Chapter Ten

¥ Turning the Tides ¥

I do not own Legend of Korra or the Last Airbender, all credit goes to the people who made the two happen. I only own Kanna and the things I make up along the way. Most of the script comes from the person who created it. Descriptions come from the show I've watched and the things I've read.

Kanna Kya

Naga and Pabu are curled up in the courtyard on Air Temple Island as Lee chases around some bugs. Korra and Kanna are laying in beds that are next to each other, both sound asleep as they recover. Makos sits in between their beds and holds both of their hands. He softly strokes their knuckles with his thumb. "You guys are safe now like I promised. I won't leave your sides until you're better." He mumbles. Asami watches him from the door, feeling sad that she know that Mako does not just like her. She looks down sadly before quietly leaving.

Tenzin enters his room, where his wife and children are all sleeping in one bed. He sits next to the bed and places his hand on Pema's stomach, as both she and Jinora open their eyes. "Daddy, you're home. We waited up for you. Are Kanna and Korra okay?" Jinora asks while sitting up.

"Yes, they are fine, sweetie." Tenzin replies and picks up Ikki as she wakes up, and embraces her.

"I was scared. I thought they weren't coming back." Ikki says.

"I'm sorry you were scared, but everything is going to be fine now. I promise." He kisses Ikki's forehead. Later on the day, Kanna and Korra wake up. Kanna looks down at her one hand to see small holding it as he sleeps in a chair between their beds. She glances over at Korra to see the huge blush on her face when she realizes the same thing.

"You still like him?" Kanna quietly asks, trying not to wake up Mako. Korra pauses and turns her head to face Kanna.

"I think I do." She whispers back with a shrug. Kanna cocks an eyebrow.

"Think?" She repeats curiously.

"I think my heart is confused right now because I feel this way around multiple people." Korra mumbles while praying that Kanna will drop it.

"That's okay to be confused, but don't toy with their feelings until you find out which one you like the most. They are human beings with feelings." Kanna comments and slides her hand out of Mako's who immediately wakes up. He glances between the guys and smiles.

"You're awake." He says in relief.

"Yeah and I'm hungry so let's go get food." Kanna states, swinging her legs off the bed and trying to stand up. Her legs lock up and she almost falls, but Mako quickly catches her. Bolin and Asami enter the room, both smiling when they see the girls up. "I can walk on my own." Mako rolls his eyes at her independent attitude and helps her stand for a few moments. He releases her and she strolls over to Bolin and Asami. She yanks the two in a hug. "It's good to see you two again."

"It's good to see you too." Asami whispers, closing her eyes to enjoy the friendly embrace.

"You have to stop scaring us," Bolin chuckles. They pull away from their hug and turn to see Korra leaning on Mako as he helps her up. Kanna glances at Asami to see the sad expression on her face. Kanna slyly judges her, catching her attention. 'Are you okay?' She mouths. Asami smiles sadly and shakes her head no. Kanna frowns and takes her hand, soothingly rubbing her thumb over Asami's knuckles and drags her out of the room.

"I'm sure it means nothing between them. They're just friends." Kanna says quietly to Asami as they walk ahead of the group towards the dining hall.

"I don't think it is nothing," Asami sighs, "I'm sure he likes me, but he definitely likes her too." She pauses and bites her lip, "and possibly you too." Kanna snorts at that comment and shakes her head.

"I don't think Mako likes me, Asami. He's like a brother to me." Asami sighs in relief at her words. The group arrives at the dining hall and quickly take their seats. Soon, Tenzin, Lin and Pemex join the group as food is served for them. Korra and Kanna begin to chow down on the food.

"Mmm. Mmm. The food tastes amazing, Pema. I'm finally starting to feel like myself again." Korra says while rolling her body out.

"I missed your great cooking so much," Kanna cries to Pema as she devours the last of her noodles.

"We're so thankful you're both home safe." Pema states while grabbing the plates.

"Let me help." Asami offers, standing up to help Pema clean up.

"Kanna, Korra, I realize you've been through a lot, but I need to know everything that happened." Tenzin says. "Kanna gave us a brief overview before passing out."

"Well, first off, Tarrlok isn't who he says he is. He's Yakone's son." Tenzin and Lin appear shocked at the new information.

"It all makes sense now. That's how Tarrlok was able to bloodbend us without a full moon." Lin says. Korra glances at Kanna, gesturing her head towards the group as if telling her, 'Tell them about your bending.' Kanna immediately widens her eyes and shakes her head no.

"Where's Tarrlok?" Tenzin asks.

"Amon captured him, and took his bending." Korea says, closing her eyes. "He showed up out of nowhere. He almost got us, too."

"This is very disturbing news. Amon is becoming emboldened. Taking out a councilman, almost capturing the Avatar ... I fear Amon is entering his endgame." Tenzin expresses.

"Hasook hasn't been able to contact me at all to provide me information," Kanna leans forward and placed her head in her hands. "The last we talked he said it's too dangerous for us to keep this up because someone is suspecting a rat in the group. Then I never heard from him again."

"Hasook?" Bolin and Mako shout in confusion.

"Yeah he was an Equalist with me and helped me with keeping you guys safe. We made a deal that he'll still spy for me if anything went south that night and of course, stuff went south." Kanna says while glancing at Korra who smiles brightly. "I think Amon might've figured it out it was Hasook and did something to him. You might be right, Tenzin. Amon is getting too bold meaning he has something up his sleeve." Bolin, Korra and Mako exchange glances of concern.

Asami and Pema are washing dishes in the kitchen. Pema suddenly doubles over and cries out in pain. Asami grabs her shoulder in conern. "Pema, are you all right?"

"The baby is ... just kicking, really hard, is all. I'm fine." Pema says while slightly hunched over.

"Should I get Tenzin?" Asami asks.

"No reason to worry him, it's nothing." Pema says. Mako walks into the kitchen carrying a teapot.

"Can I get some hot water? Korra needs more tea." Mako tells them. Asami immediately feels herself bristle in anger.

"You're a firebender. Boil it yourself." She snaps. Asami continues washing her dish as both Mako and Pema stare at her with confusion.

" I'm- gonna step out in case you two want to talk." Pema grimaces she leaves.

"Is there something we need to talk about?" Mako asks in confusion.

"I've noticed how you treat Korra. How you acted when she was missing." She drops the dish and washcloth in the sink and turns to face him. "You have feelings for her, don't you? And maybe you even have feelings for Kanna."

"What? No! They were both taken by a crazy bloodbender! How did you expect me to act?" Mako defensively asks.

"I like Korra." Asami decides to focus on Korea and not on Kanna since she knows Kanna doesn't like Mako. "But you've been keeping the truth from me this whole time."

" The truth? About what?" Mako questions.

"You're really going to make me say it?" Asami scoffs.

"Yes! Because I don't know what you're talking about!" Mako loudly says.

"The kiss, Mako. I know." Asami tells him.

" I- Well I-" He angrily sighs. "Bolin told you, didn't he?!"

" Don't blame your brother for what you did. Do you have feelings for Korra or not?" Asami questions.

"Look, things are crazy right now. Can we deal with our relationship problems later?" He places his hand on hers. Asami yanks her hand away.

"Well there might not be any relationship to worry about later." Asami threatens and marches out of the kitchen.

" Asami!" Mako groans in frustration. Kanna enters the kitchen and pauses, watching Asami leave before turning to look at Mako.

"You messed up," she shakes her head with a tsk.

"I didn't do anything, she's the one taking stuff too far." He says.

"Oh, you really messed up if that's what you think." Kanna snorts, turning on her heel and heading after Asami.

"Girls." Mako shakes his head.

Tenzin is walking through a courtyard, as Lin comes up from behind. "Lin, um, I, I- I need to ask you a favor. It would mean the world to me ... but I-I know it could be a- a potentially awkward situation; furthermore, -" Lin interrupts his rambling.

"Spit it out already!"

"Will you stay here and watch over Pema and the children while I meet with the council? With everything that has happened lately, I want to be sure my family is in safe hands." Tenzin asks.

"Of course I'll help, old friend." Lin puts a hand on his shoulder and nods. Pema and Kanna walks up, Pema holding Meelo.

"I didn't realize you two were out here." Pema comments, suspicion clear in her tone. Kanna warily eyes Pema and Lin.

"Pema! Ye- yes- yes, Lin has agreed to help out around here and keep an eye on things while I'm away." Tenzin nervously says.

"Thank you! I could use the extra pair of hands." She gives a laughing Meelo to Lin. "Would you mind giving him a bath? He's filthy." Meelo sticks out his tongue and blows a raspberry at Lin, while continuing to laugh. Tenzin mounts his sky bison.

"This is not what I signed on for!" Lin yells, holding Meelo away from her.

"Thank you, Lin! Oogi, yip yip."

Tenzin takes to the sky on Oogi. Lin turns her head back to Meelo, who is picking his nose.

"I gotta poo!" Lin holds him farther away from herself. "Really bad!" Meelo grunts and Lin quickly metal bends a cable around his waist to avoid touching the soiled child. Lin makes a disgusted face and hurriedly carries him away.

"You're evil." Kanna says to Pema with a shake of her head. "You already have Tenzin, why do you still feel the need to make Lin suffer? It's not her fault Tenzin and her had a thing before you." Pema narrows her eyes at Kanna. "We both know why Tenzin chose you over Lin." Kanna glances down at her pregnant stomach before glancing back up at Pema's face who looks at Kanna in shock. "Stop bothering her."

The Fire Nation representative of the United Republic Council is pacing nervously about the room, while her husband is absorbed in a newspaper.

"Do you know where my keys are? I can't find them anywhere!" She asks.

"No, dear." Her husband answers uninterested as he reads the newspaper.

"Oh, found them!" She says after finding them in her purse.

"Good, dear."

" Don't wait up for me; this council session will probably go late into the night." She hears a knock at the front door and rushes to answer it.

"The door, dear." The councilwoman opens the door to find two men in uniforms standing on the front step, one of which is actually Amon's Lieutenant in disguise. He quickly gives a sly smile before looking normal.

"We're here to fix a spider-rat problem." He holds up spray hose and poison can.

"I didn't call an exterminator." The Lieutenant electrocutes her with the spray hose, which is actually disguised Equalist equipment. Both step into the house as a thumb of her body collapsing onto the ground can be heard.

"Dear?" The husband asks in worry.

Tenzin lands on the roof of City Hall on Oogi. He dismounts and walks around the dome, where several workers are cleaning the glass. They nod at each other as Tenzin passes. He walks a few steps further, but pauses as he hears the fizz of electricity. He ducks in surprise as an electrified disk spirals over his head, and spins midair as another barely misses him. He lands on his feet as the Equalists in disguise drop to the ground and seize his wrists with bolas. Tenzin dodges their attacks, and airbends himself high into the air with an air sprout. The Equalist who was still standing on the ground is flung backward against the concrete wall by a gust of wind; he slumps down against it. Tenzin rides his air spout and the two Equalists holding onto their bolas for dear life as they are spun around. Unable to hold on any longer, they release their grip and are flung onto a nearby rooftop. Tenzin lands back on the ground as the door opens and the council page comes out.

"Aah!" The page exclaims whole covering his face as the wind dies down, and lowers his arms. "Ah, I'm so relieved to see you!"

"The other council members. Are they all right?" Tenzin asks.

"I'm afraid not! I just received a call from Chief Saikhan. They've all been captured!" The page answers.

"This can't be happening." Tenzin states, rubbing his face.

"The leadership of Republic City is in your hands now." Tenzin and the page hear the sound of nearby explosions and run to the edge of the roof to see bombs falling onto the city from airships. "It is a tragic day indeed!

Lin is standing in the courtyard with Tenzin's children and the White Lotus sentries, as the Equalists airships fly in overhead.

"All right, kids, time to go inside." Lin says. Kanna, Korra, Mako, Bolin and Asami rush out to see what is going on. Jinora, Ikki and Meelo walk back into the house.

"We heard explosions, what's going on?" Korra asks.

"Republic City is under attack." Lin answers. Kanna gasps, looking out at the city with fear.

Hiroshi Sato looks at a photograph of himself, his wife, and Asami as a child. He snaps the picture shut and tucks it away in his jacket pocket, before walking toward Amon, who is watching the city from the windows at the front of the airship. "I've dreamed of this day for so long." He says.

"Yes, the time has come for the Equalists to claim Republic City as their own." Hiroshi Sato turns and looks at Amon.

Kanna, Korra, Mako, Bolin and Asami get off of Tenzin's boat and run off the dock. Sirens can be heard while smoke roses in the air.

"Where did you say you parked the car?" Asami asks.

"It's right around here somewhere." Korra looks around and spots the car. "There it is." Team Avatar runs to the Satomobile, which has crashed into a pole.

"Wow, nice parking job." Asami sarcastically states and Kanna snorts.

"Hey, you guys got arrested and left me alone with the car! I made it very clear I don't know how to drive." Korra degends herself.

"All things considered you did a great job!" Bolin says while grabbing the parking tickets off the windshield. "But how are we going to pay for all these parking tickets?"Mako grabs the parking tickets out of Bolin's hand, crumples them up, and burns them. Bolin gasps in horror.

"Relax, the city is under attack. The police have more important things to worry about." Mako states.Asami opens the trunk and takes out an electrified glove.

"This'll come in handy." She sus and opens the driver's side door and sits down. Mako goes to sit next to her. Asami looks at him disdainfully. "Why don't you sit in back? With Korra." She says bitterly.

"I think I will." Mako says. He climbs into the back with Korra and Kanna. Asami starts the car. Bolin sits in front with Asami. Korra flickers her eyes between the couple, concern filling her core at them fighting yet a little happy at the thought.

"Everything all right?" Korra asks. Kanna coughs to cover up her snort at the fact that Korra is so oblivious to certain things.

"Yeah, everything is terrific ..." Mako sarcastically states.

"Car! Oh, we're good." Bolin sighs as Asami backs out really fast.

"Chief! Air unit seven was just taken out by an Equalist airship. They've crashed into the harbor!"

"Send a river rescue unit." Saikhan orders.

"Chief, all the river rescue ships have been sabotaged!"

"What?" He asks in disbelief.

"Chief Saikhan." Tenzin greets him while entering the room.

"Tenzin, am I glad to see you. I was afraid you'd been captured too." Saikhan states.

"I'm the only Council member left. What's the status?" Tenzin asks.

"Amon has launched simultaneous attacks across the boroughs. The police are trying to regain control but we're spread too thin." Saikhan informs him.

Tenzin strokes his beard pensively before addressing the clerks, "I need to send a wire."

"To whom, Councilman?"

"The general of the United Forces." Tenzin replies.

"Councilman, your wire has been sent."

"Chief, the phone lines just went dead!" Saikhan and Tenzin glance at each other as an alarm goes off. The power goes out, silencing the alarm. Saikhan turns on a flashlight.

"Catch." He throws another flashlight to Tenzin. They both search the room with their flashlights. Tenzin notices smoke coming out of a vent.

"Saikhan, the vents." Tenzin points out and Saikhan metalbends the vent shut as the people in the room begin coughing. "We need to evacuate immediately. Everyone stay close to me." Tenzin walks down with an air dome to protect Saikhan and his workers. Tenzin's party escapes the smoke and Tenzin stops airbending. Everyone in Tenzin's party gasp at the sight of six mecha tanks surrounding the entrance. "Not these mecha tanks again!" The mecha tanks hold up magnetic arms that attract the metalbender's police uniforms. Two metalbender officers get captured with this magnetism and Tenzin tries to save Saikhan by pulling on him with an air current. However, the magnet is too strong and captures Saikhan.

The three mecha tanks deposit their metalbender officers into a truck. One mecha tank fires a pincer cable at Tenzin, but he airbends the cable down and continues attacking the mecha tank. Two mecha tanks fire cables at Tenzin, who once again deflects them with airbending. A mecha tank charges toward Tenzin and fires a pincer cable at Tenzin, knocking him against the wall of police headquarters. Tenzin uses an air wheel to soften his fall.

"Saikhan, no!" Tenzin looks up as he sees a burning police airship falling out of sight behind a building. He sees the telegraph operators being captured by Equalists on the City Hall steps. His vision blurs and goes black as the mecha tanks close in. Sox mecha tanks surround Tenzin and close in. Asami drives around a corner and floors the gas pedal. Bolin earthbends two ramps in front of the car.

"Jump!" Asami orders. Team Avatar bails out of the car before the ramps launch it into the air and knock one mecha tank into another. The four mecha tanks close in on Team Avatar. Kanna, Mako, Bolin, and Korra engage the tanks with their bending. A mecha tank is attacked with fire, while the one to its left fires a cable, only to be knocked back by a stone slab. The first mecha tank fires a cable at Bolin, who dodges it by launching himself away. Mako attacks a mecha tank, only to be grabbed by a cable and electrocuted. Mako grabs the cable and redirects the electricity at the mecha tank. The electricity courses through the tank as its lights go out and it slumps on itself. Korra melts the nearby snow into two water streams and dodges one of the cable and runs up one of Bolin's ramps and bends the water into the exhaust pipes of another mecha tank. It begins malfunctioning and Bolin uses earthbending to knock it over. Two Equalists have just carried Tenzin to a truck and set him down when Asami electrocutes one from behind. She takes out five more Equalists as they attack her, nimbly dodging their attacks before electrocuting them. Kanna is aiding her, sending water whips at the Equalists and yanking them away before freezing them. She looks up to a mecha tank heading towards her and quickly forms a large stream of water, sending it into the tank to make it malfunction. Tenzin groans and stands.

"Thank you." Tenzin says to the two. Asami and Kanna grin at him. Tenzin joins Mako, who is dodging a mecha tank's attacks. Tenzin positions himself beneath the tank and airbends it high into the air, sending it flying into the dome of City Hall.

"Tenzin has escaped once again. I can't stand to see Asami fighting alongside those benders." Sato says, watching the battle from an airship.

"We'll capture them before long and you will have your daughter back." Amon says.

"Are you all right?" Korra asks, rushing towards Tenzin.

"Im fine. Thank you, kids. Another moment later and I would have been on my way to Amon." Tenzin states.

"Uh, guys ... look." Mako points down the street, where an Equalist airship can be seen arriving at Air Temple Island.

"Oh no." Tenzin says in horror.

"The kids!" Kanna stresses, already starting to rush in that direction.

The Lieutenant and a group of chi blockers look down at the island as a metal hook and cable fires from above their heads and attaches to the temple's stone steps. The chi blockers use harnesses to slide down the cable to the island. The White Lotus sentries are watching and charge forward to confront them. Lin stands in the courtyard, as Tenzin's family watches from the balcony. "Everyone, hide inside and remain calm." Pema screams in pain; Lin turns around to face her. "Pull it together, Pema! Didn't I just say "remain calm"?"

"Mommy, what's wrong?" Ikki asks.

"The baby's coming!" Pema shouts, hunched over in pain with her hands resting on her stomach.

"Oh no!" Jinora covers her mouth.

"Not now, baby!" Meelo shouts. Two Air Acolyte midwives rush to help Pema and lead her inside, leaving the kids watching in concern. The White Lotus sentries watching as the chi blockers run up the steps. They begin bending at them as a cable from a second airship buries itself in the steps immediately below them. More chi blockers swing down, followed by the Lieutenant. Lin listens to booted feet running. The Lieutenant and a group of chi blockers race up the steps and charge. Lin uses her cables to take out two chi blockers, before grabbing another Equalist with the cable. An Equalist runs up to her, which she intercepts with an earth column. She bends out another earth column and shoots the projectile to an Equalist's face. She groans and slams the floor, creating three earth columns that send the Equalists flying into the air. Pema lays in bed, as an Air Acolyte puts a cloth on her forehead.

"The children, where are they?" Pema asks.

"Don't worry. They're in the other room, totally safe." The woman replies.

Lin is fighting the Lieutenant. He intercepts her cables with his batons, sending a current through them to knock her over. The Lieutenant stands over her and raises his electrified kali sticks. Jinora comes flying in from behind on a glider.

"Stay away from my dad's ex-girlfriend!" She uses her staff to blow the Lieutenant away over a nearby roof.

"Jinora! You shouldn't be out here!" Lin shouts. Ikki arrives on an air scooter and knocking several Equalists over.

"Get off our island!" She knocks down several more Equalists and joins Lin and Jinora.

"Girls! You need to go back inside this instant!" Lin yells. Meelo jumps down from the roof.

"Taste my fury!" He farts on an Equalist's face, knocking him unconscious.

"Meelo! Be careful!" Lin stresses. Meelo sends three other blasts from his hands and rear, and makes a small air shield around himself to send the remaining Equalists flying. "Never mind." The Equalists bound and in a row in front of Lin, the children, and the White Lotus sentries. "Take these Equalists and lock them in the temple's basement!" Lin orders the sentries. "Nice work, kids." Oogi's grunt is heard and the kids rush out to the center of the courtyard.

"Dad!" Oogi lands and Tenzin and Team Avatar dismount. Tenzin embraces his children.

"Oh, thank goodness you're all right!" Tenzin sighs in relief. Meelo climbs onto Tenzin's shoulder and pulls on his father's head.

"We caught the bad guys." Meelo proudly says. Kanna turns to the two girls, making sure there were no injuries on them before pulling them into a hug.

"You two are going to be the death of me," Jinora and Ikki giggle at Kanna.

"You let them fight? Do you realize what could have happened?" Tenzin gazed at Lin in slight anger.

"I would have been toast if it weren't for your kids." Lin says and folds her arms. "You should be proud. You taught them well." Tenzin looks over his shoulder at Meelo and down at Jinora and Ikki. "Go on, be with your wife." Tenzin runs down a hall, when he hears the cry of a baby.

"Pema!" He walks into the room with Pema holding a baby and smiles.

"Tenzin." Pema smiles. Tenzin sits down on the bed and puts his hands on his wife's shoulders.

"I'm here, Pema." Tenzin assured her.

"Our new son." She hands the baby to Tenzin. Tenzin puts his finger on the baby's chin and it coos.

"Hello." Meelo, Ikki, and Jinora peer into the room. "Come, meet your new brother."

"A brother? Well it's about time!" Meelo expresses happily.

"Welcome, I'm Ikki, and this is Jinora and Meelo. We have a super great family and we're so happy that you're a part of it." Ikki says to the baby.

"What're you gonna name him?" Jinora puts her hands together in excitement. "Can I pick?"

"We already chose a name." Pema says and tests her head on Tenzin's shoulder.

"Rohan." Tenzin informs the kids.

Kanna, Lin, Korra, and Mako watch the scene from near the doorway.

"I'm so sorry to interrupt, but more airships are coming." Korra says.

"We need to go." Kanna states, looking outside of the window. "Now." Tenzin looks down at Rohan.

"Everything's not gonna be fine, is it, Daddy?" Ikki worriedly asks.

Kanna, Korra, Tenzin, Lin, and Mako join Bolin and Asami outside and they look at the incoming airships. "What do you want to do, Tenzin?" Korra questions.

"I need to protect my family, and get them as far away from this conflict as possible. If Amon got his hands on my children ... I hate to even think of it." Tenzin says.

"If you're leaving, then I'm going with you." Lin states.

"But-" Tenzin gets cut off.

"No arguments. You and your family are the last airbenders. There's no way in the world I'm letting Amon take your bending away." Lin defiantly tells him.

"Thank you, Lin. Korra, I want you to leave this island and hide for the time being. Kanna, make sure she does what I say." Tenzin addresses the two.

"I'm not giving up." Korra says in determination.

"You expect her to listen to me?" Kanna laughs and snorts at the thought.

"I'm not asking you to. I sent word to the United Forces. They will be here soon. And once my family is safe, I will return. With the reinforcements, we can turn the tide in this war." Tenzin tells Korra, ignoring Kanna who is now crying from laughing so hard.

"What you're saying is, we need to be patient." Korra sighs.

Tenzin puts his hand on Korra's shoulder. "You're learning well." Korra brightens up and Kanna eventually stops laughing. He turns and helps Kanna up from the ground, pulling his cousin into a tight hug. "You need to trust in your abilities more." He whispers, watching his family board Oogi. "Blood bending is not evil, it all depends on the person. Use it to protect your friends and family." He pulls away and smiles at her. "Be safe. Don't get hurt, don't get kidnapped, and please don't throw yourself into danger headfirst. I need my cousin alive."

"You better be safe too, I wish I could come with you and help protect the kids but," she glances at Korra, "my priorities are here." Tenzin understandingly nods and the two head over to Oogi.

Korra embraces Tenzin, as he and his family prepare to leave. "Stay safe, Korra. And listen to Kanna for once please." He says.

"You too and I'll try." Korra replies and they pull away.

"Tenzin, if we're leaving, we'd better do it now." Lin states. Tenzin air bends himself onto Oogi.

"Oogi, yip yip!" The sky bison fly away from the island, as Korra and the team look up at them. Two Equalist airships begin to chase them, as more airships invade the island. One airship shoots out a cable near the team and Equalists come down on the island. The White Lotus guards run in front of Korra and her friends and take their stances.

"Go! We'll hold them off!" One sentry shouts. Korra and Kanna leap onto Naga.

"Everyone, climb on!" Mako, Bolin and Asami hop onto Naga. "Let's go, girl!" Kanna cradles Lee to her chest as Pabu rests on her head. Naga runs away as more Equalists come down and encircle the White Lotus sentries, spinning their bolas as they begin to fight. As Team Avatar runs away, Bolin looks up and points at the Lieutenant.

"Mustache guy!" Bolin shouts. Lieutenant slides down the slope and jumps off to attack them. Naga jumps up and uses her right paw to smack the Lieutenant off of the cliff face as they run past.

"Nice one, Naga!" Korra says.

Naga runs to the pier and jumps into the water. Korra and Kanna work together to water bend a large water bubble around them as Naga swims to safety.

Oogi is trying to evade the Equalist airships, but they are coming closer to them. "They're gaining on us!" Lin yells.

"Faster, Oogi!" Tenzin cracks his reins. Oogi speeds up, but an Equalist airship shoots out a large net at them. Lin metalbends her cables to break the net apart and wraps her cable around the rope. She stands and looks at the family with sorrow as they look at the airships in fear. She looks away before turning back at them.

"Whatever happens to me, don't turn back!" Lin yells, knowing what she has to do to make sure this family stays safe. She glances at Tenzin, realizing that she may still have feelings for him in order to want to protect him and his family so much.

"Lin, what are you doing?!" Tenzin turns to look at the woman just in time to see Lin running and jumping off Oogi, reeling herself up and landing on the airship. She takes her stance and rips off a large section of the airship's metal skin. There is an explosion and it begins to fall into the harbor below. Lin metalbends a panel to catapult herself to the other airship. She begins to rip apart the airship when Equalists come up behind her. They wrap their bolas wrapped around her body and feet, electrocuting her into unconsciousness. The last airship turns back as the family gazes at it in shock.

"That lady is my hero." Meelo says. Pema frowns, wishing she treated Lin a little nicer.

"Yes, she is." Tenzin sadly says. Oogi flies to safety.

Korra and the team watch in dismay as Air Temple Island is raided from a large drainage pipe near the bay. Mako places his hand on Korra's shoulder. "Korra, we should get moving." Mako escorts Korra into the tunnel. Asami looks disdainfully at them and Kanna nudges her.

"Want to talk?" Kanna offers as they follow the two into the tunnel with Bolin.

"Not really," Asami shakes her head.

"I'm here whenever you need an ear." Kanna says.

"I appreciate it." Asami smiles at Kanna, reaching over to squeeze her shoulder in thanks. "How are you doing? I know you wanted to join your family."

"I wish I was with Tenzin and the kids, but Korra is my top priority. My existence is entirely focused around protecting her from danger and making sure she doesn't die." Asami frowns and eyes Kanna.

"You do know your life has more meaning than just being the protector of the Avatar, right? You're a cousin, you're a friend and you're probably someone's crush. You have a lot more to offer to the world than you think." Asami comments.

"Wow you two are getting sentimental." The girls deadpan and turn to see Bolin staring at them. "What? I wanna join in! Group hug!" He rushes towards them and yanks them into a hug.

An Equalist airship hovers over Air Temple Island, where it is raining. Lin is kneeling in front of Amon. "Tell me where the Avatar and her Protector are and I'll let you keep your bending." Amon says.

"I won't tell you anything, you monster." Lin defiantly states, glaring at him.

"Very well." Amon walks behind Lin. Dignified, Lin closes her eyes and Amon takes away her bending. Lin falls to the ground, unconscious.

Iroh, the general of the United Forces at the young age of 24, is standing at the bow of a ship when someone approaches him. "General, I just received a wire from the Avatar and her Protector. They say Amon and his forces have gained control of the city. How do you want to respond?"

"Tell them we will be arriving in three days' time. And that I look forward to winning back Republic City, together." Iroh comments.

"As you wish, General Iroh," the messenger salutes and hurries away. Iroh looks out at his fleet, nodding and smirks. 'Another victory is in sight for the United Forces.' He thinks.
