Chapter 6
Here it is, chapter 6! Hope you enjoy it! At first, I wanted to do more, but then I ran out of time to do the rest of what I wanted, so I'll do that next chapter.
Freddy stood out in the garden, staring at the hedge wall, deep in thought. Sara was a couple of feet behind him, pacing back and forth. "I shouldn't be here. I'm stuck in a place for the dying, am carrying around a complete weirdo, and I'm most likely to be recognised!" Sara exclaimed as she kept pacing, before Freddy then shook his head, turned around leftwards and walked up to her, grabbing her upper arms with his hands. "Are you gonna assault me?" Sara asked quickly, in a panicked tone. "What? No! Look, I don't know how someone like you is going to understand this, but... I'm not from this world." Freddy spoke calmly. Sara stared at him for a moment before she bursted with laughter. "You, an alien? Let me guess, you're wearing a rubber human suit, and there a green alien underneath it?" Sara asked as she laughed, Freddy raising an eyebrow as she spoke, not exactly sure what she was talking about. "Uh... look, I'm telling you the truth!" "Well, clearly they don't have manners where you came from. Ohh, I'm an alien from space! I'm so rude and dumb!" Sara then spoke sarcastically as she waved her hands up with her fingers outstretched. "Are you okay?" Freddy asked her, a bit of nervousness from the way she talked. "Okay? I'm not feeling okay! I'm feeling crazy!" She laughed back as Freddy gave up and removed his hands and turned leftwards walked a few feet away. "Matron, we've got uninvited guests!" They heard a male voice speak as they both looked at the building door to see a 6 foot tall broad bodied man with thin black hair wearing blue nurse clothes on, his arms on his hips. A moment later, a 5 foot 2 woman with blonde hair wearing a white blouse, a black skirt and a cheap grey jacket, with a stick in her right hand, stepped up to him. "Can I help you two?" She asked in a Welsh accent, a stern look on her face.
"Uh..." Freddy spoke, unsure what to say, as Sara too at step forwards in be in front of him on his right. "We're visitors." She announced with a smile. "Really, because I don't remember you coming here before. Cecil, you seen these two before?" She asked the man on her left. "Nah." Cecil answered instantly, the matron stepped forwards slowly towards them. "All my infirm have been here for months, some have visitors just after arriving, some a week later. And so, with no new visitors for months, you two just pop up to visit someone for the first time?" The matron asked sternly as she came up to them, stopping just before them, giving them a look that could kill if it could. "We invited them!" Paul's voice suddenly spoke, making the matron, Sara look rightwards and Freddy look leftwards to see Paul come up to them, shuffling in small steps due to his condition. "You did?" Cecil asked as she stepped up to the matrons rear left. "Yes, Jai and I invited them. And for your information, nosy Cecil, we wanted a new face around here." Paul spoke, after glaring at Cecil. "Well, it's almost time for lunch. You two come with us." Matron spoke as she led Freddy, Sara and Cecil back into the building, Freddy smelling rot and dust around the place as he walked through, noticing the grime on the floors and the creaking floorboards as they went up the stairs, the matron leading them to a door with a paper push pinned marked "Matron's Office." She stepping in, Freddy following her as Cecil grabbed Sara's right upper arm, looking at her suspiciously. "Have I seen you somewhere before?" He asked her softly. "No, i think I'd remember meeting someone like you." She said back as he released his grip and she went in, Cecil standing still for a second before stepping into the office and closing the door behind them.
Inside the office, Freddy and Sara noticed several paintings on the walls and a thick wooden desk which the matron sat at, placing the stick on the table in front of her. "At bit luxurious for this profession." Sara observed. "The spoils of success." The matron spoke, but her facial expression didn't exactly seem honest. "Now, to get to the point, you are here because Paul and Jai invited you?" Matron asked, as she twiddled a pen in her fingers. "Yes. We both knew them from past experiences, so when they remembered us, they got in touch with us." Sara lied, Freddy nodding in agreement. "They got in touch with you, by phone, or by letter?" The matron asked as she pulled out a book from the drawer and began looking through it. "Paul called us. Why?" Sara asked as the matron looked on the last filled page and looked up at them. "Because that 'call' doesn't seem to be on the phone records I keep." The matron spoke as she held her hand together. "Actually, they got in touch by letter!" Freddy cried out, not entirely understanding the communication methods, but still trying to play along. The matron narrowed her eyes and stood up with her arms outstretched to the sides of the table, looking dead at them. "Jai and Paul didn't invite you, didn't they? So who did? The police? Did someone report to them that I've been using government funding for my own needs? Opps!" She gasped as she realised what she'd just said, placing her left hand over her mouth as Cecil groaned from behind them.
Freddy and Sara stood still for a moment before they turned their heads (Freddy leftwards, Sara rightwards) and looked at each other. "Let's get out of here!" They both said to each other as they both turned around, but as they took a step forwards they stood to see Cecil standing in front of the door, his left arm outwards onto the door, holding a piece of paper in front of his face in his right hand, a grin growing. "I thought I'd seen you before, girly." He sneered as the matron came up to his left hand side, her stick held tight in her right hand, and he handed to paper to her. "She's wanted by the police, matron. She's a thief." Cecil declared as the matron looked a the paper and them up at the two. "Seize them!" She ordered. Cecil then moved forwards as quick as the wind, as Freddy and Sara tried moving left and right, trying to get away from him, but Cecil grabbed Freddy with his right hand by his tail, causing him to yell out in pain, and with his left hand, grabbed the back of Sara's shirt and pulled her back a foot, despite her protest movements and yells he was surprisingly stronger than he looked as he pulled Freddy back as by by his tail and as they came came upon him he released his grips but before they could react, he wrapped his arms around their throats, being sure to be loose enough to let them breathe, and holding them just on the tips of their toes. They both struggled, their hands on his arms as he grinned in triumph, the matron walking around on his left and stood in front of them, banging her stick in her left hand. "Lock her in one of the rooms! I'll call the police for her! Put him in the basement! Starve him!" She ordered, Cecil nodding as she went past him as he turned around leftwards and opened the door for him as she picked up a set of keys from her pocket. They stopped at one of the doors, Cecil pushing the door open with his left foot and threw Sara inside, who fell onto the floor, the matron instantly slamming the door and locking it. Knocking sounds thumped from the door a moment later. The matron led Cecil and Freddy down the stairs and they came upon the waste chute and she pulled it open. "If there is a ghost or monster down there, Freddy will be a fine meal! A change from food waste, thought it doesn't complain." The matron before Cecil held Freddy up with both hands, aligned him with the chute, whilst ignoring his whimpers and protests and fear, he then shoved him down the chute. Freddy screamed as he was plunged into the darkness of the chute, but suddenly his eyes quickly adjusted, the darkness brightening up enough for him to see clearly, feeling the metal on his body as he fell and a moment later, he fell into a pile waste bags and vegetable cuttings.
And that's chapter 6! Hope youenjoyed it! The bad matron thing, I got the idea from the David Walliams book "Grandpa's Great Escape". And Cecil is based on the Cerberus character from the "100% Wolf" book and movie. Surprise coming the next chapter!
