Chapter 26

Here it is, chapter 26! Hope you enjoy it!

Freddy stepped out of the cage first, Flasheart just behind his left as the others (wearing thier masks) followed behind, facing the captain and the soldiers. Freddy was speechless, totally unsure what to say, with an unsure expression on his face. "What are you doing?" Flasheart asked for him, which he looked leftwards then ahead again and nodded in agreement. "Helping you. Hotspur disregarded one of our most sacred values. And he's endangering your planet for no real reason. So we're helping you bring him down." Garth replied as he held out his right hand, his pistol in it as an offer, the others soldiers also offering small and bigger guns to the others. Freddy glared at the gun for a moment before he slowly moved his right hand over towards it, let it hover over the gun for a few seconds before he grasped the metal and took it off Garth's hand. He looked at Garth then smiled, who smiled back. Flasheart then took a step forwards and took in his hands the big gun offered to him, then turned around rightwards to face the others with a wide smile. "Let's do this." He spoke as the others mostly shrugged then took the offered guns, Harry and Sara big guns, Jai and Paul taking smaller guns.

Harry then looked at Jai, Sara and Paul cautiously. "Uh, maybe you civilians should stay here. We don't know what to expect. You might get hurt. And just running around the ship guns blazing isn't a good strategy." He said to the others, who looked back at him as if he had two heads. "You may be the soldier here, Captain Harry, but we've come this far. And if we get hurt, so what? People down there are counting on us. Besides it's the right thing to do. Morally, not strategically." Paul replied. "You know what? That's pretty much what we're going to do." Freddy spoke, making everyone look at him. "Well... if you think about it, the longer we stay in here, the more Hotspur has to prepare." He said before he cleared his throat as he looked at Garth. "Where's Hotspur?" He asked the captain. "He fled the chamber with Ric and several other clones, whilst some chose to join us after your words. My crew are trying to find them. I'm getting reports that some of his loyalists are prowling around the ship." Garth replied. Freddy looked downwards for a moment as he came up with a plan. "Ok. Here's what we do. We'll go to the bridge and try to disable the machines from there. We'll hold out there and stop any clones who try to stop us. And no killing! We shoot to injure." Freddy then ordered as he stared at the others. They then stared looking at one another until Flasheart shrugged. "You heard him! Let's go!" He exclaimed before they all run towards the door. They noticed that  there were yellow lights flashing in a circular movement on the roof. "Security alarms. Hotspur must have triggered them." Garth said as he poked his head out of the door and looked both ways. "Clear. Freddy, I'll lead you and the Fangen to the bridge, the rest, join the search." Garth spoke as he stepped out into the corridor and led Freddy and the others down the right hand side of the corridor whilst the other Weren that had been with them ran down the other side.

Freddy and Flasheart took the lead, running level with Garth as they ran down the corridor, the yellow rotating alarms adding an aura and level of tension to the environment. As they approached the leftwards bend, two Weren soldiers suddenly ran past the bend, heading towards them, guns raised. But before they could shoot, Freddy and Flasheart fired first, Freddy shooting the one on the left in the shoulder, Flasheart shooting the right soldier in the foot. They both fell down on the floor, dropping their guns as they let out a moan in pain, totally ignoring the group running past them and turning left to another corridor. After running down the corridor, they came upon an intersection, so Flasheart swiftly stood his back against the right hand side wall of the corridor they were in and waved out his left arm, indicating they should do the same. The others then stood against the wall on both sides. Sara (on the left hand side wall) then let out a loud exhale, which prompted Flasheart to put his left index finger by his muzzle, telling them all to be quiet. Silence then filled the corridor momentarily before they heard the sound of footsteps and then a shadow appeared on the on ground on the corridor on the left, Harry gripping his gun. The show grew bigger until a Weren soldier with his big gun held high and his guard up stepped into the centre of the intersection, then stopped in his tracks for a moment, then turned rightwards to face the others. A moment later, Sara moved out from the wall and thrusted herself at the soldier, dropping her gun. She grabbed the soldier's big gun with both hands and moved it upwards/rightwards just as the soldier pulled the trigger, letting off a blast that only went up to the ceiling, Harry and Jai ducking out of reaction. Sara then pulled the gun out of the soldiers hands, turned around so her body faced forwards and slammed her right elbow into the soldier then slammed her left foot into his left foot, making the soldier groan out in pain before she kicked the soldier down to the right side corner in the intersection the soldier hitting the wall then falling down onto the floor.

Sara smiled in pride as she took at the soldier then back at the others who stared at her with surprised expressions, whilst Freddy had a smile. "What? You thought this is my first time in a fix?" Sara asked back rhetorically as Flasheart chuckled before Garth speed out behind Flasheart and walked to the intersection and turned right. The others walked past him as Harry went past the soldier who was sitting with his back against the wall, looked at Harry with his big gun, then squirmed a bit out of fear, his tail wagging. Harry suddenly then remembered how he and men felt in the battle before they were captured. Suddenly the heat of rage surged through his veins as he growled and aimed his gun at the soldier. As he took a stepped forwards, and was about to shoot, Freddy then leaped out in front of him with his arms held out. "What are you doing?" He yelled at Harry. "These are the ones that attacked us! They killed my men!" Harry blurted out in anger, thought he had no idea of that. "You don't know." Freddy said back defiantly. "I have to do this! They need to bleed themselves!" Harry protested, moving his gun a bit before Freddy. "Is this what your men would've wanted?" Freddy asked him. "They wanted to live. They had families!" Harry exclaimed back. "Captain, if you do this, you'll justify everything that Hotspur sees and believes in humanity. Be better than that, be better than Hotspur." Freddy advised calmly. "I'm a soldier! It's my job to pull the trigger against the enemy!" Harry yelled back, then a moment later a grey furred hand grabbed the tip of his gun and Flasheart stepped in front him "You may be a soldier, but sometimes being a soldier involves bot always pulling the trigger. Even on those who are the enemy." Flasheart advised. Harry looked him in the eyes for a moment as his panting breathing and rigidness then lowered, before he then lowered the gun down more, letting Flasheart's hand slide off it as he smiled at Harry. Then they continued down the corridor, the soldiers letting out a loud sign of relief.

Down on Earth, back in Bristol, there was chaos. Snow was roaring down, the wind was roaring as it blew and the temperature was approaching below freezing. Visibility was near zero and the snow was getting higher by the minute. Cars were having trouble moving through the riding snow and the cold was starting to affect their engines and fuel. Many were forced to walk on foot. The thief who had attack Freddy and Sara earlier the day before walked at a snails pace down the pavement, wearing his stolen blue puffer coat, his head and upper body wrapped in an old blanket (which he had once stolen). He shivered as he came to a stop the wind blowing the snow down hard on him, the cold biting him no matter how hard he tried to ignore the chill of the wind, causing him to turn leftwards. As he looked ahead he faintly saw up ahead two figures moving a bit based on their silhouettes, and two people walk past them. He trundled along towards the men, the outline of a building appearing as he continued walking, seeing the two figures were holding snow shovels before a double doors. One of the figures (wearing a thick coat with the hood up in now google and scarf) turned to see him. "You lost?" Asked the male voice, shouting over the wind. The thief nodded frantically. The man gestured for him to come over, and then pointed with his left hand at the door behind him. The thief walked over and past the two, noticing the other was a woman, who were now taking shelter in the doorway until they had to shovel the entrance again, as the thief came up to the door. The woman they banged her shovel against the door, the door opening a moment later, revealing a black man in thick clothes. The thief didn't need to be told twice to whether was he stepped forwards into the building, the man closed the door behind him as fast as possible.

The man looked ahead to see himself in a hallway with several doors on the sides, but saw a light at the end, and several smells. The black man pointed his left arm out towards the end. "You'll find sustenance there." He spoke. The thief not looking back nor saying any thing as he felt the slight warmth of being in the building. He walked down the dark corridor and came up to the end to enter a large hall filled with quite a lot of people. He stepped forwards and walked among them as he looked around. The light was coming from a dozen portable lights scattered around, noticing they were connected to car batteries, as well as an electric heater and stove, also running on batteries. Some were family's, couples, on their own, off all ages. Some were helping others out, giving them soup heated by the stoves and water bottles. He stopped in his tracks when he saw a police officer standing a few feet away, besides a table with a radio, hearing the static come from it, the man operating it looking leftwards at the officer and shook his head, the officer then glanced at the thief so he looked away. The officer patted the radio man on the shoulder, telling him to keep trying as he stepped over towards the thief, who looked away, his body now facing the lamp on his left. The officer came up to the thief on his right. "You got stuck out there in the snow too, boy?" The officer asked him. The thief somehow felt like this officer was actually showing compassion towards, though he feared he might be recognised. But he then turned his head rightwards to face the officer. "Yeah." He said back. "Just like all these people." The officer replied. "Crazy day, huh?" The thief asked with a grin. "Yeah. Yesterday I was chasing down petty thief's, which seems pretty small compared to now. Turns out aliens are real. Wow." The officer said back with a chuckle, the thief was surprised that he was having a rather friendly conversation with the authorities. "You think we can survive this?" The thief asked, actually wanting to keep things flowing. "Humans have survived many things. The plague, World Wars, natural disasters. But today is different." The officer answered. "How so?" Asked the thief. "We're all facing this peril, feeling this suffering together, which means that... we're all humans today." The officer said back. And the thief knew then and there that he wasn't going to be arrested at that time.

And that's chapter 26 done! Hope you enjoyed it! Please leave a vote!

At first, I wanted the thief to only be a one scene thing, like a cameo, but then I thought about doing this scene a few times, until I finally decided to just do it anyway.
