Chapter 7
Here it is, chapter 7! Hope you enjoy it! I mostly got the inspiration for this chapter based on the book.
Freddy felt around him by his arms and body, feeling the carrot and broccoli waste on the floor. He looked ahead to see darkness, the only light being a small grate in the roof, but it wasn't much help at the moment, but as his eyes adjusted, he saw something across the room. He could make out several shapes in the darkness. He suddenly heard sounds coming from the other side of the room, the sounds of heavy breathing, followed by a moan. Then he saw in the darkness movement, along with the sounds of metal clattering. His breathing increased as he then heard a dull thump impact the brick floor, like a footstep, gulping in fear as he took a step back, remembering the strange stuff Paul had told him earlier and turned around left and and came upon the waste shaft end and stood in front of it, placed his left hand in the top left edge, bent his right leg and then brought his left up, kneeling on the shaft as he held his arms out in front of him as he then tried to climb up the shaft, but just two footsteps forwards, his feet slipped on the metal, causing him to fall down onto his stomach with a yell as he fell down the shaft again, falling out the end and into the pile, the force of landing sending him more forwards this time, lying on his back.
He lied there for a second or two dazed with his eyes closed before he opened them wide as he felt more sounds coming from in front of him, moving his eyes upwards to see the movement once more but a bit closer, this time hearing the sounds of metallic chains rattling. "By the light of the moon." He muttered (saying a common thing they said where he came from) out in fear as he rolled over rightwards onto his side as he continued to look into the dark. "By the light of the moon?" He heard a voice come from in front of him, like a question, seeing the movement once again. "Are in front of me, or around me, g-g-ghost?" He squeaked, summoning all the bravery he could. "A phantom?" The voice spoke. "Yeah, if that's what you or the fangens call you, then yeah." Freddy said back, a bit of the fear subsiding. "What do you want?" Freddy asked, hoping to get a conversation going. "What do I want?" The voice asked. "Yeah." Freddy answered. "I want to get out." The voice spoke. "Out? Out of where?" Freddy asked. "Out of here!" The voice spoke a bit louder, as if it were obvious. "Why? So you can haunt me and everyone on this planet?" Freddy asked, his courage increasing due to the lack of violence. "Haunt you? I don't even know you." The voice spoke as the noises of chains rattling, footsteps thumping increased as Freddy saw in the darkness movement that was heading in his direction, before he saw an outline growing bigger and bigger every second, until in the small light from the grate, came a creature with grey fur, long snout with a nose, pointy ears, three fingers on it hands and purple eyes, walked across the ground on all fours, a tail wagging slightly behind it, chains flowing from its hands, connect by silver metal rings, a rubber tube flowing out of its right arm, wearing a rippled black tunic. "Oh, um, you look very alive to me." Freddy blurted out out as he got a good look at the creature. "Why you say this to me?" The creature asked as it narrowed its eyes in confusion. "Oh, sorry, the fangen who live here told me the sounds I guess you were making were being made by maybe a ghost, or a phantom or whatever you call it." Freddy explained. The creature looked dead straight at Freddy before it smiled. "Well, then you're a brave one, coming down here to look for yourself." The creature guessed. Freddy looked down for a second before looking up at the creature again, his face beaming up. "Um, yes, yes, I did!" Freddy spoke with a smile, his ego doing the talking, seizing this opportunity to look good and smarter than he really was. "Hm, you look like you're from around here, but you seem to understand Weren." The creature replied. "Weren? You know Weren too?" Freddy asked, reasoning now he had been talking from the language the people here spoke to Weren, the language of where he'd come from. He could barely felt he had, as if his brain somehow knew both languages. He'd heard that the brain was a complicated thing, even where he'd come from.
He then looked at the creature again, looking up and down, noticing on it right hand was an intricate golden ring with a massive sky blue crystal on it. "Wait that ring!" Freddy exclaimed as he grabbed the creature hand and held it up before him, instantly recognised it was the long lost sacred ring he was sent to this planet in the first place to get. "The Ring of the Moon!" He exclaimed, as the creature narrowed its eyes and drew its hand back. "How do you know about that?" The creature asked.
"Never mind that! Why do you have it? How did you steal it from the Weren all those years ago?" Freddy snapped back angrily. "I am a Weren, stupid! Haven't you figured it out by now!?" The creature snapped back, Freddy now realising the creature was definitely a Weren. "Oh... of course you are." He admitted sheepishly. "Anyway, what's a Weren doing on this primitive planet?" Freddy then asked, as he then sniffed his nose, noting something families about the smell. "It's a sad story." The creature answered with a hint of sadness in his voice, so Freddy felt it wasn't best to inquire about it, so he decided to change the subject "So, what's your name?" He asked, realising he still didn't know the creature's name. "Flasheart Lupin." The creature, named Flasheart, asked. For some reason, time slowed down for Freddy as he got a good look at the creatures face, and then something struck him like a lightning bolt: he'd seen this Weren before, he could remember him, his face (looking down at him with a very happy, loveable smile), the feeling of being held in his warm furry arms on a cold night, his smell. He knew him! Somehow he knew him! And Flasheart knew him too! "And what is your name? How come you, a human, speak Weren, even though no human was taught it, besides.... Besides..." Flasheart asked, stopping as he spoke as his face and voice swelled with emotion as he turned rightwards and looked downwards with his eyes shut. "My name is Freddy." Freddy answered, and the moment that name left his mouth, Flasheart opened his eyes and looked at Freddy again, looking closely at him before he sniffed a few times. "No. No, it... it can't be. It's impossible. The last time I saw you was..." Flasheart spoke softly, with surprise in his voice with wide eyes before he noticed something behind Freddy. "Let me see that." He spoke before he gentle held a Freddy's tail in his left hand, Freddy looked over his right shoulder at him, a bit confused, but happy about the gentleness. "Freddy?" Flasheart then asked slowly. "Yes?" He asked, unsure where this was going. "I'm... I'm your father." Flasheart spoke with a smile. Freddy wasn't able to form words, filled with shock. He couldn't believe it. But somehow he did. Somehow he felt it to be true. "My... Father?" Freddy asked, not sure what else to get. "Does the name Hotspur mean anything to you?" Flasheart then asked him. "Yes, he's the Weren who raised me as my uncle all my life. He kept me by his side, but never spent much time with me, always refused to talk about who my mother and father was. Why?" Freddy asked. "He's my brother." Flasheart replied. Then somehow Freddy accepted what this Weren was saying, and held his arms out as he ran towards his father, Flasheart instant opening out his arms as they both hugged, both laughing with joy.
Meanwhile, all this time, Sara got up on her feet as the door had been slammed and then she heard static noises coming from her rear, so she looked over her left shoulder to see Jai in his wheelchair by the bedside table, the Paul making the bed, a small black radio in Jai's hand. They both looked at her as Jai fumbled his hands about, managing to turn the radio off. "Sorry." Jai slurred. "We were just listening to the arrival of the US President for his meeting with the Prime Minister." Paul explained before Sara looked ahead again and charged with a yell at the door, only slammed into it with a pained grunt. "Where your friend?" Paul asked her. "He's not my friend! I've got to get out of here!" She exclaimed back as she stepped back and prepared to charge at the door again. But just as she took a step forward, she stopped in her tracks when Paul spoke again. "If you're thinking of escaping, I'd try something a bit less painful." Paul spoke, Sara looking over her shoulder again to see him bending down past Jai to look in the drawers. "Yeah, like you got any ideas? Sara asked, unconvinced before Paul held his left hand out, revealing a screwdriver, which then stood with his hand. "Yeah. This." Paul spoke proudly before he got up on his feet and went over to the door, bent down and started unscrewing the nails. Surprisingly he was very quick at it, and he quickly had the bottom nails all out, stood up on his feet and started unscrewing the top nails. "I'm gonna need you to hold the door for me when I finish here." He requested, looking over his left shoulder at Sara, gesturing at the left hand side of the door. Understanding, she stepped forwards and held her hands against the door as Paul continued the work. "Why are you helping me?" She asked, looking at him as he focused on his work. "You don't deserve to rot in this place. Neither does your fr... compatriot." Paul answered, thinking about how to describe Freddy as he did the flats nail, the door wobbling as he placed his hands on it to help Sara, they looked at each other and nodded, and then slowly left the door fall dackwards slowly in their arms onto the door, letting go once the top was on the floor. They both looked at the doorway before Sara ran over to it and looked left and right, Paul moving over to Jai, grabbing the wheelchair and pushing to the door, Sara looking over her left shoulder to nod, leading the way, the trio moving out the doorway as quietly as possible.
And that's chapter 7! Hope you enjoyed it!
And the species name is revealed, it'a called the "Weren"! In the book, a Weren was someone who could transform into a Wolf.
Freddy has met his father, Flasheart! If you're curious about the story, it WILL DEFINITELY be told in a future chapter!
