Chapter 3
Snake's POV
"You've got to be kidding me." Was the first thing out of my mouth when Siren told me his next mission.
"No." He simply replied.
Disbelief and anger flowed through me. Disbelief for the level of difficulty and anger for the danger Chaos was putting him into. Then frustration because Siren won't say no to missions that include End in some sort of form. Gritting my teeth, I rushed to catch up with Siren who was leaving me to get ready for the mission.
"You can't go. It's too dangerous!"
Siren gave me a side glance, and kept walking while channeling. His posture was stiff and tense.
"Then I should certainly be the one to go if it's too dangerous. Rather me than someone else."
"Why not no one go? This isn't a necessary mission, more a voluntary one." I argued with him.
"I'm going Snake, and you can't stop me."
With that said, Siren shut his bedroom door in my face. I clenched my jaw and crossed my arms, willing my anger to calm down. Taking deep calming breaths, I waited in front of his door. After a few minutes, he still hadn't come out, so I decided to go in.
As soon as I opened the door, water doused me from head to toe. It kept pouring over me, so I tried to step out of the stream above my head and ended up losing my footing and falling towards the ground.
I yelped, preparing to face my doom with the floor, when I hit a strong stomach instead and felt muscular arms wrap around me, I instantly grabbed hold. I sputtered and coughed trying to expel the water from my lungs.
"You deserve this." Siren said in a condescending tone.
I nodded weakly, letting Siren drag me to his bathroom to dry me off. He gave me a big fluffy blue towel to dry my body and took a smaller green towel to dry my hair. Silence filled the air as we busied ourselves of disposing the liquid off my body.
"So... when did you instal the water balloon addition to your room security?" I asked to break the silence.
I saw the tips of his mouth curve upwards before thinning out when he remembered he's supposed to be mad at me,"Before you came in."
I just laughed. Wow, he expected me to barge in, so to punish me he prepared a booby trap. Am I that predictable? To my boyfriend... probably.
"Just wait Si, I'll get you back. Just you wait." I threatened jokingly.
He rolled his eyes and smiled. I returned the smile, and stopped drying myself off. I grabbed both towels, draping them over the shower door, before shoving Siren out of the bathroom onto his bed to sit down and seriously talk.
"How long?" I asked him, getting comfortable, leaning against the wall on top of his covers.
"How long what—"
"How long is the mission?" I cut him off, I'm not playing this games right now.
"A week." Was his abrupt answer.
"What do you have to do?" I wanted to know the details.
"Go undercover."
"Siren, stop it," I demanded sternly, "Stop avoiding giving me direct answers."
He pouted at me, peeking under his lashes with the most innocent eyes ever. My resolve was crumbling, but I willed myself to stay strong. I needed to know these details. Finally, he gave up with the puppy eyes, which made me sigh in relief, I wouldn't have lasted much longer.
He straightened up, taking his weight off his pillows and got off the bed. Walking over to his desk, he opened the top draw on the left and pulled out a folder. He opened it, giving it a quick review, before heading back to the bed and handing me the folder.
"I'm going undercover in CHOD. I'll be there for a week without any communication to the Orbitals, Order, and Chaos. No powers, different name, different look, bad backstory. My mission is to find End's commander and stop them from releasing the prisoners in CHOD. Also, to find out anything I can about End's next move." Siren summed up sounding professional and unafraid, but I could detect the slight hint of worry in his eyes.
"Does this absolutely have to be solo?" I asked already knowing the answer.
He nodded.

Siren's POV
"Are you ready Commander?" Harmony asked, approaching me.
We stood next to the entrance of the jail. A dark hole in the ground that brought back horrible memories. Bars across the large hole, wind whistling through, making it seem like the whole thing was howling.
I had on a white tank with grey sweat pants, the standard uniform for the imprisoned. For disguise, my skin had paled drastically, so my hair would darken to the eye. I let my eyes be consumed by the flames of Hestia so I only had a cackling fire for a pupil that glowed that warm orange I so loved.
I used Hera's blessing to manipulate anyone who looked at me to see me as taller, with more defined cheeks, and the look of an elvish royal. I also made it look as if my tongue had been cut out, so I wouldn't have to talk and be questioned about my communicating methods. Since I'm undercover, the only power I'm allowed to use are my patrons, Order and Chaos' powers are cancelled out, as well as my ex-fathers.
"Commander?" Ebony said, interrupting my thoughts.
During my thought process, he along with the rest of the Orbitals, managed to sneak up on me. They stood with me as the bars retreated into their respective holes. Snake was tracing the fake tattoo on my shoulder, that spread across half my chest and most of my upper back.
"I'll be back in a week." My vague reply was.
"Please don't do anything irrational to draw attention to yourself"" Snake pleaded.
"I'll have to get attention to find out information." I raised an eyebrow giving him the duh face.
"I have to agree with Snake, Siren. This is where the worst of the worst are kept." Star intervened, "If something happens, no one can help you, you have no powers, there are limited options—"
I cut her off, "I'll be fine. Don't worry about me."
I waved to my team and gave a salute to Chaos and Order, wherever they were. I gave Snake a quick, but passionate kiss on the lips before back pedaling and falling into the hole with cuffs on my wrists and ankles, but my wings preventing me from falling too far.
"I'll be back in a week..."

Siren's POV
Darkness covered my vision as I fell. The wind whistled past me, reminding me of my past horrors. I shivered and closed my eyes, wishing I'd get there faster. Minutes passed, after about ten I felt the coldness receding and heat expanding.
Eventually I got so warm, I started sweating a bit. As soon as I had that thought, I plunged into freezing cold liquid. I opened my eyes and was met with blurry darkness, I tried to swim up, but the chains around my wrist and ankles were connected forcing me to stay put.
My air had started to run out already because of my unexpectedness for the liquid. I started panicking, my immobility was going to kill me before I even reached CHOD. I struggled, trying to reach the top to retract oxygen into my lungs, but even my wings weren't helping.
I grew sluggish as black tinted my vision signaling I was going to pass out. My muscles relaxed and my head rolled forward. The last thing I saw before I blacked out was a hook attaching to the chain that connected my wrists and ankles.
***Line Break***
"WAKE UP!"
Instantly I jolted awake, sitting up so fast, the remaining liquid flew off me. Surprised shouts echoed around me as I glanced around. I was on a cot with people in white surrounding me, probably medical professionals, and one person in black. I assume he's the one who screamed at me the way he was positioned.
The scene around me was pretty amusing, all the people in white were shouting and running around like headless chickens while the one in black was trying to calm them down. I chuckled in my head, Chaos would like laugh with me.
"ENOUGH!" The one in black shouted.
Everyone froze like they were in freeze tag, except the ones who lost balance and fell on the floor. I smiled at that, funny little nerds. Then the one in black turned towards me scowling. What did I do now?
"EVERYONE OUT!" He ordered.
Once all the little chaotic medical team was out of my room, immediately the guy in black softened. The scowl slipping off his face and a warm smile replaced it. My confusion must have shown on my face because he approached my bed chuckling.
I scooted away from him, eyeing the bipolar man warily. My chains rattled against each other as I sat on one side of the bed and him the other. The man in black was built a lot bigger than me, but I was more lean. He was very tall thought too, but I noticed he had my smile wrinkles than frown. The man sat on my bed studying me, while I did he same.
"You're different than I thought you'd be." He said after awhile.
I cocked my head in confusion. What was he talking about? Ohhh he must be the guy Chaos told me knew about the undercover, the only one who my Lord and Lady trusted enough.
"How so?" I channeled at him.
His eyebrows rose when my voice infiltrated him mind, but he didn't question it. Just made himself more comfortable, which I decided to do as well.
"You look barely above 18."
"I'm actually over a century old."
The man merely stared at me, but his smile didn't go away. It looked like I was entertaining to him.
"Hm... well, welcome to CHOD Commander Siren."
"I would say pleasure to be here, but I don't think it'll be that pleasant."
He actually laughed at that one. I wasn't joking, this seems like a death wish, if my cover's blown, I'm dead.
"I'm Cheif, but you can call me Charles."
I frowned at that remembering my deceased friend, the son of Hephaestus. Chief sort of reminded me of him too, the scary act on the outside, but a big softie on the inside. Built big, but gentle.
"I understand you're mission, and I'm here to aid you in any way possible, but I will be forced to act as I normally do to keep your cover so try not to hold a grudge, ok?"
I smiled and nodded in agreement, holding out my hand to him. Chief took it and helped me up. He led me out of the medical room and to where the commotion was. Before we went in, he stopped me giving my shoulder a tight squeeze.
"Be careful, Commander, these people, they aren't like the normal criminals. They'll do whatever they can to make you break. Focus on your mission yes, but protect yourself at the same time."
The seriousness in his voice took hold of me and reminded me that, instead of picking out the criminals in a crowd, the crowd was the criminals. I took a deep breath and nodded my head. Wait, Chief said break, not kill, great these people are probably going to be like my past tormentors, whatever, I can deal with that. I've got experience.
Chief gave me a pat on the back before turning to face the entrance. I sensed the change in him, his face hardened and he clamped on his emotions. Suddenly without warning he grabbed the chain connector of my cuffs and yanked me forward with him. Not expecting it, I let out a silent yelp and lost my footing.
My great entrance of meeting the crowd of the worst criminals in the universe was being dragged by the big Chief into the cafeteria by my chains. How great, another fantastic fact, it looked like I was the youngest out of the whole lot as well.
Remembering I was supposed to be an awful no good criminal, I started struggling ferociously as I got dragged to the center, glaring at anyone who caught my eyes. Unfortunately the people just stared back curiously, but also with a bit of malice.
"This is your new cellmate, Torseus," Chief announced, "He'll be staying in cell 22S."
Once that was said, I saw a group near the middle of the cafeteria crowd grin. I groaned in my head, Hera's blessing allowed me to have a glimpse into their minds. Looks like they aren't the worst of the worst in this crowd, but they also aren't the best.
Chief threw me to the floor in the center of them all. I landed on my side and turned back to glare at Chief, barring my teeth. I heard a few ugly chuckles in front of me, but once I turned towards them, I intensified my glare. They just continued to look amused and glared back, but I saw a sliver of fear hidden.
"Lights out in ten minutes." Chief said before walking away.
He forgot to unlock my chains. I turned my glare back on him, but due to his back being turned he didn't notice. Suddenly I was pulled to my feet by some random dude who held me up like a kitten, inspecting me. I glared at him darkly.
"He doesn't look like much." The guy holding me said.
"He's young, but he's also an elf, so he's probably a lot older than he looks." Another guy said approaching me. The guy holding me shook me a bit, making me glare at him again.
"What could he have done that landed him here?" A gruff voice asked, belonging to someone sitting in the corned.
"Why don't you let him talk for himself?" Another random voice questioned the crowd.
The man holding me shook me again. Having enough of it, I wrenched my hands apart, as well as my feet breaking the chains. I grabbed the guys hand on me, bending it back, forcing him to bend backwards as well. Using the guys momentum, I twisted, bringing his hand arm behind his back and his hand between his shoulder blades. I slammed him onto the nearest table, immobilizing him into an uncomfortable position.
I did everything so fast, only other elves in the room could've seen it happen. The crowds faces all morphed into one of shock and surprise, including the guards, but since I wasn't attacking anymore, they didn't move.
"Wow." Someone said.
Almost all heads nodded in agreement.
"Hey," the guy I was holding said, "let me go!"
I shoved him away from me onto the floor. Then I stepped back, and crossed my arms standing tall. The guy growled, but sat down at his table, not in the mood I assumed. The cafeteria was filled with silence, the awkwardness filling the air.
"Why won't you talk?" Someone asked, to break the tension.
I raised an eyebrow, I sensed the ten minutes was about to end. I smirked at all of them and opened my mouth. I heard several gasps and I saw some jaws drop, but then a sound rang signaling bed time. I left the surprisingly tame crowd of criminals to find my cell.
"He's an axon..." was the last whisper I heard before I exited.
******
Siren's POV
About two minutes after I found my cell, I heard shuffling and three other people came in sitting down on the unoccupied beds. They stared at me curiously, well two of them, the last glared at me.
I sat there indifferent and continued to meditate. Criss-cross-applesauce style, with my hands resting in my knees. I closed my eyes and relaxed. Letting my other senses do the work.
My cell mates left me alone for awhile, but soon enough, I felt a presence come closer. I held up my hand as a stop don't come any closer signal. I took a deep breath and opened my eyes. It was the mean one.
Once my eyes were open, he took that as a signal to approach me. He stood across from me and I stared up at him, not feeling the need to get up.
"That guy you slammed into the table earlier." He started, "That was my brother."
Ok, was I supposed to do something with this information or...
He continued, "You've just made an enemy in him and me."
I just stared at him, was I supposed to feel threatened? I literally took him down in less than five seconds. I've faced worse than him and his brother, unless he has a whole squad, then I shouldn't be worried.
I waved him off. He looked deeply offended and glared at me as he retreated to his bed. I curled up on my bed and wrapped my wings around me. Nothing could get through my wings and to me without me noticing.
"Watch your back Torseus, and sleep with one eye open."
I merely raised my hand out of my wings and summoned a ball of fire to my hand. My cell mates cursed. Inwardly chuckling at that, I turned in for a light sleep.
***Line Break***
The next morning, a sound alerted me to early activity. My cell mates were getting up and grabbing cleaning supplies. I hoped it was for bathroom time and not scrubbing floors with.
I followed them silently, all cell doors were open and everyone was heading towards a communal bathroom. Was this a public thing? Gross, I'd prefer not to show my body to even more people.
Ahh, there were about a dozen showers, not doors, but curtains instead. All the prisoners formed lines after the stalls and waited until the one in front of them was done. I waited until the very last person was done and hopped in.
The water was freezing, but I used my wings to hide me from the shower curtain and beyond. Finishing up quickly, I lit myself aflame to burn off the water and got dressed.
I found my way to the cafeteria again, the line for food was short due to my procrastination. I decided to get in line, because why not? Free food, it actually didn't look that bad.
I found an empty side of a table and sat there, eating slowly and observing everyone else. I listened for whispers of End and clues to who the commander was. Surprisingly enough I heard a lot, I probably could've come one day and been set. I stored that information for later use to tell my Lord.
I didn't realize it, but the whole time my eyes were closed. When I opened them, I had table mates. They didn't look very happy. I inwardly shrugged and continued eating. They didn't notice that I noticed them so, to keep it that way I closed my eyes again and listened.
"You think he'd join?"
"Two days and we're outta here—"
"If they hold up their end of the deal."
"He's gaining allies first—"
"We are the allies idiot."
"There's more—"
"Then he's attacking."
"Really? Already? They just got a new commander!"
"That's why, so the commander doesn't have time to train—"
"How does End know the commander hasn't already trained?"
"He's End, duh."
"When are they attacking?"
"The—"
Most of that made sense, but I didn't get everything. Hands slammed on the table startling me out of my focus. My eyes flew open and I realized the one who slammed their hands was glaring at me.
"Before you idiots give everything up, how about we ask Torseus to join." The guy growled at the rest of his table.
The rest of his group shut up before looking at me. I just gave them my best confused face there was. Pretending I didn't hear any of it.
"Someone get him something to write with." The big guy demanded, probably their leader.
Someone scrambled away from the table to do as asked. We all sat in silence, me as usual while the rest looked uncomfortable. After a few minutes the guy came back with some sort of writing utensil from one planet and something to write on with from another. The guy shoved them into my hands and sat down once again.
The leader dude looked at me seriously, "If you were to fight, which aside would you fight on?"
They all waited while I raised an eyebrow at them and turned towards the paper. Once I was finished, my words floated off the paper thing and into the air for them to read.
"Fight in what? Who's on which side?"
"The up coming War, haven't you heard? Chaos and Order against End." A guy next to the leader said kind of rudely.
"Don't care, I'll stay out of it."
"You can't, you have to choose." Someone across from me growled.
"No I don't."
"Yes you do!" The leader slammed his hands on the table to emphasize his point, "You're in CHOD so you're already on Chaos' bad side."
I smirked at him, "Yes, but doesn't mean I'll risk my life anymore."
"Why are you here anyways? You don't look like much." The one sitting next to me stated frustrated.
"I'm more than you. That I know."
The leader, probably fed up with my attitude, stood up and flipped the table. His crew, along with me flew to the ground, but luckily my reflexes made sure I didn't look stupid. I landed on my stomach, knocking the wind out of me, while his cronies made funny noises and fell on their bums and rolled.
I quickly hopped to my feet. The guards had already left for their break so I was on my own, but that's the way I like it. I stood in a calm defensive stance. The leader charged like a raging bull, so I grabbed him by the horns(quite literally, he was from the planet that actually had horns on their persons) and spun until I faced his incoming buddy.
I let go, watching him fly and give his friend a big hug knocking them both to the ground. My neck hair stood up on end, so I ducked as a fist was thrust where my head just was, I turned while crouched and gutted the dude.
He doubled over, so when I straightened, I gave him a right hook knocking him out. I jumped just as a foot swept where my legs were. Once I landed, there were two more goonies with me.
One grabbed my arms, while the one in front of me advanced. I head butted the one behind me and jumped, kicking the one in front of me in the gut, while using him as a spring board as well.
I flipped over the man behind me, twisting so we switched positions. I kicked out his legs and forced him to kick his buddy to the left in his baby making place. That guy went down with a groan. I winced in sympathy.
I spun the guy I was holding around, and kicked his feet out. As he went down I caught him him horizontally and spun in a circle, so anyone who approached us would get hit with this guys feet or arms.
Once everyone was down, I quickly knocked him out as well. Only a couple table buddies left, they surrounded me. I watched them warily. The one behind me went for a punch, I sidestepped and grabbed the arm, pulling him forward.
His momentum gave him speed so I was able to swing him, knocking the other three to the ground. The guy I swung fell to the ground, so I gave him a kick to the face knocking him out. I jumped on the guy still on the ground, as the other two got up and pinned him.
The leader tried to kick me off him, but just as his foot was about to hit me, I flattened myself and rolled off the guy. Leader man ended up knocking out his own. He was down to himself, and his buddy who was still wincing at his man pain.
The leader growled at me, I smirked back and ran at him. He got in a defensive stance, but a couple feet away from the leader I did a cartwheel, and then landed on my feet. I jumped into the air front flipping over him, grabbing his shoulders as I went.
When I landed, I pulled him with me, so he slammed down onto his buddy definitely knocking him out. The leader groaned on the floor, rolling off his goon. He got up stumbling a bit, probably a bit sore from the rough landing, and a bit dizzy as well.
"How did you get here?" He asked incredulously.
I must be really awesome. I lit my hands aflame, awing anyone who hasn't seen my patrons power. I made the fire form my words and the criminals read them, except for the ones unconscious.
"I got caught." Duh.
"What did you do?" He sounded scared at his own question, he was trembling, from fear or exhaustion, I couldn't tell.
I gave them the darkest smile I could manage. The criminals visibly shivered, so I must have succeeded.
"I killed Commander Alpha..."

Siren's POV
It was a couple days later around lunch time when everyone started acting odd. The last few days I was left alone, except for the couple times I was challenged by the less threatening criminals, but it was no big deal. I only had a black eye and a couple broken fingers, the opposers were off for worse.
I told Chief everything I knew and learned, he told Chaos for me in case I forgot, but I'll repeat it when I get back anyways. I had three more days until my mission was at an end, but somehow I felt like today was the day I would return.
Suddenly the whole area shook. Instantly I was out of my seat and on my feet. I was at the source of where the shaking was, detecting it with my slowly forming ex-father's powers. The bars of CHOD's were being weakened I suspected, if my powers were coming back.
Out of no where the part of wall where I was at blew up. I flew all the way to the other side of the area and hit the wall hard. I fell from near the top all the way down, landing on my left leg weirdly.
Distinctly I heard a snap and flaring pain erupted. Black spots danced in front of my eyes, I probably hit my head too, my ribs felt bruised as well. People surrounded me, grabbing my arms and dragging me with them.
I struggled, but every time I was close to escaping, a kick to my broken leg interrupted my focus. I was dragged to the very empty space where the wall once was and dropped. I kept my head down, and tried to stand, but a kick to my back had me on the ground again.
Gritting my teeth, I rolled, and leapt up at the kicker. Ducking from the punch, and giving an uppercut, he fell unaware of what was happening anymore. I flamed myself up and pushed the fire out to give me a five foot radius of protection, putting all my weight on my good leg.
I turned to face the one who blew up the wall, and to my utter surprise, it was a woman. Not that I have anything against women, look at my team, but I didn't expect End to include women in his standards.
"Hello Commander Siren, it's nice to finally meet you." The woman said.
She sounded familiar, but I couldn't be sure who it was with the mask on her face. The way she said meet didn't sound like she hasn't met me before. I must know her. Wait, she said... great, covers blown. Thanks so much. I didn't respond.
She frowned and walked around me. I faced her, not letting her behind my back, pivoting, and ignoring my broken leg. I observed her, she looked the same age as me, but I couldn't be sure. She had sparkling blue eyes that I could see through her mask, and her hair was a odd purple, not dark enough to be royal, but not light enough to be lavender.
"Change back."
I shrugged, why not. I summoned my usual attire. My mask appeared along with my weapons, my disguise disappearing. My favorable eye color, my usual height, me. The woman in front of me hissed, I frowned. That was rude.
"You!" She screamed.
Me? What did I do? I merely did as asked.
"Apóvli̱tos... how dare you show your face!" She growled at me.
"Actually, I'm wearing a mask..." I channeled amused.
The criminals around me gasped, my voice and my change, I think they're overwhelmed. Poor them, the woman in front of me sneered though, glaring.
"You ruined my life! You left me! I fell in love with you, and you left me!"
I held my hands up, I didn't mean to. Unfortunately it's happened before, but that's life. I must know this girl though, if she fell in love with me and knows my old name.
"Once you betrayed me, I turned to End. He's saved me." She calmed down.
There was no love sick look, so he must only be a friend. Also, betrayed is a rather descriptive word... hurtful. Suddenly a kick to my leg brought me to the ground in pain. Air hissed out of my mouth and through my nose. I glared at the woman who just sneered back.
"I'm his Commander now. I'm at his side, whispering ideas in his ear." She started circling me, as I cradled my broken leg on the floor.
"Did you know it was me behind the cameras in End's place? Did you know it was me who gave him the ideas of your torture?" She walked around me until she was in front of me.
Painstakingly I stood, taking out Silent and leaning on it with my left hand. She was the one? Why would she? Couldn't she just have moved on?
"It was me who suggested the taking. It was me who said electricity. It was me who offered to take Twizne. Do you even know who I am?" She spat bitterly at me, but before it hit my face it evaporated.
Slowly, and dramatically, she took off her mask. Everyone else froze around me. I barely noticed the appearance of my team, and my Lord and Lady. I didn't register the sword that impaled my shoulder from behind. Or the scream of my boyfriend as my feet were taken out from under me and my back hit the floor. Hands grabbing at me and dragging me away from my loved ones.
All that I could focus on was the girl in front of me. The one who I saw every time I entered my chosen planet. The one who I taught and talked with. Luckily for me I didn't reveal anymore information than to someone I just met. This girl, I never expected to turn and didn't know how I was supposed to fight against.
How could she turn away from me? From her family? From everything she knew? Just because I left to save others... I never thought she'd be one for selfishness.
"Ariel..."
Tell me what you think...
