Chapter Twenty-Two
Today's the day! Fae jolted up with excitement, her tail swishing to and fro as she bounced out of bed—she actually fell. She sprinted to the door of the Normal type modeled room, and thrusted the door wide open.
A Chansey stopped in shock at her outburst. "Today's the day!" She cheerfully told the healer pokemon. The Chansey smiled warmly at her. "Today's the day, eh? Well, I'm going to miss our lovely chats. It's been a wonderful month with you here, Fae. You're a good Vee. It's too bad Paarthurnax doesn't let Eevee join the squad like with Pikachu...but hey, that's not what you were here for anyways." The Chansey remarked as she held out an egg to Fae.
Fae took it gratefully. "Thank you! I'll miss you too. It's been fun here! You guys are a real blast!" The Chansey flushed. She waved her off. "Oh stop it." She then giggled.
"Anyways, I hope you well on whatever adventure you decide to take." The Chansey commended. Fae smiled brightly, glowing with happiness. "Thank you! And I wish you well with the job. It sure seems hard to help others heal. You must be a real pro!" Fae complimented. The Chansey grinned. "Well, I'm the best in the business after all. Well, after Audino of course." Chansey remarked praisingly.
After that, the two parted ways with only a goodbye and Fae walked down the hallway approaching the left side of the center of the Headquarters. She and her family had been separated based on their typing. This greatly confused Fae. Why would someone need to be separated based on their type. She found that awfully racist for a squad who seemed willing to help those in need.
The middle of the Squad wasn't nearly as popping in the morning as it was in the middle of the day. She assumed most members were on missions or just sleeping still. Oddly enough, she found that unprofessional of a place to help others. It was like they prioritized themselves over others and glorified their own name above all else.
Fae approached a shiny Charmander who was talking to a shiny Cyndaquil; the fire-mouse pokemon seemed to be blushing shyly. "Good morning, Vesuvius!" She greeted the Charmander.
The yellow lizard spun around. His friend jumped in shock and fear. "Oh goodness! You spooked me, Evolution Pokemon." The white Cyndaquil remarked oddly. He was definitely a timid Pokemon. Quite unlike the other Cyndaquil even half his age.
The lizard smiled widely and friendly. "Good morning, Fae. How'd you sleep?" The Charmander questions her with his tail blazing brighter in anticipation.
Fae grinned.
"I slept well. Today's the day!" She brightly cheered, throwing her paws carelessly in the air.
The shiny Charmander's eyes widened. "That's right. Today's the day!" Vesuvius exclaimed in equal excitement as the white Eevee. The whitish Cyndaquil nearby seemed confused.
"Today's the day?" He questioned. "Today's what day? It's Thursday." He informed. The shiny Charmander nodded. "Yes, that's right. It is Thursday; but today, newbie, is a very special day for our Eevee friend right here." Vesuvius remarked as he pointed with both of his paws towards Fae.
She puffed out her chest. It was surely going to be a good day indeed.
The shiny Cyndaquil was still confused. A shiny Torchic approached them with a giddy smile on her face. "Toka, that's the shiny Eevee that's been here. She's been training to go on an adventure, and today she can finally leave to go on it. She was a pretty pathetic Pokemon when she got here," the shiny Torchic informed.
Fae deadpanned. She wasn't really that weak was she? She was strong! She had her mother's blood. She wasn't pathetic!
The shiny Torchic gasped in realization. "I'm so sorry, Fae! I didn't mean—" Fae roughly shoved a paw in her face to halt her speaking. "Let's not talk about it. I've learned moves. I'm no longer quote on quote 'a pathetic Pokemon.' Anyways, who is this, Cearc?"
The shiny Torchic looked from Toka to Fae deadpanned. She had already told his name.
She cleared her throat dramatically. "Oh, yes. This scardey-chu is called Toka. Do be careful when talking to him. He's pretty shy and I'm afraid he gets terrified when speaking to new Pokémon he doesn't know."
Toka shivered as he stared at Fae. "Nice to meet you..." he said shakily. He didn't seem pleased to meet someone new. The Cyndaquil still offered her his paw, though, and seemed slightly better when she shook his paw in a friendly manor.
"It's nice to meet you too, Toka. Have you always been in the starter squad? I've never seen you before, and I've seen practically everyone." Fae noted.
The shiny Cyndaquil nervously twitched his paws, finding comfort in them. "I-I'm new to the squad." The fire type responded, glancing at the shiny Charmander next to him. Vesuvius gave him a thumbs up. "Vesuvius offered me a spot on his fire team. I took it...after some consideration..." the Cyndaquil trailed off, eyes widening as he realized Fae didn't need this information.
"Anyways, yeah. I'm new. I'm hoping to become less like...this," He began and indicated towards his shaking feet. "And more like Vesuvius. He's far braver than I ever could be, though. I don't know if I can make it in such a place." The Cyndaquil remarked quietly.
"Ah, you'll do fine. Fae did. You can do anything you put your mind to, Buddy." Vesuvius assured Toka. Toka nodded unsurely. "Perhaps." He simply commented.
"Do you know where Eon and the rest of my family is?" Fae asked Vesuvius. The shiny Charmander nodded. "They're over there talking to Pip. Can you stay for a bit longer, though? There's two other fire types you absolutely have to meet. They're also on my team." With that, the yellow lizard put his paws to the edge of his mouth and began to call for two Pokémon.
"Barium! Radon!"
Fae was confused. Two Pokémon with names relating to scientific elements? Who named them such ridiculous names?
At the call of their names, a Tepig and a Litten came bounding over with the Litten excitedly racing over towards Vesuvius, while the Tepig quietly approached with caution and fear. "What it is, Volcano? Has Paarthurnax given us another mission? Hope it's not in water." The Litten meowed with excitement. Her tail briefly swished before she straightened up.
The Tepig stopped besides her, glancing over at her with a small, yet unsure smile on his face. "Yeah, what's up? Why did you call us over here?" The Tepig's gaze trialed towards Fae. Suspiciously he asked, "Who's that?" His eyes narrowed.
The Litten's face was expressionless as her red eyes followed her friend's. "Oh," she remarked. She seemed slightly disappointed. "Damn it. Sorry, it's not that I'm not glad to meet you, however, I was hoping for a mission." She remarked.
The Litten glanced around the area briefly before looking at Vesuvius. "This is what you wanted us for, right? To meet your friend. He sure has been talking a lot about you. He mentioned some kind of special ability? Do you think you can show us?" The Litten wondered.
"I could later. Who's who now?" Fae wondered.
Vesuvius cleared his throat. "Right. The Litten is Radon and the Tepig is Barium. They're a part of the fire team. However, ever since the sun came back we don't really have any missions that last too long." The yellow lizard informed.
"Oh? These are the two Pokémon who rescued the sun?" Fae wondered. She remembered when the sun was gone. It was cold and she thought they would all die that day.
However, all she and her family did was stay inside. Her mother absolutely wouldn't let anyone go outside and wouldn't let Ezekiel or anyone else go help get the sun back. Fae sure was glad the sun was back. It was here to warn her fur and it wasn't cold.
Fae hated the cold.
If she were to evolve she hoped she evolved into a Flareon like her father. She didn't want to become a Vaporeon or Glaceon—no offense to Mauve. Vaporeon was still pretty cool.
Vesuvius nodded. "Yeah. I just thought you would like to meet them before you have to go."
A paw tapped Fae on her back. "Hey, we're about ready to go. How about you? Done saying your goodbyes yet?" Eon asked her calmly. Fae shook her head. "Not yet. Still need to say goodbye—"
Eon interrupted her. "Ah yes. You still would like to say goodbye to Hericius, right?"
Fae nodded. "I'm at least hoping we can stay in touch somehow." She remarked. "We can still stay in touch. You know where the squad is, and you can certainly keep in touch with us." A voice behind them stated.
Toka exclaimed in surprise and fear, shying away from the noise and hiding behind Cearc. The yellow-and-red Torchic gave a quick affectionate glance over at her friend, and sighed.
"Hericius!" Fae exclaimed in surprise and joy. She ran over to the shiny Chespin and hugged her tight. The chestnut chuckled. "I've been looking all over for you. Didn't want you to leave me without saying goodbye." The brown chespin wrapped a paw around her and squeezed.
"I'm going to miss you so much!" The shiny squealed before handing her a piece of paper. Fae grabbed it with a paw and read the address. "Alright, thanks! If I get a chance to I'll make sure to write to you." Fae promised with an uncertain smile.
Do the wild areas have an address?
Hericius released the hug, and Eon approached her. "Time to go," is all he said and he turned around and the two walked back over to their family while Fae's new friends waved goodbye.
