Newt and I have been getting really close, in a friendly way. We seem to get along really well, we have the same interests, a great match of personalities and both hate it when people tease us and say we should date.

I wouldn't mind dating him, but I think he feels as if we should just be friends, so that's what we are.

"Lara, look at this!" Newt laughs, he shows me a picture of Rachel and Thomas blushing at each other, it was cute and funny.

"Awwe, aren't they cute." I giggle.

"Sh, Lara, you don't want Brenda to hear you." He chuckles.

"I can hear everything you guys are saying, and its NOT funny!" Brenda says angrily.

You see, Thomas and Brenda have been dating for some time now, but you can tell how much Rachel likes Tom, so it's funny to joke about them.

"Hey, where's Minho?!" I suddenly ask, noticing him gone.

"Uh, yeah, where is he?" Newt asked too.

"Ugh, his with his girlfriend!" Thomas moans.

"What?! He has a girlfriend, ha, nice try Tom, nice try." Brenda laughs, her and Minho are always picking on each other.

"It's true," Rachel sighs "he dates Melody, that girl he's always with."

"Oh, her, haha, I actually think she's not his type, like she's all cool and everything, but Minho isn't soft enough for her." Newt laughs.

"Yeah, but maybe they are a good couple, you never know." I say.

"Haha, yeah, it's like if Newt dated Milly!" Rachel joked.

But I went dead quiet, and still. M-Milly and Newt, together, that would break me, sure she's a nice girl and all, but she's not his closest friend, like me!
But the worst thing is, how Newt's acting.

He awkwardly laughed, "Ah, heh, yeah, that would be weird..."

He AWKWARDLY LAUGHED, it's not the laugh as in 'that would never happen' it's the laugh as in 'ah, I do like her, but now they think it would be weird, what would they think of I did date her?'

I dropped my head, and went quiet.

"Hey, Lara, what's up?" Newt asks, noticing my sudden change in mood.

"Nothing...." I mumble.

"Lar-"

"I SAID NOTHING!" I snap and stand, before storming off to my dorm.

Before I even get to my dorm, I feel tears threatening to fall.

I fumble with my keys, water blurring my vision.

I quickly burst through, slam the door and run to my bedroom and cry my eyes out in my bed.

I wasn't just crying that Newt liked Milly, I was more crying because I snapped at him, for my own selfish desires.

I need to apologise, and I need to do it soon.

3rd person:

The bell goes for 5th period, but Lara doesn't show up to class, Newt realises, it must be because she's still upset, so he tells the teacher that she's gone to her dorm, sick.

Meanwhile, Lara is on her bed, eyes red and puffy, pillow damp from tears and the slight sound of her snore can be hear from the main room of the dorm.

The crying must've drained all her energy, so she was now asleep😴

Lara:)

I woke up to the sound of people entering the dorm, it was noisy, but I could hear people telling each other to be quiet.

Then my door creeks open, I peek up and see Rachel leaning into my room.

"Are you ok?" She asked softly.

"I don't know." I sigh.

She comes and sits on the bed, next to where I lay.

"Want to talk about it?"

"I guess..."

"So, how'd it start?" She asks.

"Well it started when you said 'it would be as weird as if Newt went out with Milly' then the way he awkwardly laugh in the way you would if you did like someone, so I could tell he likes her, I guess it's also the fact that I'm extremely tired." I had tears in my eyes by now.

"And is that why you came here and cried yourself to sleep?" She asked, she must've come in before class and saw me asleep.

"Yes and no.... Yes, because I'm upset he likes another girl and no because I was upset because I snapped, when he didn't do anything wrong." The tears are now dripping from my cheeks, not flowing from my eyes, but drizzling lightly.

I wipe my tears from my cheeks as Rachel rubs my back, "Sh, sh, it's alright, I'm sure you two will be together one day, maybe you two just need to try other people before you become more than best friends?!"

"Hm, maybe." I sigh.

"Don't fret, you'll be together." Rachel smiles "Come on, let's get some ice cream and watch a movie, Brenda's with Tom, Melody and Minho on a double date so it'll just be you and me."

"What about Newt? I need to apologise, so how about we invite him over?" I ask.

"Go ahead, I'll get everything ready."

I get out of my school clothes and get dressed into a black dress-shirt, black shorts, black coat and my silver bracelet that my mum gave me before she passed away and my dad sent me here.

I nock on Newt's door after a few deep breaths.

Newt comes to the door "Lara?" He says shocked.

I give a weak smile "can we talk?" I ask.

He nods "Sure. Of course."

He gestures for me to enter, I step inside his dorm.

I burst into tears, great, now I'm an emotional girl.

"Hey, hey, it's ok, it's ok, Sh, Sh, what's wrong?" He asks concerned.

"I-I-I'm so so sorry." I sniffle.

"Hey, it's ok, you didn't do anything wrong." He reassures me.

"Y-yes I did," I hiccup "I snapped for no reason."

"It wasn't your fault, I'm sure you had a perfect reason." He smiles, wiping my tear off my cheeks.

I smile, and hug him "Thanks for understanding."

"Always."

"Rachel's set up a movie and ice cream, wanna come over?" I ask.

"I'd love to."
