on that itinerary, I imagined something cute. Not... this. Not an actual hidden paradise."

Lena settled behind me, pulling me back against her chest. Her arms wrapped around my waist naturally, chin resting on my shoulder.

"I found photos of this place when I was researching the trip," she admitted.

I tilted my head to look at her. "You really did all that scouting while I was still pretending I might say no to this trip?"

"I had to be prepared," she said with a small, self-deprecating smile. "In case you decided I didn't deserve a second chance."

My heart squeezed. I turned fully in her arms so I could face her, straddling her lap on the warm rock. My hands came up to cup her face.

"You do deserve it, Lena. We both do." I brushed my thumb across her cheekbone. "I was so angry when you left. I hated you for making that choice for me. But... I understand now why you did it. You were carrying so much guilt."

Lena's eyes darkened with old pain, but she didn't look away. "I saw you in that hospital bed, bleeding because of me....because of the mess I caused with Mak. I thought if I stayed, I would keep destroying the most important thing in your life: your family. So I ran. Every day I was gone, I regretted it more."

I leaned in and kissed her slowly, tasting salt and sunlight on her lips. When I pulled back, I rested my forehead against hers.

"You're here now. And we're fixing things. We now have both our families' support. And I choose you. Again and again."

Lena's hands slid down to my hips, gripping me a little tighter. Her voice dropped, rougher now. "I still can't believe I get to touch you like this. That I get to wake up next to you and plan stupid secret coves and know you're mine."

The air between us shifted. The gentle breeze suddenly felt charged. I rocked my hips once, teasingly, and felt her breath hitch.

"You can touch me however you want," I whispered against her mouth. "We're completely alone here."

Lena's eyes darkened with heat. One hand slid under the hem of my shirt, palm warm against my lower back.

"Be careful what you offer, baby," she murmured, voice low and dangerous in the best way. "Because I've been thinking about having you like this...under the open sky, with the sound of the waves since we got here."

I smiled, nipping at her bottom lip as I pressed closer, feeling the growing tension between our bodies.

"Then stop thinking," I breathed, "and show me."

The kiss deepened fast, turning hungry. Lena's hands were firm on my hips as I straddled her on the sun-warmed rock, the distant rhythm of the waves matching the pulse between my legs.

We were completely alone, the cliffs shielding us, the low tide keeping the world away. It felt wild and safe at the same time.

Lena pulled back just enough to look at me, eyes dark but still careful. "Are you sure? You're still sore—"

"I'm sure," I whispered, rocking slowly against her. "I want you. Here. Like this."

She let out a low groan and flipped us carefully so I was on my back on the smooth, flat rock, her body hovering over mine. She was so gentle, always so gentle with me now. Spreading my jacket beneath me like a blanket before sliding her hand under my shirt.

Her mouth found mine again as her fingers worked open the button of my pants. She took her time undressing me just enough, kissing every new inch of skin she revealed.

When her hand finally slipped between my thighs, I was already soaked.

"Fuck, baby," she breathed against my neck. "So wet for me already."

I gasped as two of her fingers slid through my folds, circling my clit with perfect, unhurried pressure. She knew exactly how to touch me — slow, steady strokes that built heat deep in my belly.

The sun warmed my skin, the sea air cooled it, and Lena's mouth moved from my lips to my throat to my breasts, sucking gently on a nipple while her fingers worked me open.

I moaned her name, hips rolling up into her hand.

"Look at me," she whispered.

I opened my eyes. The sight of her above me — hair tousled by the wind, eyes full of love and hunger pushed me over the edge. I came hard, crying out her name as pleasure crashed through me in long, shuddering waves.

Lena kept stroking me through it, gentler now, drawing every last tremor out until I was boneless and trembling beneath her.

She kissed me softly as I came down, murmuring praises against my lips. "So beautiful... I love watching you fall apart like this."

My breathing was still ragged when I pushed at her shoulders, trying to reverse our positions. "My turn."

Lena caught my wrists gently and pinned them above my head with one hand. "You don't have to, baby. Just seeing you like this, hearing you moan my name — that's enough. I already—"

"I'm not asking," I said firmly, twisting free. I needed this. Needed to feel her, to give her the same pleasure she gave me. "I want you, Lena. I need to have you."

She hesitated, eyes searching mine, still trying to protect me even now.

But I saw the exact moment her resolve cracked , the way her pupils blew wide when I pushed her onto her back and settled between her thighs.

"Fuck... Miu," she groaned as I tugged her pants down.

I didn't tease. I was too hungry for her. I spread her legs and licked a long, slow stripe up her center, tasting how wet she already was. Lena's hips jerked, a broken sound escaping her throat. I moaned against her at how good she tasted and dove in deeper.

I used my tongue on her clit in tight circles while sliding two fingers inside her. She was so tight, so hot, gripping me with every thrust. I curled my fingers exactly the way she liked and sucked harder on her swollen clit.

Lena's hand flew to my hair, not pushing me away but holding me closer. Her moans grew louder, raw, echoing softly off the cliffs around us.

"Miu....oh god, baby— right there—"

Hearing her like this — the powerful, composed Director completely undone because of me — made heat pool low in my belly again. I doubled my efforts, fucking her faster with my fingers while my tongue flicked relentlessly.

She tried to hold back at first, still trying to be careful with me, but I wouldn't let her. I curled my fingers harder, sucked her clit into my mouth, and moaned loudly against her so she could feel the vibration.

Lena shattered with a guttural cry of my name, her thighs trembling around my head, her walls pulsing hard around my fingers. I kept going, gentler but not stopping, drawing out every wave until she was shaking and gasping.

Only then did I crawl up her body and kiss her deeply, letting her taste herself on my tongue. Lena wrapped her arms around me tightly, still trembling.

"I told you I didn't need it," she whispered hoarsely, but there was a smile in her voice. "But fuck... I'm so glad you didn't listen."

I laughed softly and nuzzled into her neck. "I needed it too. I need all of you."

We stayed tangled together on the warm rock for a long time, trading slow kisses as the sun dipped lower and the tide began its slow return. The waves whispered around us like they were keeping our secret.

Lena stroked my hair, voice full of quiet wonder. "I love you so much it scares me sometimes."

I kissed her chest, right over her heart. "Good. Because I'm never letting you go again."

We stayed in the cove until the sun began to dip toward the horizon, painting the sky in deep oranges and purples. The tide was slowly creeping back in, as if politely reminding us it was time to leave our secret world. Lena helped me up, her hands lingering on my waist, and we walked back to the car hand-in-hand, both of us still flushed and glowing from what we'd shared.

By the time we reached the Hôtel du Palais, the sky had turned a rich indigo. We were both a little tired, a little sandy, and thoroughly satisfied. Lena drew us a quick shower together — nothing heated this time, just warm water and gentle touches as we rinsed off the sea salt. Afterward, we collapsed onto the bed for a short rest, tangled in each other's arms while the sound of the ocean drifted through the open balcony doors.

"I could stay like this forever," I murmured against her chest.

Lena kissed my forehead. "Soon. But I made dinner reservations. Nothing too fancy if you're not up for it."

I smiled against her skin. "Give me an hour. I want to get ready properly tonight."

took my time in the dressing area, wanting to drive her a little crazy. I chose the dress I'd packed on a whim — a slinky, backless black number that clung to every curve like liquid silk. The neckline plunged daringly low in the front, showing just enough cleavage to be sinful without being obvious.

Thin straps crossed elegantly over my shoulders, while the fabric draped and pooled at my hips before falling to mid-thigh with a subtle slit on one side. The material shimmered faintly when I moved, catching the light like stars on water.

I left my hair loose and wavy, added a touch of deep red lipstick, and finished with the delicate gold necklace.

As I smoothed the dress over my hips, a soft smile tugged at my lips. Ever since we got back together and came on this trip, we couldn't seem to keep our hands off each other.

It was like our bodies knew better than our minds just how much we had needed this — needed each other. We knew one another so well now: every sensitive spot, every sigh, every way to draw pleasure out slowly or take greedily.

After all the pain, the separation, and the guilt, it felt like we were finally allowing ourselves to be greedy with love and touch.

I deserved this. We deserved this kind of freedom and happiness. The thought made my smile widen, warm and content, as I gave myself one last look in the mirror.

When I finally stepped out of the bedroom, Lena was waiting on the sofa in the sitting area. She looked devastating — tailored black trousers and a crisp white shirt with the top few buttons undone, sleeves rolled up to show her toned forearms.

Elegant. Powerful. Far too beautiful.

The moment she saw me, her breath hitched audibly. Her eyes dragged slowly down my body, darkening with immediate, unmistakable hunger. She stood up, jaw tight, like she was physically restraining herself.

"Miu..." Her voice came out rough. "Fuck. You're trying to kill me."

I smiled sweetly, but inside I was glowing with satisfaction. This was exactly the reaction I wanted — the way her gaze kept dropping to my chest, my legs, the curve of my hips.

She crossed the room in three strides and pulled me flush against her, one hand sliding possessively over the bare skin of my lower back.

"You look..." She swallowed hard, leaning in to press an open-mouthed kiss just below my ear. "I don't think I'm going to make it through dinner without touching you."

"Good," I whispered, tilting my head to give her better access. "I was counting on that."

Her hands roamed, one tracing the plunging neckline, the other slipping down to squeeze my ass through the thin silk.

She kissed me deeply, hungrily, like she wanted to devour me right there. I had to gently push her back with a laugh before we never made it out of the suite.

At dinner, in a quiet upscale restaurant with ocean views, Lena couldn't keep her hands off me. Under the table, her palm rested high on my thigh, fingers tracing teasing circles against my skin through the slit in the dress.

Every time I shifted, she squeezed possessively.

Heads turned. Other diners kept glancing our way — at the striking woman in the daring black dress and the intense, elegant woman who couldn't stop touching her.

I felt their stares like a spotlight.

Lena noticed too. When one man at a nearby table stared a little too long, her expression turned ice-cold. She leveled a sharp, warning glare at him that could have frozen the Atlantic, then pulled me closer on the banquette seat, draping her arm around my shoulders and pressing a slow, deliberate kiss to my temple.

"Mine," she murmured against my skin, loud enough for anyone nearby to hear.

I shivered at the possessiveness in her voice and leaned into her, my hand resting on her thigh under the table. "Yours," I confirmed softly, smiling.

The rest of dinner passed in a haze of excellent food, lingering touches, and heated glances. By the time we finished dessert, the hunger between us had built into something electric and undeniable.

Lena leaned in, lips brushing my ear as she whispered, "I need to get you back to the hotel. Right now."

I turned my head just enough to catch her lips in a quick, promising kiss.

"Then take me home, Director."
