Chapter Twenty

Skliros seemed calm for such a situation. "No. No need. It was obvious enough, I apologize for making it too easy for you." He remarked before floating over to Kiumbe who was looking at some notes. "I'll make sure to make it harder next time," the Darkrai promises.

"Skliros you're under arrest. Let that Eevee go now!" A Torterra exclaimed in anger. Skliros rolled his eyes. "Fine. You can have her. I don't care. She's not even worth anything." Skliros remarked.

Not worth anything? Fae wondered, feeling slightly hurt. Well, he was a villain, but she thought he would at least be a little nice to her.

Skliros untied Fae and threw her over towards the starters. "Well, that was easy." Paarthurnax remarked. "Hmm, perhaps too easy. What are you going to do now? Are you going to give up?" The black Charizard asked.

Skliros chuckled darkly. His muscles were tense. "What do you think the answer is? It's easy. You can't just get someone to give up something they've been commuting their whole life to. I will get what I want, you know that? You're just delaying the inevitable. Viola made a mistake taking Fae, but hear me out: you and your pathetic Starter Squad are weak. No matter how many there are of you, you won't ever be able to defeat me, nor capture me. Au revoir, Starter Squad. I'll see you when I finally rule over the world."

The Darkrai then disappeared.

"What the fuck?! He just left us!" Rau exclaimed. "Oh well. Good luck in jail." Kiumbe remarked as he teleported away. Viola followed. "Why me," Rau grumbled as the Starter Squad arrested her.

Eon approached his sister with a horrified expression. "Are you okay? Did they hurt you?" He demanded as he reached over to check her out. Fae swatted away his paw. "I'm fine," she assured him with a nervous grin. "It just startled me is all." She remarked.

"Oh," Eon responded, smiling. "I'm just glad you're okay." His expression was nervous still. He seemed bothered by something. Fae shrugged it off. The Darkrai was nice enough to let her go.

But why did he let me go so easily? Was it pity? Did I say something to convince him to leave me alone? Or is there a bigger meaning behind it.

Fae shook her head. This encounter was just an encounter. Nothing more. The Darkrai didn't act all evil. He seemed more like a calm villain more than anything.

"Yeah. I'm great! Skliros didn't hurt me. He just accidentally kidnapped me." She explained.

"Accidentally?"

"Yeah. He told me that Viola kidnapped me. He had no intentions of doing that." She informed him. "Hmm, interesting." Eon remarks, putting a paw on his chin. "Anyways, we should probably go back now. We have things to do. You never got your ice cream! Let's forget about that Darkrai for now. He's not bothering anyone. Though it is odd he ran away. Usually he tries to kill someone or at least hurt someone. Guess he thought kidnapping you was enough of a crime already."

Fae nodded. She wanted her ice cream.

"Let's go!" She cheered in excitement, her tail wagging. Her brother laughs at her with a smile on his face. "Alright." He remarks as they walk back towards Poketown.

The rest of the night was a good one. Fae forgotten about the encounter with Skliros, however she still considered his words. Even if they were lies, she couldn't help but wonder if her brother did have special powers she didn't have. She can sometimes see him glancing off into the distance. Was something on his mind?

What would even be Eon's secret? Does he share this with everyone but me? Am I just not worthy of learning such knowledge?

It made Fae feel depressed about it. She wanted her brother to entrust her with what he knows, but he only wants her to train. Maybe she could talk to him about it later.

For now, though, Fae focused on the ice cream in front of her. It was delicious. She just wish she could have more than a scoop of it. However, it still left a bad taste in her mouth. Not knowing everything really bothered her. She wondered how anyone could keep a secret knowing that the secret could ruin things.

Fae noticed her family and her friends sticking a little closer to her out of the corner of her eye. She must've really worried them when she was kidnapped. It was a pretty silent capture that's for sure! Viola was a surprisingly silent Pokémon.

"Hey, Fae," Eon remarks. Fae turns to the scarfed Umbreon. "What is it?" She implores as she picks up another spoonful of the melting treat. The Umbreon glances away. He grit his teeth with frustration. "I would like it if you could have another Pokémon with you at all times." He told her.

Fae's eyes widened with disbelief. A Pokémon with her at all times? Fae knew she got kidnapped, but wasn't that a bit much? I have mastered moves! I can defend myself surely.

"But I can fight for myself now," she explained. Eon sighed, rubbing his eyes with a paw. "I know that—However you still don't completely know the world outside your own home. Plus who knows how good of a fighter you'll actually be. You didn't seem to fight back against that Gothita who kidnapped you. I could have lost you." Eon reaches a paw out to gently touch the top of her head.

"..."

That's because I was never given the chance. I thought she was a good Pokémon. Unlike others who seem to attack each other for naught. I wanted to give her the chance that she deserved. Plus, she didn't give off creepy vibes until she made that comment.

Fae shoved her brother's paw off of her head. She was irritated. Mostly with herself. "I couldn't fight back against a Pokémon using hypnosis can I? That Gothita used her mind to make me fall asleep, not her body. I can protect myself if I'm expecting an attack!" Fae protested.

Eon chuckled. "Yes you can, but I haven't seen you use the moves much. You need to be smarter about being out here, Fae. Not every Pokémon is going to want to hold paws with you and be friends." He informed her wisely.

Fae huffed. But not every Pokémon easily shows whether their sinister or not! It's unfair to see someone for who they truly are until they show it! So unfair! Fae bit her cheeks.

"Im trying!" She exclaimed. Eon shook his head. "It's not enough. Im going to ask Paarthurnax. I think this isn't working out well enough. We can still find a way to teach you how to fight, but the way you act is something entirely different. You might just have to not trust someone and be prepared to hurt them if they decide to hurt you."

Eon stood up.

"You finish your ice cream. I'm going to speak with him right now." The Umbreon then left Fae. She still had slight anger in her eyes.

"I can defend myself!" She huffed indignantly.

Neri chuckled. "Of course. Eon just wants the best for you. He thinks this will help." The female Umbreon commented.

Fae turned to her sister. "Do you think this will help?" She asked Neri.

Neri froze.

She shrugged. "Beats me. I want what's best for you as well. However, unlike Eon I believe us ladies can handle ourselves just fine." Fae nodded. "I just wish that he believed in me."

Neri looks away. "I know he believes in you, trust me, however you are definitely more vulnerable. You don't know your brother's life." She informed the shiny.

Fae looked at the ground in sadness.

That's right. I know nothing about his past. Maybe this is for the best, however I don't want him to give up on me so easily.

"Yeah, I know nothing about Eon. Do you know anything about him?" She asks the female Umbreon. The female Umbreon smiled slightly, but seemed upset as well. "Well, I do know something about Eon. I don't know everything about his life but I know he's helped the squad save the world. I also know Eon really likes that Churro fellow. He seems a little too intense to me, but he seems to enjoy his company despite his grumpiness. Though besides that I'm afraid I don't know much. I certainly didn't know he had a special fifth move."

I wish I had a fifth move...well a fifth sense to sense who I am up to face.

Fae sighed.

"Do you know why he's so tense right now?" She asked the Umbreon.

Neri shook her head. "His odd behavior is something new to me. It's like he's living his life two ways: the way he wants others to see it and the way he truly sees it and knows it. Only question is why he's trying to deny the truth. I think our brother is hiding something. I don't think it's bad. I just think he might be putting on a front."

With that Neri stood up. "Come on," she said to her sister. She indicated with her tail for her follow. "We better get back. It's already dark out."
