Chapter Twenty-Three
The five adventuring Pokémon walked out of the Starter Squad. Fae thought she could hear some Pokémon within the squad sigh for whatever reason, but she pushed that aside as she and her team followed the road.
Where would they go now?
The road stretched out. They seemed to be following a path that had a red sort of paving. This was taking them away from the forest and further away from the life Fae had known. She would be reborn, and she would make her mother proud.
She just wished her father was around to see her become a star. She was sure he would be happy to see her doing well. She had already mastered moves and learned new ones. She also became braver. What more did she need?
A little education on her part was all she needed to get going. And now? They were well on their way to their very first adventure.
"Hey, Eon?" She began in excitement. She felt light. Her brother looked at her with a gentle smile on his face.
"Yeah?" He responded.
He was very kind to come all this way to help her. Not only that, but put aside practically everything for her and the family. It felt like he was making up for lost time—which he probably was.
Fae was very grateful for the chance at a new life. This new life would definitely be darker than what she was used to, but she was sure she would make it out there.
Who knows, maybe some day I'll join the Starter Squad. They sure do accept all different sorts of folk. I'm sure they'd love having another helpful paw. I enjoy helping others. I want to be more like my younger brother. He seems cool. Fae thought with determination.
"Where are we going next?" She requested, wanting to know why he chose this way for them to trek instead of near the forest.
"Well, I was thinking we could go someplace none of us ever went to. Since Fae is being chased down by a dangerous Luxray and human, I feel like being further away from them makes sense. They're both very dangerous and very powerful. Who knows what kind of powers the Luxray could have now." Eon remarked.
Eon seemed to know a lot about this human and Luxray. It was quite shocking to see him trying to keep them away from the danger. He seemed pretty lax.
"But where would we go? Do you even have any plans?" Mauve inquires, annoyance clear in her blind gaze. She was shifting her purple paws. They had stopped briefly. Mauve wasn't exactly the most patient Eeveelution out there.
Eon sighed, his ears falling. "No," he answers truthfully. "I do not know where we should even go. We can always travel and go into mystery dungeons and find treasure, however I don't know how willing Fae here is. She wants to go on an adventure with us, but I don't know what exactly needs to be done in order to give her the proper adventure she deserves." Eon explains.
"Well, we can always start with walking forward," Fergus explained as he pointed with his left paw towards the extended red path that seemed to stretch out for miles.
Fae craned her neck. "Do we even know what's out there?" She wonders, knowing well that anything she knew was very little. She knew what was out there could be anything and anything could mean trouble and danger.
Eon shrugged. "I've been out there a few times myself. I remember that's where I came from. My family—er human family lived that way. Who knows, they might be willing to help us." Eon remarked with a flinching gaze that stuck to the ground. He swallowed as he looked back up. "Anyways, it's not close, so we should probably stay away from the humans."
Fae nodded. Humans can be good like her brother's family from what she knows so far, but one of the few humans she knew wasn't the greatest person. He seemed to be only after power, and Fae thought that made him a barbarian.
"Well, let's not stand any longer. Don't want to become a statue now, do we?" Eon joked as he lightly elbowed Neri who snorted. Thusly, the five adventuring Eeveelutions and Eevee made their way down the red path that stuck out before them.
Fae thought everything was going well. Well, it was, until it didn't. The human and his Luxray would be the last of their problems right now. A group of annoying bandits jumped right in front of them.
"Stop where you stand!" A Fuecoco shouted as a Totodile squealed in his excitement. These two weren't the only two bandits attacking them, however. Three other Pokémon were surrounding them.
A Leavanny was beginning to set up String Shots around them with a smirk on his face. "Don't want them to get away from us. Who knows what would happen if such Pokémon escaped. At least you have me to stop them. I'm super effective against three of them!" The leavanny bragged with the smirk still plastered on his face.
Mauve growled in anger as she began to struggle, while the rest either couldn't—mostly because Fergus was immobile without his wheelchair as well as his paws being trapped, or were calmer. Fae felt oddly calm in such a situation.
The older shiny felt like these criminals they were coming into contact with were definitely a force to be reckoned with—however, they were boastful; although it was a rightful boastful nature of theirs.
"What do you want from us?" Neri wondered as she didn't lose sight of the five Pokémon.
A Minior chuckled at the Umbreon's outrage. "That's cute," they remarked with a crazed look in their eyes. "You don't know what we want? Humph! Guess we better educate them, huh, Zilla?" The Minior asked as a Clobbopus cracked her knuckles in preparation.
The crab then nodded, using Power Up Punch on Neri, making her cry out in pain. "O'course, Denali. These heres weirdoes be walking near our territory. We deserve a little reward, ya see." Zilla responded as she rubbed her fists together.
"So you want, money?" Fae questioned. Why would they stop them and start harassing them for money? "Exactly! She gets it guys! So will you give it to us? We've been struggling an awful lot lately," the Totodile remarked in excitement. A a paw came his way and slapped him.
"Shut up! There is no easy way out of this, you annoying shitface! Now, Eevee and Eeveelutions. Listen carefully. If you want to live I suggest you do what we tell you and don't try anything, you hear?" The Fuecoco snarled as she breathed smoke out of her nostrils. She was red and had a skull on her face. She kind of reminded Fae of a Cubone, but a fire type.
She never seen any Pokémon like her before. Or at least no Fuecoco within the squad was this aggressive. They were all very nice and very sweet. The one she met was also a male. In fact, he kind of reminded Fae of the Totodile villain in front of her.
The Totodile was humming a tune while standing right next to the Fuecoco. "Understood, but what do you fellows want from us? Your Totodile pal over there said money would do nicely." Eon wonders.
The Fuecoco uses Ember in Eon's face. Thankfully, his eyes were intact. However, Eon's face got burned and he cried out slightly in pain. He didn't seem angry about it, though. He just seemed curious.
"Quiet down, annoying Eeveelution! I'll do all the talking." The Fuecoco snarled. She made herself menacing, and stood up tall and confident on her feet.
Satisfied once no one made a sound, the Fuecoco kicked Mauve who was struggling. "Stop moving, blindie, or do you want a nasty taste of my Ember attack?" She demanded as she slowly continued her way.
Chuckling, she beamed. "Good work, guys. We got ourselves a sorry bunch of Eeveelutions. Everyone knows to stay out of our terf, so I wanna know: why are you here?"
Neri frowned, yet no one said a thing.
"Speak to me! I'm talking to you. Are you deaf?!" The crocodile snarled, kicking Fae's forehead. She exclaimed with pain, wanting to reach up and rub the area that was hit to make it stop hurting.
But you were the one who wanted us to shut up in the first place.
Neri and Mauve glared at the female crocodile Pokémon. "What do you want us to say? We're just travelers looking for a destination." Fergus informed her with as much of a shrug as he could manage. The cobwebs they were trapped in flexed as Fergus moved within them.
The Fuecoco stared at them. She didn't appear satisfied with that. She lifted a paw and moved a finger. "Grab 'em. We'll bring them back to the hideout." She growled.
"But—" the Totodile began before she punched him in the face, and he backed up fearfully, squealing slightly. "Do not disobey me." She snarled slowly. The Totodile only nodded in disbelief. "O-okay," he stuttered.
With that the four Eeveelutions and Eevee were being picked up and carried over to a desert nearby. Fae couldn't help but notice a small blush on the alligator's face as he lifted up both Eon and Neri.
