Chapter Seven

Kathreen didn't know if her eyes were open, or closed. Either way the eerie darkness surrounded her. She felt each move, each jutted rock that Twilight stepped on.

"Twi?" Kathreen mumbled.

"Yes?"

"What time is it? Is it nighttime? Daytime? Inbetween?"

"We're too far down in the tunnels to tell. I'm sorry. " The shadow answered.

"There's no need to be." The blind girl sighed. "What did you do that made you 'evil'?"

Twilight stopped. Dead silence followed. Then, Kat felt a warm trickle of liquid on Twi's neck, where she was holding on.

"What's the matter Twi?"

Twilight's voice turned emotionless. Her eyes slitted although Kathreen could not see that.

"Never. I will never tell you Kathreen. It's not that I don't trust you, it's just the memories are too much to bear."

Kathreen noted that it sounded as if the shadow was talking through clenched teeth. Then, Twi started to walk again, as if nothing had been said.

How is it she can mask the pain so well?

Twi heard the solemn thought. And silently she answered.

Because when I was alive, it's all I was used to. Lies, masks, everything. And I had to make it in order for me to live.

"How many people did you write about?!" Stargazer looked as if she was going to go insane.

The noon light cast awkward shadows across the floor, and Stargazer was staring at them as if they were alive. Jagged shapes here and there, sharp points, rounded ones.

"Well, let's see. Kaden, Kathreen, mistress Sharp, Mr. Harrison, a and a few other kids at the orphanage. Along with people I saw walking on the streets."

"Great. That is fantastic." Stargazer muttered sarcastically.

She started to pace again, her hooves making clip-clop sounds on the tiled floor. She was obviously in deep thought. But the pacing was starting to make Seirra uneasy.

"Stargazer, would you please stop paci-"

Seirra was cut short as the midnight blue horse turned to her.

"Did you create a character after yourself?"

"Yes. I did. Is there a problem?" Seirra asked worryingly.

"Give me their name, age, what they look like, just everything about them!" Stargazer demanded.

"Okay, so her name was something like Twilight, or Dawn. She wasn't really a human, but she could've passed for one. I didn't really base her off of how I acted, but more of how I felt."

The horse stopped prancing for a few moments.

But, Dawn was killed. She couldn't have been the reason Seirra was summoned here as well. That character is dead, she 'fell' off a cliff after all. So for Seirra, it must be Asadior. I think thought maybe I could piece together some of this horrible maze.

"Oh. Thanks. That helped a little bit."

Star sat down, looking out the window. She snorted a sad snort. Before getting up again.

"We've been in here for a while Seirra. Let's go, the others must be wondering where we are."

"What others?"

"The guests. I invited them for a feast." The horse paused, "Come on. The Queen should not be late for her own feast, should she?"

"I suppose not."

Seirra forgot for a moment she had changed into different clothes, going to her wardrobe, she grabbed a disc. Almost putting it on, before realizing she already had a teal disk on. She was dressed (her disk) with a pair of chocolate colored pants, and a dark teal shirt with a sash on. On her head there was a circlet with a crescent moon on it, it was also the same teal as her shirt.

The crescent moon stood as a sign of the good, and gave the hopeless hope.

Walking down the white marble stairs, she entered into the main hall, and into the courtyard. Shundeays lined the walls of the ever going wall. A fountain was in the middle, a horse at the top, the water as it's tail. Looking into the horses emerald eyes, cold blue ones met hers instead.

Asadior was leading a pack of the kingswolves up the mountain. They had caught onto a faint scent of Kathreen. Maybe a day or two old. Now they were climbing a steep mountain trail. Coming to the top of the sand colored rock, something like a cave was there. In the middle of this area was a big hole, big enough to get the kingswolves down.

As soon as they got into the cave, the girl's scent was stronger. The wolves were howling and barking, but Asadior was looking around.

Enots. Of course. The hardened slime corrupted the signal between the shadow and it's master.

"Go!" He bellowed.

The kingswolves let out another howl and bounded into the dark tunnel. Asadior following close behind. Running with the wolves and trusting them. After they had been running for a bit, the wolves veered to the right. They ran for a few seconds before the wolves disappeared and seven splashes were heard.

Asadior stopped running and slid to a halt, before the one wolf behind him barreled into his back. He grabbed a rock jutting out from the roof of the tunnel.

White pain blinded him, his back felt as if it were on fire, but then it stopped. But he had stopped himself, and the last kingswolf.

Painfully stumbling back to the main tunnel, he followed it until he came out into a giant cave. A black pool of marbled water stretched from one side to the other, about a half mile wide.

Poisoned Xol. The tsaeb lives there. That's where he wolves fell..

Asadior was going to keep moving, but his back was telling him otherwise.

"Come on boy. We stay here for the night."

The giant wolf was staring wide eyed around the cave, his sharp fangs showing, but whining none the less. His tail tucked.I

"Don't be afraid." Asadior said more kind, it was obviously against his nature.

The wolf looked at him inquisitively. Tilting its pure black head to one side, its blue eyes warm and welcoming, but at the same time sharp, and ready.

Asadior ruffled his fur, it's heat making him feel less lonely. Not that it mattered though. Laying down on the cold hard ground, he felt the majestic creature curl around him. It's grey muzzle resting on the cave floor.

Kathreen heard a howl, it was very far away, yet the echo still reached them. It was very eerie and empty feeling, almost emotionless. Twilight stopped.

"Kingswolves." She murmured before picking up her pace.

"Kingswolves? What are those?"

"Huge wolves, bred by darkness itself. I had one, its name was Bear. But he's probably dead. He was the best friend I had. He wasn't evil like everyone else he was good.

"I'm sorry about that." Kathreen sympathized.

"I don't need your sympathy. I just need your empathy." Twi said bluntly.

"What do they normally look like?" Kathreen spoke, changing the subject.

"Black as night. Green eyes. But my Bear had a grey muzzle, and blue eyes." Twilight said as if he was still here.I

"I bet you miss him."

"By the three suns I do."

The brown eyed girl stared at the blue eyes. Something seemed very familiar about those, the little tint of grey.

Then, the horse glimmered. A tiger with black fur and blue stripes jumped down. A halo of white light around her.

But, how?! What sorcery is this?

"Hello Seirra. It's nice to see you after all these years."

"Dyn?" Seirra almost started to cry. The tiger that had saved her so long ago.

"Yes. Now, listen carefully."

Seirra nodded her head in understanding, making sure she was more aware now.

"Nobody dies. We either become shadow or light. The numbers in shadow are growing. At this meeting of the Kascia leaders, tell them that. And tell them about Twilight."

"Alright? And who's Twilight?"

"Oh. Just call her Dawn."

Oh! Her!

Before Seirra even got to say goodbye, Dyn's pelt floated away in pieces, her ice blue eyes remaining for a few seconds before disappearing too.

Ms. Sharp looked out her window. The cold November London ignoring her worrisome thoughts. It had been so long, too long.

If only I'd been a better mother. Maybe this wouldn't have happened. Maybe I'd still have my child.

Maybe I'd still have Asher. And maybe I'd still have my husband too.

Maybe Asher wouldn't have turned evil if I was there for him all the time. In a land so, so far away.

Too far away and put of reach for me.
