Chapter 8
Here it is, chapter 8! Hope you enjoy it!
Sara helped Paul carry Jai's wheelchair down the stairs. The place did have a wheelchair platform lift, but it was very slow, so they carried him and the chair down to save time. Sara carried the front whilst Paul held the rear section, Jai sitting patiently. Sara came down to the bottom first and she and Paul both placed the wheels down on the , Paul letting go and climbing down the last few steps past Jai's left. "What now?" Jai asked. "Uhhh, get Freddy out of the basement, then get the hell out of here?" Sara suggested, looking downwards, left and right then upwards as she spoke. Paul shrugged. "Okay then." He replied before he grabbed Jai's wheelchair down chair handles and pushed the chair down the hall, Sara leading the way.
They quickly came upon the basement waste chute door, and started directly at it. "Uhh, want to go down there?" Jai mumbled. Sara and Paul then looked leftwards to see the boarded up door. "Well, there is that way." Paul spoke as Sara looked around the room before running towards the other end of the room, the two men not noticing her. Paul stepped over in front of the door and looked it up and down. "Hm, seems like the best way for all of us to go down, but it's the door that the problem." Paul said out loud. Just as he said opened, Sara yelled out. "Out of my way!" Paul moving his head and body slightly leftwards to see Sara charging at him, a fire extinguisher in her hands, registering it fast enough to leap out of the way as Sara past him, and whacked the extinguisher at the door, smashing the wood in the top half, before smashing it a bit downwards, breaking up the bottom, creating a hole in the door around the frame big enough for them to get through, pieces of wood fall down the cobweb covered stairs, Sara putting the extinguisher down by her left, her left hand still gripping the top. The three stared at the hole for and the stairs for a moment before they heard a yell. "Hey!" It was Cecil's voice, and they looked rightwards to see him and the matron (on his right) running towards them, pasting an old man with his zimmer frame. Thinking quickly, Sara lifted the extinguisher up, holding its side with both hands and threw the extinguisher at the two just as they came upon them, the extinguisher hitting them both on the heads, making them fall down onto the floor, the extinguisher falling barely on the Cecil's right arm, tugging his shirts fabric, a bruise on both their heads showing."Finally got what's coming to them. They make a terrible cup of tea." The old man spoke. Sara looked at the two for a moment before she noticed something had fallen out of Cecil's pocket, a set of keys and a torch, eyeing them before looking at the stairs again, silence filling the room for a second before she then went to Cecil and picked up the torch, went back to the door, looked through the hole in the door and started going down the stairs, turning the torch on. "Wait! What about sounds, scary ghost?" Jai mumbled after her as she stepped in through the door. Jai weakly looked at Paul. "She's crazy, isn't she, Paul? Let's get out of here while we still can." Jai spoke to Paul weakly as Paul looked through the door as Sara slowly went down the stairs, shining the torch around and then he looked back at Jai. "You want to know if there's a ghost as much as I do, don't you, Jai?" Paul asked, before he picked him up out of his chair and squeezed the two through the door and began following Sara down the stairs, Jai didn't put up much of a protest, given his condition.
The three went slowly down the stairs, Sara shining torch around as Paul kept wincing at the cobwebs. After a minute of slow walking they came to the bottom and into the room, as they began to hear voices. "Freddy?" Sara asked as she moved the torch from left to right, stopping as it shone on Flasheart at the end of the room, who had just turned around to see where the footsteps and voice had come, with a surprised expression on his face, winching in the torchlight. "Blimey, it's a monster!" Paul yelled out with wide eyes while Sara screamed then slammed the torch into Paul's chest, grabbing it with his left hand, his right arm wrapped around Jai, as she then charged at Flasheart, leap onto him, making him fall onto the ground and began wresting him. "Get off me!" Flasheart exclaimed before he then kicked Sara off of him with his legs, making her fly away from him over to the wall which she hit with a thud and a painful yell, but landed on her feet with a pained expression, holding her hands on her sides. Her face scowled angrily and then charged at Flasheart with a yell before Freddy stepped in between them. "Everybody, stop!" He yelled out, Sara stopping in her tracks just to his left and everybody now looking at him. "There is no ghost, or monster, or whatever thing you fangens call. Guys, this is my father, Flasheart. Father, meet my...uh, associates? Sara, Paul and Jai, is it?" Freddy explained, Paul then shining the torch back and forth at Freddy and Flasheart. "Hmm, well, you do share the grey hair colour." Paul summarised as Jai looked at Sara. "You okay?" He mumbled, noticing her rubbing her sides as Paul shined the torch at her. "Yeah. Bit sore, but nothing broken." Sara answered. "What's that?" Jai then spoke, noticing something glinting in the darkness past her at the rest of the room. Paul then moved the torch past Sara and shone it, revealing several pieces of machinery, fans and plastic pipes, a boxy old TV set on the left, Paul then shining the light on one that lead out from the machinery, followed it across the floor to Flasheart's arm. He held it up with hand in a fist, the lighting shining it. "Don't have water down here, so scavenged this up. Creates all the fluids and water I need from the carbon dioxide in the air. Powered by my heartbeats." Flasheart explained. "Impossible." Jai spoke out. "For you, but not for Werens." Freddy replied. "Werens?" Sara asked, in confusion. "It's the name of my species, my race." Flasheart answered as he put his hand down. "Huh?" Sara asked, raising an eyebrow in confusion. "He and I are from another planet." Freddy beamed proudly as he then stepped up to Flashearts right, facing the others, the light shining at them both. "Wait, you mean..." Paul began saying, he and Paul's eyes widening in shock. "We're not of this world." Flasheart answered. "You're aliens?!" Jai asked loudly, his and Paul's eyes and mouth widening. "That explains it all. That's why you act and talk so weird." Sara realised as she stepped forwards a bit. "Well, I,...I..." Freddy tried to find the right words, but couldn't.
"Well, it does explain the tail." Paul spoke, looking down at Freddy's tail. "Why are you shaking? And what are you holding him up like that for?" Flasheart asked, looking at Jai and Paul, the torch shaking in his trembling hand. Jai was silent as Paul's eyes looked do wnwards silently and sadly. "You're sick, both of you." Flasheart summarised. "How come you speak English?" Paul asked. "Hey, what's that?" Jai then spoke out again as they all looked at him to see him trying to move his left up up, but it barely moved up, so Paul shined the torch at the area where the arm was pointing, aimed to the right of the machinery. There was a black briefcase lying on the floor similar to the one Freddy had brought (but had left out in the garden earlier) and on the right of that there was a glass cylinder with a black metal bottom on the floor. And inside the cylinder was a flower with yellow petals. "That? Oh, that's personal stuff. Especially the flower. Only one of its kind." Flasheart explained, Paul shrugging.
Little did they know, at that moment, out in space, a light blue circle began to form.
And that's chapter 8 done! Hope you enjoyed it! Please leave a vote! Things get tense from here on! The flower will be further explained later on, too, as well as how Flasheart speaks English and came to Earth.
