Chapter 25

AMBER'S POINT OF VIEW

She looked out the window, the full moon high in the sky now. It's been few hours since Knight left and she's already feeling weary. "Well, if there's no one listening I mind as well talk out loud!" She shouted trying to wake up.

Listening for a response that never came.

"I'm. So. Bored." Amber looked up to the ceiling, ignoring the occasional howls.

"Semi-werewolves are so sad, they have to transform." She mocked her pity. "But to be fair, those natural borns who like to transform can do so, basically everyone can transform, while I'm stuck here rotting to death." She added with a dramatic flair of her own.

She looked over to Knight's bedroom and smiled. "If I go in he wouldn't know it, and maybe I can find out who this Knight...character really is." She kept staring at it, not willing herself to get off the couch just yet.

"I mean, sure he can't control his werewolf transformations which forces him to transform, but being a natural born shouldn't do that...It doesn't make any sense! Natural borns shouldn't be forced to transform even if they don't know how to control themselves...or so I thought." Just as she said this the thought came to mind: what if he's not what he says he is? What if he's not an natural born?

Impossible! Only natural borns gets the strong powers, and his is one of the strongest next to water. There's something else not adding up!

"But maybe the answers to all my questions is in his bedroom." She allowed herself to get off the couch, the thought of it so tempting she could barely control her excitement.

As quick as she got off from the couch, she threw herself back down, trying to get comfortable as fast as possible.

"Ugh, I promised him I wouldn't go in, so I won't!"

Go in Amber, find out what's in there.

I promised I wouldn't. Beside, I don't want to risk it if his room is as messy as he says it is, that's even grosser than the twenty plus garbage bags in his living room.

You don't actually believe that? He said that just so you would stay out...

Then I'm going back to I promise I wouldn't go in. Besides I don't want to get off this couch.

You are such a pathetic weakling!

Says the one who isn't surfaced.

Well, when I do, and trust me I will, I'll make sure it's permanently.

That sent shivers down her spine. She decides to think about anything else, but those last words her other half promised shook her to the core, replaying in her mind.

"Well, I'm surfaced now and on a very comfortable couch. I'm fine." She reassured herself, then quickly added optimistically, "I love this couch! Thousand times better than the park bench."

......

At least eight hours passed since Knight left, the night still dark, but brighten by the full moon. Amber didn't do anything except shift her position on the couch, and even then that was only a couple times. Her back is stiff as a rock. "Who knew, in such a short amount of time, I would be so used to having someone to talk to."

For a moment there was nothing. No sound of the roaring wind or howling wolves. No sounds of birds chirping or crickets singing. It felt like being in the Black Forest.

Why so silent?

"Aww, look at that, it turns out she has feelings after all." Someone hissed, making Amber shoot up from the couch, clenching her hands into fists, her nails lightly digging into her skin.

The one time I don't have a weapon.

"Who's there!?" Amber demanded, looking around the house until her eyes landed on the shadowy figure.

"You can't tell me you don't recognize me?" He teased, making her nails dig deeper.

"I hate you." Amber responded running towards the shadowy figure, but in flash, he was behind her, holding a dagger up to her throat.

Ugh, vampires just had to be faster! How is that fair?!

"See, I knew you would recognize me." He whispered into her ear having her stomach churn. She keeps struggling, trying to break free, but doesn't succeed.

"What do you want Tyler?" She hissed. She felt his grip loosen a small fraction, but that was all she needed. She forced her way out of his grasp and turned around to face him. She immediately noticed the gold dagger twirling in his hand.

How did he get a weapon so powerful? I thought only The Headmaster had those.

"Relax, my little snowflake. I'm only the messenger." Tyler smirked. Amber decides to ignore the nickname for now, and focuses on the more present manner.

"How. Did. You. Find. Me?!" She firmly demanded, not wanting to hear anything The Headmaster wants to say at the moment.

"Not. Telling." He teased, immediately dodging her flying fists. "Man, you were always the one who acted irrationally." He slashed her arm, sending a burning sensation through her skin. "Even when your opponent has the upper hand."

She knelt down clutching her right arm as she felt it go numb. She never once took her eyes off of his.

Ugh, I HATE HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!

Whatever, next time dodge the blow, or you will be in much more pain! You're just lucky he didn't end it and plunge it through your heart.

Please, they wouldn't kill me...that would be too easy.

"No one needed to get hurt, I was only here to deliver a message." He whispered, slashing her cheek as he spoke. Her cheek swelling up within a second.

He bent down to her eye level, clearly amused. "You know, I gave The Headmaster the option, several times, to kill you, but no matter how much times I suggest it, he just rejects it.

"He thinks you, a half-breed, can be the most powerful vampire in the world, behind himself of course. Apparently, he doesn't know that you can't defend yourself." He kicked her into the wall just as she was trying to stand up.

Not only was the pain on her arm and cheek torturous, but now her back's on fire.

He flashed in front of her, holding the dagger over her heart. She stops moving, hoping that if she doesn't flinch, the dagger wouldn't move.

"If I kill you," he paused, slowly pressing the dagger down. It takes everything in her not to move away, to stay strong. "No doubt, The Headmaster would kill me, but at least he doesn't get what he wants, and I think it's about time he doesn't get that."

"Oh really?" She mocked, hiding her fear perfectly. "I like to see you try." She challenged speaking confidently. Never once have she met a disloyal servant. She knows The Headmaster trusts Tyler a lot or he wouldn't keep sending him, so Tyler wouldn't have a reason to disobey him.

He presses the dagger harder til it broke the skin, having her start to doubt. He held her down as she started struggling to break free, but the dagger slowly continues to keep going down deeper.

It's no use, in any second, he reaches the heart and she's done for.

The burning sensation got stronger, making her wish for a split second he would just end it. Instead of a slow death, get it over with with a fast one.

She closed her eyes waiting for the final torture to come and quickly end.

It never came.

The pressure of the dagger was off, allowing her to finally breathe again. She looked up to see another vampire fight off Tyler, throwing him into the same wall Tyler threw her, creating a big vertical crack reaching the ground. At least four feet long.

Man, Knight's going to freak out when he sees that!

Really, that's what you think about in a crisis like this!?

He turned around, his eyes meeting hers for a split second, an emotion unreadable, then he grabbed Tyler and flashed out.

She was alone again.

With all the energy she could muster, she forced herself to lie down on her back, hoping the pain would go away faster.

Okay, break down, go into a usual three day coma or whatever, I don't want to feel this! I want to pass out...

Yeah, that's not going to happen.

And why not? It hurts, it feels like I'm playing with death right now.

That's because you are. I swear, the next time I see him, I'll surface and kill him myself.

Get in line. I bet you once The Headmaster sees and hears about what he did, he's going to kill him for us.

No argument there.

Who was that vampire? Did he save us?

It looks like it, I wouldn't trust whoever it was though, you never know, this could all be a set up.

You're a true vampire at heart, you know that?

Wow, a compliment! Who knew you would like me when we are so close to death.

Don't get me wrong, I still hate you, and what I said wasn't exactly a compliment in my standards.

But it is in mines.

Whatever. It seems odd, a vampire never saves a werewolf.

Well, you're not just any werewolf, he's probably just another one of The Headmaster servants who was sent to save you. You know he doesn't want you dead.

True...ugh, would this pain never go away!?

Stop shaking, it slows the healing process!

Oh I'm sorry that it hurts so much that my body's in agony and trembling from the pain!

Grow up!

I hate you!

Aww, I hate you too!

Ugh, who knew being nearly stabbed in the heart would cause so much pain, this pain is killing me...

Stop complain...

He almost pierced my heart! Of course it's going to hurt and of course I'm going to complain about it! So stop telling me to stop complaining because I'm not going to do it.

Look, because I don't want to hear this all night, let me surface...

Are you out of your mind!? No! Never! Why would you even suggest such an insane idea!?

Look, vampires heal faster, if I surfaced I can heal the wounds fast...

Or the pain would be more servere because gold daggers affect vampires. The only reason why I'm probably able to handle the pain right now is because I'm a werewolf! If I was actually my vampire self, it would hurt so much more!

You're not handling the pain very well.

But I would handle it better than you, so nice try.

Hey, I was only trying to help.

And I just won the lottery! You're such a lair!

Says the girl who just said she won the lottery!

I was being sarcastic, to prove my point.

Yes, you proved your point, that you're a lair.

I can't deal with you right now...

Too bad, you're stuck with me.

Her breaths are unsteady and hurts inhaling, but she's grateful she's actually breathing again. It hurt more when her breathing stopped, the dagger getting deeper in the skin.

Gold daggers definitely affect vampires, but let's be honest, who wouldn't that kill?

THE HEADMASTER'S POINT OF VIEW

The Black Forest was perfect spot for tonight's business. No one was around to hear or witness a thing.

The Headmaster walked over to his servant casually, his eyes a fierce blood red. He grabbed one of his gold daggers, twirling it in between his fingers until he got to his servant.

His servants eyes held fear and rightfully so. The Headmaster loved the sight. He points the gold dagger directly over his servant's heart. "My my, someone's been naughty, huh Tyler?"

He pressed the dagger harder, but didn't break skin yet. "What was it you said 'I think it's about time he doesn't get that'? That I don't get what I want?" He pressed the dagger harder, sweat pouring down Tyler's face, but fortunately for Tyler, he didn't interrupt The Headmaster.

"Let me make one thing clear." He whispered. "I always get what I want."

He suddenly released Tyler, no blood on the dagger. "Splendid job tonight, it was exactly what I wanted."

Everything's becoming perfect! All I need now is for my queen to rule by my side.

"I've tried Sir, but it was hard to talk... smack about you, I felt like I was being disloyal..."

"If I give you permission then you weren't be disloyal at all. In fact, you are one of the most loyal, bravest servant I have, and now, I know you would do anything to serve your master." The Headmaster replied, which Tyler agreed enthusiastically.

"Of course Sir, anything!"

"That's exactly what I needed to hear." He smirked, his blood red eyes glowing brightly in the pitch black forest. "Round up the others, the time is nigh to have her on my side."

He laughed, loving how everything's falling into place. "She's mine."
